    Rainbow~Monkey:

    1) What religious denomination do you belong to?

What? <what religion are you (and if your Christian, what denomination (catholic, Presbyterian, etc)

    2) How often do you attend a religious service (once a week, once a month, etc) (if your religion does not include this, please put N/A)?

If your talking about Church, I go only once or twice a year. Haven't gone once this year though.

    3) How often do you engage in religious ritual weekly (prayer, communion, other similar things)?
I pray every day. Before I eat, when I wake up, before I go to sleep. When I'm not doing anything.

    4) Do you feel that religion in general is still relevant to your daily life?
What does that mean? Is religion still a major force in your life, anddo you feel it actually helps?

    5) On a scale from 1-10, with one being not relevant at all, how relevant is it (how often does your religion affet what you do)?

    What? read the parenthesis

OK guys, my first post in the Discussion section. I need your help. I have a major semester project coming up for my religion class (due April 21 O.O), and I need to do a survey. Several surveys, in fact, but only one online. I would really, really appreciate it if you guys could fill out the following questionnaire (shouldn't take longer than any other thread out there) so I can get a good grade :D

Please just copy/paste the following 5 questions and answer them:

    1) What religious denomination do you belong to?

    2) How often do you attend a religious service (once a week, once a month, etc) (if your religion does not include this, please put N/A)?

    3) How often do you engage in religious ritual weekly (prayer, communion, other similar things)?

    4) Do you feel that religion in general is still relevant to your daily life?

    5) On a scale from 1-10, with one being not relevant at all, how relevant is it (how often does your religion affet what you do)?

NOTE: This is NOT a Debate topic - it is a Discussion topic. If you would like to debate this topic, please, please, PLEASE make a thread in the Debate Section, for the sake of my grade!

I agree. I really do. However, people DO give a damn, so she is therefore not living a normal life, however much she may want to.

I'm saying that anyone who is in the public eye like that will never live a normal life. They will always have the media hounding them at every step, and making up stories if there are none to be had from the famous person at the time. No matter how much she "wanted to be normal", she gave up that life when she stepped into the public eye.

That sentence makes no sense. I am saying that science is not in the business of disproving anything. It does happen that things get disproven, but it's a side effect of proving something else.

If they learn when to swear and when not to swear, they'll be better off. I swear almost constantly at my computer when it screws up on me, but in front of authorities, never. It's all a matter of restraint, and that's what they need to learn.

That means that she really doesn't want to be normal. If she did, she wouldn't have started singing/acting in the first place. Then she wouldn't be the huge spotlight person she is now.

You know, it is rather funny, just on reflection, that the reason we have stuck to the 7-day calendar for so long is because the Catholic Church got it ingrained in European society, yet every single day is named after a pagan god:
Sunday - named for the sun
    Monday - the moon
    Tuesday - don't remember
    Wednesday - Woden (Norse)
    Thursday - Thor (Norse)
    Friday - Freiya (? I forget the spelling) - (Norse, I think)
    Saturday - Saturn (Roman)

On topic, though, it would be kind of cool, but I think we might run into just a few logistical problems, like... the entire Catholic church. Also, I think I might have a nervous breakdown if something that fundamental were to change.

How about teaching them when and why to swear, rather than just banning it altogether? If there's anything I know about schoolkids, it's this: Once something is made against the rules, they will do it even more. Maybe not all of them, but quite a few. And even more so with swearing, since it really has no effect on your body (instead of, say, drugs or smoking). Trust me, it would be better to give them some sort of responsibility than to just say "Nope, can't do it. Tough luck, kid".

It's not science's place to disprove anything, really. If, in the course of proving a different theory, we happen to disprove an earlier one (flat earth, geocentrism, etc), so much the better - any theory that can be disproved needs to be disproved, so people don't believe the wrong thing. I'm sure many (not all, but many) religious people would agree - if one religion could, hypothetically, be proven true, than more people would go to that religion's paradise, right?. However, it's not science's place to do that. We can prove Evolution to be true, to the extent of our technology today, we can prove things like galactic drift, galaxy superclusters, and infer the truth of things like the Big Bang, but we don't have to disprove God.

IMO, rep is only good for pleasing other people (if you have a lot) and for getting premium. Other than that, it doesn't really matter. I mean, think about all the people who get repped for things they say in the Spam Zone - mostly something really funny or for really owning someone else. Nothing that would relate to their validity in other sections (not naming any names). Also, think about people who regularly check the SE websites, or are members of other forums, or check other forums, but haven't been posting here very long. Low rep, yet good ideas.

They're "celebrities", which means anything they do or say is, can be, and will be exploitable. It's sad.

If she wanted to be normal, she shouldn't have launched her singing career. She wanted the limelight, now she has to deal with it for the rest of her life.

I have never understood anime. The closest I have ever gotten is Avatar, and even that was almost too weird. Besides, most animes are in Japanese, and I personally don't want to watch a show if I don't understand what they are saying.

That shows hints of mental instability to me - maybe extreme bipolar, insanity, possibly coupled with something on the mild side of the Autism spectrum (making him unable to see consequences to his actions). Hell, maybe even schizophrenia.

This needs to be in Tech Support or something, not here.

And that sounds really weird - not sure I can help.

I tend to agree with your (non-athletic) friend. Not everyone is good at sports. I'm not. I never have been. I got out of those classes by any means necessary in high school. Luckily, I only had to take one, and none in college.

If she truly can't be good, accept that. She's probably really good at something less physical.
