Not too great, wind and rain is getting really bad and my power's flickering a lot. There's also lightning now. My dog's also acting weird, she...
Oh yeah, some people are evidently going surfing. >> My area's a voluntary evac, but since the storm's almost here I'm not going anywhere.
Pretty rough right now. Winds are quite strong and it's raining like hell. My power's flickering quite a bit so it's possible it might go down...
Yeah, all of us are hoping so. It's down to a Category 1 now but that doesn't mean it's any less dangerous for the area. Yeaaah I have to read a...
Thank you. also I'm surprised no one noticed the bag says Final Fantasy VIII
can they be friends while we cower in fear of this hurricane
Pretty cool idea, I might print these out tonight in case power goes out tomorrow. But just for future reference, if you post big amounts of text like that, please use the Spoiler tags. :]
Just heard a report that three are dead in North Carolina and Virginia. Currently NJ Transit is totally down, buses are only going to run for about 20 more minutes. Major airports are also shut down. Estimated 2 million people have been evac'd from the area. There's also a tornado watch in Jersey's southern counties. The storm is supposed to hit between 6-8 PM tonight.
Thank you, I will be. I'm not the type to do anything crazy in a situation like this. xD My main concerns are electricity and flooding, but I...
PERMABANS FOR BOTH OF YOU THEN. And I will, thank you. My family's prepared so all that's left to do is wait it out. As for your last message: I...
Yeah, it's starting to rain here now, not supposed to hit fully until tonight but it's predicted to be really bad. D: That's good, are you back...
Sorry for the delay on answering this, I've been quite busy over here. >> But ;w; thank you, I hope I continue to meet that standard.
sob sob we can't be friends anymore Not much, just preparing for the hurricane really. >> You>
The Northeast isn't built for hurricanes. Pretty much all the states on the seaboard are under a state of emergency. It's not a typical storm for this area, and given that there has been a good deal of rainfall over the past month the ground is extremely saturated, meaning that there's going to be a lot of uprooted trees and downed power lines. Parts of the area are low lands as well, especially near the shore so flooding will happen. Because of the new moon storm surges of at least ten feet are predicted, twenty foot waves, and winds of at least 60 and up to 90 mph. When that tremor hit earlier this week pretty much all communication went down - internet, phone lines, 3G. With the threat of the hurricane that could be down for days. There's no harm in taking a storm that's meant to be the worst we've had in decades "too seriously".
Yeah, I posted it on tumblr. xD I love the song to pieces, I'd have submitted the whole thing but like I said it'd have been like eight minutes...
Thanks .
As of right now voluntary. Not unlikely that it might shift before the storm hits though.
Electricity's not what I'm worried about to be honest, I'm more concerned about gas lines. Electronics can be replaced, but a gas leak can be a very serious issue. I'd definitely recommend considering shutting your gas if the storm looks like it will hit you bad.
It's supposed to hit Jersey pretty bad too, everything south of Exit 98 on the Parkway is closed off and mandatory evacuations for pretty much all of that has been ordered. Atlantic City's casinos have shut down for the third time in the 33 years that gambling's been legal there. I'm listening to the radio pretty much 24/7, around midnight I heard that my county is currently having some towns do a mandatory evacuation. Almost all the towns around me are under mandatory evac, all others are voluntary but "strongly encouraged". NJ power companies are currently saying that if power goes out, it's going to be out for a few days. This **** shouldn't be taken lightly at all, it's supposed to be the strongest storm that's hit this area in decades. I'm fully prepared, and I hope that everyone else is too. If not, there's always shelters. For those in affected areas, here's a link in regards to preparation, evacuation routes, etc. Like I said in the Spam Zone thread, just use common sense and you'll be fine. Despite this I'm sure some idiots will be out on the water surfing or whatever and it's them I hope the most for because the rip tides will be insane.
Yeah, I do, haha. Thank you.
