Well, I personally avoid using .wmv so I couldn't really give you any insights on how to use that format. My advice: use veoh for your videos, but if you *have* to use Youtube and its crappy video-butchering ways, try uploading it as a .mpeg format, or .mp4 if possible (YouTube recommends/claims the best format to upload to their site is mp4).
'kicks all the filters/edits down the drain' as in it just darkens it again? Because it would be impossible for them to 'remove' a filter you already encoded with virtualdub. Besides, is encoding with VirtualDub not enough? Why do you need to convert it again afterward? EDIT: Saw your edit. Personally I think .wmv is a piece of crap. I haven't had any sound/video sync problems with youtube when I upload .mpeg or .mp4 files. And veoh > youtube in terms of video quality. They also don't have any video length limit.
I just edit the video after it's captured. Fiddle with filters on virtualdub then re-encode (ex. brightness/contrast). Cheap video capturing methods affect the quality as well. I personally don't like my method, but it cost me nothing.

Well, sure, but once again: Dogenzaka posted that less than two months ago, and saying it worked fine. So unless Mupen64 changed within the last two months, using Mupen64 shouldn't be a problem. I don't think I'm understanding why this is so difficult.
It shouldn't matter. People using Mupen64 and Project64k all use the same online medium anyway: Kaillera. I use Project64k but I've faced people using Mupen64. The client you use shouldn't matter, as long as it is able to connect/make use of Kaillera, which Mupen64 does. And considering Dogenzaka made that post less than two months ago, that's pretty recent--therefore I'm fairly certain that method works; Dogenzaka attests to that anyway.

There are a lot of negative things about Smash Bros that deserve criticism; you just so happen to pick ones that are unjustified. I mean really, who bastardizes a game as being overrated when it has reviews ranking it in the mid-70s, honestly? Smash Bros has its fair share of ups and downs from the media. But your opinion is your own, just don't mind me if I laugh at it.
Lol, definitely a minority opinion right there. Smash Bros is a one-of-a-kind video game. It deserves whatever praise it gets, if you ask me. And Melee was really the only one of the franchise that got above average appraisals. Smash 64 got a 7.5 from Gamespot and a 7.7 from Nintendo Power, and you're saying it's overrated? XD What do you want to give it, a 5/10 for being virtually the only game of its kind? Twilight Princess, I'll concede might be overrated *just* a little, but that's mostly because of the game hype and anticipation for next-gen, and because I believe no game deserves a perfect score--which TP got from many different sources.
Halo? Anyone? It's not horrible, I just don't see what the big fuss is about. How does Halo 3 get a 10/10? lol.
