If it's just keeping track of their location in school, and if it's *only* used/active when they're on school grounds, then I really don't see how this is a blatant violation of human rights. Sure, it's obviously not widely practiced, but it's doesn't seem like these tracking devices (if the circumstances I specified above apply) do any more than track location of the student. It said RFID tracking, and that's essentially all RFID does. It would be a different story if these devices have video and audio feeds, because then that'd just be weird if someone was going to the bathroom, or people listening to all your conversations. But this doesn't seem to be the case. In my opinion, it's a waste of money, but oh well.
I have. I remember asking Xaldin and Crono the same quesiton.
It's worth the buy in my opinion, especially if they turn it into a franchise. I don't consider it a masterpiece, but it's certainly a precursor to what might be an amazing second game if they choose to make it. For sure if you're not a collector, don't bother with the limited edition one (if there are even any left). And if you're even more paranoid, rent it like Jube suggested and see for yourself.
Square-Enix? XD Nah, I get what you mean. I'd totally import... somehow.
None of those. You should interview tummer.
Haha, I remember that happening to me once. Creed was stepping into foreign territory in a lot of ways, so I can laugh off these AI bugs as their occurrences are pretty rare as it is. I'd expect a smoother sequel if they make one--which I hope they do. The frame rate and the freezing is inexuseable though, which is probably why they released a patch to correct those issues.
<.< I posted about the "possible full roster thing" weeks ago, Kharna Jube. And it was stating "at least the starting roster" with the possibility of it being the 'full roster'. And I also thought Sakurai already said he wasn't planning to reveal the full roster before Brawl's launch in Japan. CoroCoro has been right about several things already, but they haven't definitively said the full roster was going to be shown. If anything, a starting roster would be more prevalent. EDIT: And don't say June 2008 like it's 'the' release date, either. Article said 'till after June 2008'. Really now, consider the quote itself: "If the game is not listed on the schedule up until the end of Q2 it is currently not due out until after that time." They're basing June 2008 off Q# periods, nothing greatly specific.
Sakurai loves me, he just doesn't know it. My plea for more online updates has been answered for another round. Crono, Sakurai really is spying on us. Dec 07, 2007 With Anyone/Basic Brawl Join a quick and simple brawl against someone, somewhere! If you’re not going to be playing with a friend, this is the mode you’ll tend to use. This time, we’ll take a look at how it flows. The Wii is trying to connect in earnest! And it succeeds! Here you choose With Anyone. You could also choose Team Battle, but we’ll choose Basic Brawl here. You go straight to the character-selection screen. Huh? We’re already at character selection? That’s right. You don’t make any rooms. At this point, you’re already requesting a match. If you connect to someone, you’ll see their status at the bottom of the screen. Character selection is limited to 45 seconds. If time runs out, your character will be chosen for you at random, so make your choices quickly so as not to make others wait. Then you go to stage selection. You can cast one vote for the stage you want to play. A stage is chosen by lottery from among those voted on by the players. Also, the items that are turned off in the item switch are also determined by lottery. Practice on Sandbag while you wait... Then just wait until you get everyone together. Then the match begins!! Isn’t that simple? You don’t have to trouble with any settings. You just choose characters and stages. Names won’t be shown and messages won’t be sent. Neither your identity nor your opponents’ will be known, so you can play without any worries. By the way, have you ever had an experience in which your opponent was disconnected, and the match never came to fruition? Like when you started with four players, but ended up with only one? I don’t like that feeling, so I’ve tried to counter it. If you get cut off, your character will get taken over by the CPU without your opponents even knowing—it pinch hits for you! Hold on! You can’t tell it’s a CPU! That’s epic! Can we really do this? Wouldn’t you say it’s way better than having all your opponents drop out? However, we won’t be swapping in CPU characters when you’re playing With Friends. Sorry about that. And there is one more important thing... When you have a battle mode that runs online like Basic Brawl, the problem of what to do with hidden characters arises. If one of your opponents chooses a character you haven’t unlocked yet, it will be spoiled for you immediately. But even without this mode, given the proliferation of the Internet these days, the existence of hidden characters is going to get exposed anyway. So, this time I’m moving in the direction of not being too hung up on hidden characters. You can earn most characters by playing through Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary. For those of you who look forward to those encounters, I recommend you clear this mode before playing Basic Brawl. And as the case has always been, I’ve made it so you can play the characters you unlock in battles. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Quite a bit of info on how With Anyone works, and I'm personally glad to see it. However, this does make it hard to communicate when you come across a player you feel you wanna add to your friends list. It still seems the primary way to making someone's friend list is through means outside the Wi-Fi (i.e. forums, IRL, etc). But for those taking part in Smash League, finding good people all over the world might not be as hard. But I am bothered by the Friends list limit. According to the screenshots (not this update), the limit seems capped at 64--which can be rather low after a few years of Wi-Fi Brawling if you ask me. Sakurai surely did go with his simplistic approach like he emphasized before. It looks like items are vaguely in anyone's control, likewise with map choices. Simply pick a character, choose some items to turn on/off and vote on a map and that's it. (I always wondered what those "Selecting Stage" prompts were at the bottom of the screen during the sandbag waiting room pics). And there wasn't even any mention about choosing whether to play stock matches or timed ones--chances are it'll be defaulted as timed matches around 2mins as it suggests in the screenshots. I'm sure these options will be in complete control of the host during With Friends matches, as I'm sure it would be a big problem if there was no way to adequately manipulate any Brawl settings for online matches. Personally I'd be steamed if all online matches (With Friends or not) were permanently set at 2 minute Brawls with all items on (including the very broken chili item). Another thing, I'm kind of curious how the joining/creating system works for With Anyone. The update specified that there are two things that could happen--either you enter the character selection screen "requesting a match"--meaning you're technically the hoster--or "if you connect to someone, you’ll see their status at the bottom of the screen", meaning you're connecting to someone else's game. I wonder how that process is carried out. Perhaps if there's already games waiting, you'll connect to those and if there are none, you'll start your own? Some mindless things to ponder. Another cool thing is the way Sakurai plans to handle player drops. Kinda funny how we won't know if a CPU has jumped in, but I suppose overtime it might become easy to tell due to sudden changes in a character's style of play. At any rate, I think the CPU-replacement method was a really good one. Player drops are so damn annoying. Even though it won't be implemented in With Friends matches, I'm not complaining. I can always b!tch to my friends who dropped (whether d/c or other reasons) the game about it later. ;D Oh, and lol @ Sakurai shrugging off hidden characters in matches. Naturally, I agree with him 100%. If you haven't unlocked all the characters yet and don't want them spoiled, stay off the Wi-Fi until then. =P Besides, at some point they would have to be able to be used online. On the note of secret chars: Most are unlocked by playing SSE? Dun don dun. Big hint on where to start.
Very old, dude. Read the video description. It was fixed in firmware update 1.50--which was ages ago.
Durrr Sasuke > u alllll
Adding portable at the end is still pretty necessary. Sure, we all would know it's for PSP if we saw the case, but the game itself needs to be identified as such. That's why the Gundam SEED: Union vs ZAFT port to the PSP was called Gundam SEED: Union vs ZAFT Portable; it's just a case of identification among anything else. Frankly, I thought this was funny.
What do you mean?
Finally some confirmation on whether Smash Balls can be turned off or not. No, but you did say "Items are half the fun of SSB". That in itself, suggests there is some fun taken away from the game, indefinitely; 50% of it, in fact. I did say at the end I "digressed" from the main point, so assuming I made all those comments in retaliation to your post was your own undoing, however I did intend to 'attack' your point of "Items are half the fun of SSB". While I understand your logic on it, it's not as clear cut to say 50% of the fun of smash is 'taken away' if you leave items off. Fun is relative to how people prefer to play the game. Some people, regardless of whether they're playing competitively or not will enjoy the game more without items as opposed to with. Similarly, the contrary can also be true. It's a big statement to say "half the fun" lies in the items when the opinion of 'fun' and the degree of preference for them are both incredibly relative to a player's taste. My guess would be that projectiles would feign inferiority in comparison to actual melee attacks to hit the smash ball with. As well, if Samus, for example, tries to hit the ball with homing missiles, a person who's closer to the ball can use their body to block the shots temporarily while trying to hit it. Samus' fully charged cannon might be a different story, but they'd probably have to have it charged beforehand as I'm sure the charging time required for the full cannon would be enough time to have the smash ball stolen from you if you're up against someone capable. Even then, you'd have to aim the cannon afterward, and it's not guaranteed you'd get the smash ball after one shot--as Samus' cannon has seen a significant nerf in strength.
It all depends. People enjoy the game more with or without items, and I'm sure Sakurai knew this or else he wouldn't have given people the option to turn them off. Like Moodkip said, it's a matter of opinion on just how much enjoyment items bring to the game(s). I'm not against items, personally, I won't argue or complain if I'm playing with a group of people who want to use them, and more importantly, if they're just looking for some fun. I'm all for it under these circumstances. I have enough friends who play smash for this reason alone. On the other hand, I have many friends as well who are very competitive in nature--and this aspect in itself can also be very fun--so naturally items are turned off and I don't find my enjoyment being any less than when items are on (actually, it might be a little higher since I, myself, prefer not having items; this is also an opinion). Items, to some degree, I feel were intentionally designed to elevate the chances of being 'lucky' or 'unlucky', and simply increase the degree of 'randomness' in a match because it's supposed to promote the idea that the game is primarily about having nonsensical fun, and that the occasional blunder of hitting a bom-omb as its descending through the sky is something to 'laugh about' rather than b!tch about. I won't deny that Smash Bros *can* be played effectively in this way and can be thoroughly enjoyed by those who want this kind of play. But there are people (myself included) who find more enjoyment in having more control in how their games are played. Sure, getting blasted off the map by a falling bomb-omb doesn't mean the end of the world, but it's certainly unfortunate when you're trying to have a competitive brawl with a friend. Randomness and 'unlucky happenings' aren't really wanted when trying to fairly declare one's momentary superiority in the game. I think lots of people misunderstand and are too quick to judge these individuals as "taking the game too seriously". Competition is simply just another way people have fun. It adds a dimension that motivates people to try their very best at a game they love to play, and turning off items helps with producing a result that is genuinely reflective of their progress/skill in the game (one can declare they won or lost due to controllable variables/factors). Anyway, I digress from the main point. EDIT: Because of differing degrees of preference and opinion on items and how 'fun' they are, it's impossible to determine their value in smash bros, so let's just try to keep those kinds of bouts/trash(XD) on smashboards.
Online updates are <3.
Lol. They Brought Back Hyrule.
Return of the Event Matches, and they have difficulty levels now.. Woo.
This year's all about the PS3? I don't think so. This year has been all about the 360 and Wii with Halo 3 and Mario Galaxy. Q4 has shined for both those consoles; the PS3 has been biding its time silently for a year and will continue to do so until 2008. The PS3's year will be next year, so if you're going to say people are buying PS3s all of a sudden because of the Christmas season, what PS3 exclusive(s) is coming out this holiday season that could possibly cause an uproar in sales that isn't due to the 40GB model? And again, Level 5 has said nothing about White Knight Story's release date. In fact, Early 2008 has no real factual explanation other than shallow speculation that "it'd be a good time to release it". But furthermore, sure people might buy PS3s just because it's Christmas and it'd be a great time to buy them, but the same can be said about the 360 and the Wii as well--consoles that have MUCH more to offer this holiday season.
Altair is actually a woman.
@Repliku: I'm not denying that White Knight Story is playing a role in people purchasing PS3s, since exclusives are a big deal when choosing a console to buy, but for a fan-speculated release date that hasn't budged for at least 4 months to randomly increase sales *now* to the point that it's statistically significant is unlikely. If people wanted to buy a PS3 simply because of its exclusive, White Knight Story, they would've done so a lot earlier than now or would do so sporadically at this point. There is nothing incredibly specific that happened this November (like an official release date announcement for example) regarding White Knight Story that would spark a significant increase in sales in favour of this title. Basically, with Level 5 having offered nothing but a playable demo back in September, and being completely quiet about their game ever since then, the hype of White Knight Story hasn't changed dramatically enough since E3 and TGS to all of a sudden spark up the sales that have been happening since the beginning of this month.
