But how can you beat bosses without leveling up, the regular monsters would kill you easily. You'd have to have cheats to make yourself invisible to the regular monsters, or use items to make them not run into you, or make yourself invincible to them, but if you do that, you'd have to increase your attack to defeat them in less than five minutes.

Really? II(IV) was the first one I ever beat. Then III(VI), then VII, VIII, and I hated IX, hated X, but still beat it, hated X-2, didn't bother with XI, and I didn't like XII at all, so I didn't play more than half. You're right. I'm a terrible gamer. That I will agree on. It was beautiful to look at.
It was difficult. You had to grind like hell for every little thing in that game, and that's a pain in the ass. I can only stand grinding for a few levels before I get fed up.

Some of it, I stopped close to the beginning because I hated it. I believe I remember saying that I hated IX at the beginning of this thread, though I watched my sister play all the way through it.

Okay, now this is kind of crap, since every Square Enix game does this. I really want to play duodecim, I haven't gotten the chance to. I know I'm way late, but hey, everyone misses out on something, right? Ha. I plan on buying it soon actually.
Because any of the later games are any better? I loved the characters of Final Fantasy VI. I liked the high stakes esper/war of the magi stuff. I thought it was cool. I'm not going to change my opinion. I haven't played a single better final fantasy game since. I liked those characters. They were my favorite, and always will be.

Ouch, they were great, and all had sad stories, and you know what, they had much more diverse characters than other games, and if any FF character is masochistic, it's Cloud. The second half was amazing, it didn't have to be slow-paced, you could just fly up to Kefka's tower as soon as you pick up Setzer. You'll die horribly, but you could do it.
They should have Yoshitaka Amano draw the character concept designs next time instead.
Excuse me, Locke was an awesome character, with a great story, and Gau was great too, abandoned by his father and left on the Veldt because his mother died giving birth to him. Good character story, not to mention Celes and Terra.
