You can't run from trainer battle.
It would be hard to not meant it.
Anime rules are broken. You can dodge for days and your opponent can't do anything about it (especially in RP).
Well since there are anime rules you can say it was timing. Anime rules are a little more strategic in usage of moves.
You basicly need to do all the math that game is making for you yourself. So to anybody who wants to start a serious Pokemon Arena, well... I can only wish good luck.
OOC:It would involve a LOT of math. And you basicly need to set-up all stats before battle.
OOC:I'm also not an expert. I didn't have chance to play X/Y yet, so I'm using wiki for new stuff. It appears that Mr.Mime due to being Fairy-type is able to make damage normal.
In this case it does normal damage. Edit: Unless something changed. I haven't played Pokemons in some time.
