X6 didn't happen either okay :'C it makes me want to throw things. Great music, but it's infuriating to play (Mega Man games are hard... X6 is cheap) and it ruined the series continuity by stupidly messing with a story arc that was clearly already resolved. SIGHH. If it wasn't for Zero's ending I'd just pretend it wasn't canon. The X series is my favorite so I'll forever be sore about X6 and X7 lol. But in any case, I'm not sure I would judge the series based on old vs. new so much as looking at each subseries individually. There are some really great quality newer games, and some great old ones... And some of both that are awful too, lol. Of course, some people would definitely swear by the Classic series, and I won't argue that it's the most iconic and gave the series its identity. Which series you enjoy most boils down to personal preference because each one is a bit of a different genre. In terms of gameplay and presentation, the X & Zero series are my top choice... I sort of lump them together since they're more of a continuation of each other than most of the other spinoffs, but that isn't to say they're indistinct from each other either I guess. All that said, I'm not sure if that would qualify me as siding with 'new' or not since they're not exactly new games, but they are evolutions of the original formula.

Damn, really? I had no idea. They've done that with other series too, or even just pushed the creator into making more of something they considered finished. I love several of Capcom's IPs but they seem to handle them really poorly/disrespectfully.
