    I don't.

But seriously, in the next 4 weeks, I'll be getting the workout of my life at an archaeology field school, and for the past week I've been working a lot outside. Normally, the exercise I get comes from walking cross-campus to my classes, and various outdoor work I have to do.

    so... Soviet Russia?

One of the things I would do, for America anyways, still assuming that the hypothetical country being talked about is America, is offer a subsidy to all companies that bring manufacturing back stateside - the amount of subsidy depends on the amount of jobs restored. That would help any country with it's economy, since the long-time factory workers (a large number of people) are no longer out of work, and thus have money to spend.

Good. It should. There are too many sickening things in the world for God to exist. I know that, if I were a supreme creator, I wouldn't let my creation destroy itself, no matter how much they cried for independence.

I don't consider the events in one book, written 2000 years ago and translated half a dozen times, with errors becoming more and more likely each time, with no corroboration, proof by any stretch of the imagination. Give me alternative sources, in the original format, dated to 1-33 AD, and maybe then, I'll believe you. As it is, no, there is not enough proof for a scientific analysis. I can write a book with a thousand vague prophecies as well as the next guy. I can also write down that I can fart gold and walk on clouds, but that doesn't mean I'm telling the truth.

You can stone her if she's not faithful, I believe. I haven't read the bible since I left the faith, though.

Marriage existed before Christianity was even a thought, and arose spontaneously in many pagan cultures around the world. There is nothing about it that is "sacred".

I start my summer semester in 3 days. My last day of spring semester was May 6th (I think?), including Finals. Not including finals, my last day was May 1st.

Really? So what exactly are his works? What, exactly, exists in this universe that cannot be explained by the simple laws of physics? Hmm? The Earth just so happens to support our kind of life. If it were different, say, more gravity, or a different atmosphere, it might support a different kind of life. And then that life would make up stories about how "God" designed their universe specifically for them. I am quite sure that, in a universe of 200 million (billion? O.o) galaxies, each with hundreds of millions of stars, I am quite certain that we are not alone, and any life we find will not be anything like us. Yet, is this mentioned in your oh-so-precious bible? I have yet to see a single miracle, or any evidence of this so-called "grace".

You know, I'm sorry if this comes off the wrong way, but first impression when I read your post: "religious fundamentalist whackjob". That's what I first thought. It seems like you are absolutely opposed to anyone taking any sort of creative liberties with your oh-so-precious religion, not taking into account that Hollywood has never made a factual movie in it's entire existence. I mean, if they make movies with bad science in them (which happens quite frequently - see 10,000 BC and any other caveman movie throughout history, plus hundreds of others), I know to just laugh at it and get on with my life. Yet, when they make a movie with bad religion, people go apeshit. It makes no sense to me.

That's all I will say, at the risk of rambling and making an ass of myself.

Really? If the universe weren't attuned to carbon-based, bipedal, oxygen breathing, light-dependent, terrestrial life, it wouldn't exist? If it weren't attuned to our life, it would probably be attuned for some other kind of life. Silicon-based, for instance. Or some element that doesn't exist under our laws of physics, but might under another universes' laws.

IMO, the worst arrogance any being can have is assuming he is superior to anything else. Just because we are the only type of life we've ever found (and are ever likely to find, considering the Democrat's anti-space policies) does not mean that we are the only life possible.

I don't know if any of this makes sense, since I am writing this at 2 AM right before going to bed. Take it as you will.

It all depends on the person. For instance, I am not good at math. I cannot grasp the concepts, and I cannot remember anything about it after about a week. Therefore, when I get a C in a math course (meaning "almost all of them" - just finished my last math course of my life, with a C), I'm pretty darn happy. However, if I get a C in an Anthropology course (my major), I get pretty pissed at myself. Even as I type, I am doing everything in my power to avoid looking at my grades, because I think I have a few Anthro C's (or maybe lower). If you're good at the subject, or plan to go into that field, you should not get C's. If you don't care or are just plain bad at it, a C is fine too.

Indeed. I usually purposely do anything in my power to give myself weird dreams, even though I usually don't remember them. The ones I do remember, though, are pretty fun to think about.

You know, he actually had some pretty strong willpower. I mean, to write your murderers name in your own blood for the cops... takes guts. (it was at the end of the article.) And yet, this might add more fuel for the paranoid parent's fire - "The internet is full of crazy people who'll kill you on sight! Don't use it!". I'm sure not telling my mom about this.

If you really liked it, who cares who it was animated by? I feel that, as long as something is good, I don't care where it comes from. Quality is the only thing I worry about in life (usually). Now, admittedly, I don't watch TV much, and what I do watch is limited to what's on basic cable or what the rest of the family likes (when I'm at home), so I haven't watched many animes, but my philosophy should apply there as well.

I agree. I need more information before I can make any decision. Is this hypothetical country like America? Does it use our system? What are the values of the people, and what would they put up with? Etc. All these things would need to be found out before any change can occur.

If it is the American system, though, I would say that the entire system is broken. I feel, personally, that the elected officials do not have the time they need (sometimes) to do what needs to be done before another party comes in and grinds their plans into the dirt. Anyone ever heard the phrase "the night is always darkest before the dawn"? I think that may apply, sometimes. Sometimes, things get worse before they get better. Unfortunately, the current administration never gets the chance to finish anything through before a new one wrecks their plans. Now, obviously, if someone is doing something wrong, longer times in office may backfire. But, it would also give the guy a longer time to fix the mistake (as unlikely as admitting guilt may be for politicians).

Now, bear in mind, I don't really follow politics that closely, but I do have a better-than-layman's grasp of how it all works. I also do not particularly like any of the current political parties. I think that just about every politician in existence will lie, cheat, blackmail, and slither his way into office, and then forget most of the campaign promises he ever made, so this would certainly influence my thinking about politics. Please don't crucify me for this.
