inb4 massive gay marriage debate. EDIT: Article finally showed up. Time for some content! Well, when all else fails, money will get politicians to do anything, pretty much. In the circumstances the world is in today, I can't say I care very much about gay marriage, although, honestly, it does make me feel a bit uncomfortable to see it happen. Just my Christian heritage again, I guess.
Yea, like too long a rope on a bungee cord, or a bad parachute when skydiving, or the sun going nova, or something :D
Actually, a glass of wine (wineglass size) a day will help your heart. Anything more will start to harm you, but in moderation, alcohol can be beneficial. And every whiff of secondhand smoke does damage to you. It may not be much, maybe half of what smoking normally does, but if you live with a smoker, or go somewhere with lots of smokers (college campus, for example), it adds up.

Mental health as it relates to biology. For instance, immortals wouldn't get Alzheimer's, or dementia, but they could still go insane from boredom if they don't do life right. :D
You know, it seems a lot of people in this thread are confusing immortality with invincibility. Immortality: You live forever, and are immune to disease and frailty (in most legends). You stay pretty much the same age, in the same state of health, for eternity. Invincibility: You cannot be harmed by anything. You could be struck repeatedly with a planet and not feel it at all. You cannot be hacked into a million pieces. You could walk away from a fall off a building unscathed. Just wanted to clear that up. They are two different things.
That's pretty dang cool. And it's nice to see the press showing the better side of Islam for a change, also. That's the kind of Muslim people should hear about, not the Fundamentalists. Unfortunately, people like him rarely sell papers.
In my opinion, there is no one looking out for us, there is no one planning our lives, there is no one and nothing creating any kind of destiny for any one of us. We choose what to do, and we then live with the consequences. Anything good in this world was the result of human choices. Same for everything bad. And, looking at the poll, it would seem that I'm in the majority here...
wheelchair sores.
You people are depressing. For someone like me, who has trouble forming attachments anyways, being immortal and having chance after chance to get it right, and having the opportunity to learn the sum total of all human knowledge... it'd be just a dream come true.
Well, as for knowing, and being scarred by it, I've never been scarred by anything in my life. Even deaths in the extended family haven't really affected me that much. Maybe it's my ADD/Asperger's syndrome coming through, but I would rather know, and damn the consequences. :D It's always better to know anyways, otherwise you tend to assume the worst. Human minds have a tendency to work overtime at being morbid when something bad happens to us/near us and we don't know what it is.
Several minor, driving with my dad, and 2 major ones of my own. In my first accident, I was reading directions and didn't notice that the light had turned red, and the car in front of me had stopped. Worst mistake of my life. Second accident: I was turning left out of our subdivision in fog so heavy, I couldn't see 10 feet ahead. and got t-boned by another car, which I don't think had it's lights on. If I had been going just one mile an hour faster, I would be dead now. So, both my cars have been totaled, along with the second car hat hit me. My dad also has totaled 2-3 cars, but I wasn't in them when it happened. Oh, and I scraped my mom's car against the mailbox once. Left a 2-foot-long scratch. So, after thinking about it, I decided to turn in my license and start taking the bus everywhere. Luckily, here in Boone, we have a free bus system that goes anywhere I need to go.
I think it was implied you would be like the Elves of Lord of the Rings - never dying naturally, never getting sick, stronger than others, but able to die of grief and injury.
Technically, a fetus is alive, but it cannot function on its own yet. It is a life form, just as a tapeworm or a leech. In my opinion, though, that doesn't make it any less human, once the brain has developed. After that point (I think about 14-18 days), I consider it a human being with potential like any other. Obviously, the law is not on my side, but I'm not gonna shoot someone over it either :D.
Sorry for double-posting, but my Vegas is working fine for the moment, so I'll definitely be involved in this. BTW, if you're putting together some kind of intro (some people do) using characters for the participants, use Ven for me.
Just put up whatever, and if (when) it gets claimed, use this: Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Good to hear. Maybe he should start again? I mean, it shouldn't be half as hard as making videos... All he has to do is browse through the videos sent to him (possibly a daunting task, but all the same...), and select the best editor that he finds for the week and shares a few of his videos with a small note? It would probably still take a huge whack of time, but if I have time to get online for much of the day, even with an 8-hour class that leaves me exhausted...
Whenever those thoughts come to me, I just think that if I add just one piece of information to the body of human knowledge, I am in history, even if no one knows my name. I'm not vain (not that you are, either). I don't need to be in every history book for the next millennium. I just want to do something that contributes to the betterment of humanity. And making a hefty bit of cash as a reward wouldn't hurt either  I don't know if any of that made sense. It's getting late, after a hard day's work.
