    Cosplay

I don't have enough friends irl that would go to a con with me right now so I don't really have much point in cosplaying at this current moment. Of course, I am dying to do it one day and have had many ideas about it. I have dressed up as the 11th Doctor for costume parties quite a bit but it never felt like a proper cosplay.

The main people I would cosplay as are Osgood from Doctor who (because the only thing I would need are the glasses and the scarf because I own everything else) because not only is she cool but she is also a representation of fans, the 4th Doctor because my hair most resembles his and he is pretty cool but I would need quite a bit for it, mostly the hat, the scarf and the coat. I have a half baked plan to teach myself to knit so I could make the scarf myself because I think it would be an interesting skill to have and I would feel much better having made the scarf myself (and it saves me £50). I would also need some jelly babies >:3

I think the accent will hold different connotations depending on how each person thinks about the accent's origin. e.g. Assuming all Biritish people are posh and pompous so whenever you hear the accent you associate that person with being arrogant. There is also the idea that we don't understand the language someone speaks and therefore are just a little amazed at the words coming out of their mouth perhaps making us think they are really mature (i.e. "I had terrible problems learning French in French lessons but this person speaks it! Wow, they must know so much!").

So I don't think there is any true basis to the idea but if you think someone does sound more mature when they talk due to their accent, it will most likely be us putting our biases onto that person.

Schools break up here normally around 20th July so most of the people here won't be going anywhere until then. As for me, I have no exams... I am just an adult with responsibilities like so many of us here ;-; (WE'RE ALL GROWING UP FUCK WHAT?) I just have my job that I shall hopefully get lots of money from so I can eat at university when I go in September.

So aside from working continuously and going to Prague in a month with some friends and going and staying with my sister for a week, I will be psyching myself up for Uni and probably reading books whilst enjoying the sun. And ice cream. I will consume all the ice cream under the sun.

I love culture and I love how there are so many differences that we don't even realise and I would love to be able to experience as many different ones as possible. Even Northern British culture differs from the Southern and it's all very fascinating. I think it's one of the reasons I have been so eager to move away from home to go to university and why Cardiff and Edinburgh especially were at the top of my list, I love England but I want to experience new things and although Scotland and Wales aren't overly different from England, we have our differences and I would like to explore that.

However, I tend to think the culture I belong to is a "British" culture, I may be english but I will always describe myself as British. I think the British culture has evolved over the years and it revels on the fact that our island is so small and yet, at one time, the throne headed an Empire that spanned far across the whole world. Perhaps we are a proud nation, I don't know but that has changed now and our culture is one of stiff upper lips, queuing and offerings of tea and discussions of weather. I think it takes an foreign person to see the differences.

Our culture shapes us, we can't get away from it, it will leak in one way or another but it's mostly from our parents influences and if they tried to remove their child from culture then they would create their own culture regardless. I believe it helps define us as people and as separate nations.

This is quite interesting and I don't know if I could explain it but my thoughts are, if you look at Japanese artwork, they tend to use a lot of whites, blacks and reds as base colours in quite tranquil pictures. (I know you asked about blue, but I didn't understand the red so I went for that first and will get to blue in a minute)

Upon doing a bit of research, in Japanese culture they believe the sun to be red and perhaps that is what their flag is based upon. They especially love the red that comes from the safflower which is a common shade of red used in dyes and lipsticks etc. Just look at old Japanese buildings and you will see the amount of red that they use:

As for why red should represent innocence, my guess is it's more of a culturally normal colour to see and since they see in it everyday life it has become simply that: normal. Just like we see brown or white brick everywhere (depending on where you live of course). They are outside and so perhaps Japanese people associate it with the calm of nature (this also goes back to the safflower... which isn't always red as I have just looked it up... so I don't really follow that) like we'd associate green with it.

As for blue, I have even less of an answer for that. Upon doing some more research I came across this.

Which really doesn't make sense in the Link picture, my only guess would be, using the association with water, that Blue Link is associated with the ferocity of the ocean and it's mass destructive powers.

This is all speculation though, I wish I had a clearer answer, Plums will probably know more about it than I.

When creating a character for a game I don't really float toward either male or female specifically, I choose the one based on my current mood. Recently I started playing Dragon Age and for some reason really wanted to make a male character. I always find that more interesting, the female Shepard that I made in Mass Effect, I feel, doesn't really reflect me and I don't really like her and kind of wish I had gone with a male one but too late now. It is a question I think about a lot and to one that I have no answers, I prefer beast characters (or ones that aren't human at least because I find human in fantasy to be dull because I am one myself... obviously). I also don't know whether that changes my gaming strategy or not, I'd have to think about it more.

On KHV though, I quickly get bored of an avatar especially if I don't like it. I make lots and just see which one I prefer and use that. I think if I go for a full on theme with a name change and everything then I may act more like the character I have become e.g. when I was Cardinal Richelieu then I think I was probably a bit more cunning and fiendish but not much of a change that would be noticable. I don't fully transform into the character (unless some random thread in the spamzone calls upon it >:3) but I find great enjoyment in portraying their being, it just makes me comfortable.

Currently, I am just Ienzo with a Twelfth Doctor avatar, currently, no one outside DW production knows what he'll be like but I am increbibly excited for series 8 which I like to portray in my avatar space. I am at a stage though where I am not fully obsessed with anything where my mind is one track, all it can think about so I don't really have a theme.

I find this topic interesting though, I do wonder what the psychological reasoning behind a lot of avatar choices is (mostly in online gaming though)

The problem with having light as the monster is the fact that 'light' was symbolic of good and so making it evil contradicts that. Nothingness was justified as evil for their actions and heartless were darkness.

Having said that, I do agree, I would like a monster of the light. I also want a story line that shows that darkness itself isn't evil, it's what you do with it. Like Terra struggling with his dark powers, I always felt that they grew out of control because he was constantly told to suppress them but if he just let them grow naturally and just learned to control them like that then they wouldn't pose such a threat. I think it would be more interesting to turn the tables like that because I don't like the idea that it's the darkness that makes someone evil, I prefer it being an evil person is drawn to the darkness. It's hard to determine whether a story like that would work in the KH world but I still hope.
