Typically, when you want a communities thoughts through a poll, regardless of where it is - online, census, opinion poll, etc - you want to make it as objective and unbiased as possible, or you risk offending some of your respondents. Ironic jokes usually don't translate well into text, since we can't "read" tone of voice. In this case, a simple "yes" or "no" response will do. You also want to avoid hyperbole in your polls - for instance, saying "yes, (whatever) is F*KKEN AWESOME" and "No, (whatever) is the worst thing on earth". IF you're going to say that, give other choices, like "it's not bad" and/or "I don't really like it", etc.

I am known to make cutting jokes sometimes (I cal my bi friend a flaming homo, etc, but he's OK with it), but never anything overtly racist. I'm too mature for that. If she is still doing that in COLLEGE, she needs to be taught a lesson. The only way to do that, short of violence or lawsuit, is to have everyone who knows her cut her off until she grows up.

    My hair.

Well, regardless, I think it's better for kids to have as much independence as possible without interfering with their schoolwork.

Wow, we're kind of off topic here, aren't we? :D

It's inappropriate when directed at an authority figure. Let em swear (with moderation) with and at their friends, but not to teachers/staff.

I'm already labeled as a nerd, and a freak, and a loser, and every other title you can mention, but I don't mention that I watch ANYthing animated, simply because most of the people I know consider animation of any kind childish (they're wrong, I know, but that's what they think).

Oh, by the way, your poll is incredibly biased. It basically criticizes us for having a view different than yours. I am not any less intelligent than you for voting "yes", and I'm probably more open-minded.

    My hair.

Ok, the job example, I might be able to see. And the military. But your school administrators are insane. That is a deliberate limitation of freedom of expression, which is basically the same thing as freedom of speech, in a nonverbal form. This has precedent in several US Supreme Court cases, but I don't remember which ones. I do remember that Vietnam War protesters were allowed to wear their anti-war paraphernalia because of the ruling. The same precedent might apply to hair.

    My hair.

Any decent employer won't discriminate against you because of hairstyle. And I have never been in a school that had hair rules (aside from not hiding dangerous items in your hair :D)

You know, this isn't a high art here - not everything has to be "flow". I made several AMVs with WMM and Vegas that had no story whatsoever - mostly just a focus on a certain character. Even now, most of my AMVs have no real story to them - just snatches of one. And yet, I still have many people here and on Youtube tell me that my videos are quite good. Several people have listed me as their favorite AMV maker. All without storylines and "flow"

Not to be abrupt or rude, but that's what I see. There is too much emphasis on flow nowadays. Why can't we just make AMVs the best we can and have people judge THAT?

    My hair.

I let my hair grow as long as it can, I haven't had it cut in months, and I don't style it. It's pretty fun to have, and my head stays really warm in winter (lol), but I am considering getting it cut. It tends to get caught in the zipper of my coat, unless I stuff it all in the back of my hood, and it falls all over the place. If you can make long hair work for you, then, by all means, go for it! Don't let anyone tell you how you should look! That's an issue between you and your body.

Even if it's not, the kids still do it, and getting in trouble for it only reinforces the kid's vision of school as a prison or dictatorship, making them less likely to at least try to enjoy it. OF course, swearing should be in moderation, but that's what they could teach in English classes. I personally only swear when another word just isn't powerful enough, or when another insult just won't work, and never at teachers or administrators, of course. Mostly, it is just to myself when I do or feel stupid. That is how it should be.

If it's legal, it will (theoretically) be more regulated, including STD testing, birth control, regular wages, etc etc.

Wow. If you want to f*ck up your life like that, kid, try to do it intelligently, at the very least. Some kid tried that same kind of thing at my brother's school (fawncy, rich private school - has it's own scholarships) - he set a trash can in the bathroom on fire. It was a plastic trash can in a tile bathroom. No wood and not much paper. What an idiot. The kid (high school) got jail time for arson.

For me, KHV is slower than most of the other sites I have up, but not significantly slow. It takes about 10-20 seconds (way slower than normal) to load large threads and forums.

    EDIT: Woot! 300th post!

    Autism

It all depends on the severity - Autism is a spectrum, ranging from mild ADD at one end to almost complete non-responsiveness at the other. I, personally, have experience with both ends. I have moderate ADD and Asperger's Syndrome (another part of the spectrum). My social skills are almost non-existant - I have to work for years to make a real friend - and I have to constantly stay on top of myself to get even the simplest tasks done - homework, hygiene, etc. I take medicine for the double disability and have special privilages at college which allow me to get on-campus housing and no roommate (when others have 3 or 4) because I am mentally incapable of dealing with bills (at the moment) or living with someone unknown to me. Hell, I can barely tolerate my parents!

My youngest brother "Zach", on the other hand, has, or I should say had, a more severe form of it. When he was a baby, he was completely normal, learning to crawl, babble, etc. Then, he went in to get a series of shots which they hadn't given him earlier (I forget why). He got 3 courses of shots, all containing small amounts of Mercury. Ordinarily, there is not enough to matter, but the concentration of him triggered an onset of severe autism, rendering him completely nonverbal and only barely aware. I feel that, if he hadn't gotten those shots, he would end up like me - with mild ADD and/or Asperger's. My grandfather had it, and I think my father does. Instead, he went several years, learned to walk, only to start spinning in a circle constantly and banging his head against things (both autistic symptoms). He still couldn't talk. Finally, he was diagnosed, and my mother, being the incredibly stubborn woman she is, decided to research any possible treatments.

9 years and at least 30,000 dollars later, he is 14, and functioning at a 14-year-old academic level, and about a 9-10 year-old social level. His speech is still a little hard to understand if you don't hear it often, and he is still very immature (watches preschool cartoons, etc), but he is very much recovered. He is still on many medications and supplements, and on a gluten-free, casein-free diet, to stop the symptoms from returning (the gluten and casein get lodged in his brain and block his neurons).

It can be, in a limited sense, for instance, with my mild side of the spectrum, I was reading before Kindergarten and debating with adults at 13. But it has it's terrible downside - many autistic kids are completely unable to take care of themselves for the rest of their lives, and even more are unable to move away from home due to inabilities to handle parts of there lives (holding jobs, paying taxes and bills, etc). Even I find it hard to get hired, because of my monotone voice and uninspiring visage (I am also fat and have long hair, but those are basically unrelated).

Heh, yea, no kidding. If I could find a house which had just been foreclosed on, for instance, I might be able to consider robbing it, as everything in that house would now belong to some greedy, moneygrubbing bank who can afford to lose it.

Org. XIII seems a bit darker (no pun intended) and more FF-ish. The Disney villains are great in their own worlds, but don't really mean much out of them. The Org. is a lot more far-reaching, with tentacles in pretty much every world, as we'll probably see in Days. Although I agree with the person who mentioned a Keyblader's Org. (don't remember your name, sorry) - THAT would be awesome - especially if they're the good guys!
