    Alright, last new collection.

They're called Giant Microbes. They're plush dolls that look like common diseases, but slightly cuter. The collection started when someone gave me a Swine Flu (kinda looks like Q bert but with red eyes and a pig's snout) doll after my run with the H1N1. Now my collection's expanded to include the Pox, the Clap, and the Common Cold. And I still want moar.

Plus, it's fun talking about them. I sound like an effin biohazard.

Here's their site if anyone wants a look:

I'd have to try that and see if that works before I know. Like I said, it was a weird thing to describe, but that's pretty much what I want to do, and I couldn't find a tutorial on it anywhere in DeviantART.

Yep, guilty of laughing here too. But it was worth it.

Okay, let's say I drew a picture of, say, Axel in a fighting pose, colored it, and shaded it, and added a fiery background behind him. How do I put him in the background as well, but larger and kind of faded out so there were really two copies of the same line art I just used?

I'm having a hard time explaining what I'm trying to do, but have you ever seen some digital art out there where there's a character in the foreground and the same line art is behind that character, but way bigger and blends in with the real background? That's what I'd like to learn how to do.

If I can find a picture as an example I'll post one, because I've seen it done but no one seems to want to share how they did it.

The five dollar one was the word 'yele', but I can't remember the number you text the word to. I want to say it's the same number LilBueno posted, but I don't want anyone to goof up and text the wrong thing somewhere.

Yesterday I learned the janitor at my elementary school has family down there and he hasn't heard a thing from them since the quake, and he's all riled up and worried. I let him in the classroom yesterday to talk to me about it, and I gave him a huge hug afterwards and told him I was there for him if he needed an ear.

I wonder if it's because of the way they portray Americans in the movie? Maybe it's a harsh sort of wake-up call?

I dunno. I mean yeah, Pandora was gorgeous, but to get so depressed after seeing the movie is kinda silly to me. I didn't go on Prozac after seeing The Lion King because Mufasa died.

Me! Me! Me! Except I don't want to punch him in the mouth. I want to make sure he can't spawn, and if he already has, then make sure he can't spawn any more.

How someone can get away with saying that is beyond me. Disgusting.

Off topic, but the website Luna posted used the wrong "hear", as in "hear this below" when referring to the radio show. They put "here". Amused I am.

Yes. I remember it didn't taste any different, despite being purple and green.

Can't drink a whole thing of Monster here either. I mean, it tastes good, but I can only drink half.

Know what I miss most? Astro Pops. Sure, you could've given yourself a tongue piercing with the things because after a while they were all pointy, but man, they were awesome. Turning them upside down was stupid.

Those Planters PB Crisps are a close second.

The elementary school I'm teaching at wants to start getting a fundraiser underway to help out, and the college is having a meeting tomorrow to come up with other ideas to donate to the relief funds.

It's amazing how much of an outpouring I've seen in response to the quake. Really boosts my faith in humanity.

I had both Gold and Silver back in the GBC days, so I'm having a hard time choosing. I want to say Soul Silver for me, but I guess it's too soon yet. I want to see which Pokemon are look-but-don't-touch first for each cart.

    Been there, done that. Sucks.

I'm lucky this is my last semester and I apparently didn't need to buy any books since this is the professional practicum semester. Last semester I paid $300. Year before almost $800.

It's been a while since I drew a dragon, so I decided to paint one in Photoshop. After about 3 hours this is the final result. I was hoping to get a few pointers because I don't draw dragons all that much. Anyone who's visited my DeviantART gallery knows it's been almost 3 years since I last drew one.

    http://nashida.deviantart.com/art/El-Dragon-149611907

A few things about the picture:

    1) Don't CnC the background; I know it looks shoddy. I literally just slapped a gradient on it, and painted the rocks behind the dragon on a separate layer and then used the dodge and burn tools for shading. Then again, you would too if you'd been working on this for three hours.

    2) The style I was messing with first involved painting flat colors on a layer just beneath the sketch layer. How I did this was I left the sketch on its own layer, made a new layer underneath it and filled it with color, set the sketch to Multiply, and when I started painting on the color layer, you could see the colors through the sketch.

The next step came while I was doing the shading. I made a new layer above the color layer and left the settings alone. Next, I used the eyedropper tool and picked a color from the flats I had done (say, the underside of the wings). I then went up to Select>Color Range and that pulled up a little window that let me adjust the selection, and bam. Only the underwing was selected. I then shaded that by using darker shades of the color I picked. I continued to do this until the whole thing was shaded.

So....what do people think? I've never tried this style before and I'm quite happy with the way it turned out.

I'm sure no one's heard of this one, mostly because I can't remember the real name for this song. I call it the 12 Drinks of Christmas, and the song is sung by this lady who replaces the gifts for each day with drinks (2 Cutty Sarks, 3 Old Crows, 4 Old Fitzgeralds, etc.) As she does this, she gets drunker and drunker sounding, stumbles on the lyrics, substitutes words, and more. It's hilarious.

I got to see this in Imax 3D New Year's Eve. I was very impressed with the whole thing; the story, the characters, the details, everything.

Oddly enough I will not be getting this when it comes out on DVD. I just don't feel that my home theater setup will do the 3D much justice, and I guess once I go Imax it's hard to turn back.

Draw more. My poor DeviantART is so dead, I'm lucky if I can spit out some art at least once every two months or so.

I was thinking about exercising more, not because I need to lose weight, but because I've seriously lost some muscle tone. I used to be able to outlift my dad. Now I'm lucky if I can drag the wood pellets for the stove down the stairs (and yes, I'm a girl doing this sort of stuff)
