lol @ Super Sonic: "Now he can just fly around and pummel me at will".

Looking at all that, and for some reason we still have to wait 4 more months? D:

I know you're being optimistic when you say "I'll give them 2 months to perfect what they need to do", but there's a limit to that in my opinion. Brawl was originally supposed to be launch title, but look where we are now, one month away from the Wii's one year anniversary. Granted, that allowed them to do a phenomenal job on the game within that time, but like you said, it's kinda irresponsible and unprofessional to announce a delay like this two months away from an E3 release, not to mention Reggie put great faith in that date when asked about 'meeting those deadlines'.

I don't know wtf happened to make Nintendo do this, but it's certainly worth every frowning muscle in my face.

@ Split. lol, prordering doesn't cost a whole lot of money. I paid about 5 bucks down payment for my Brawl game.

Well, that was the most horrible news I've heard regarding this game.

I guess no Smash Christmas for any of us. That's so disappointing. February is going to be filled with midterms for me, I won't be able to play the game that much (minus reading week, although naturally it's supposed to be spent "reading").

Such bull. February is so random. XD

Crono already reiterated my entire "twice as many from Melee" guess, but something concerns me.

Trig posted a picture earlier from Dengeki of some guy playing Brawl. Now maybe it's just me, but it sure didn't look like there was a lot of room for 30+ people, let alone 20.

Quick clarrification on some of the moves we've seen in the Sonic video. They sure wasted no time to bleed out all of what they can offer for Sonic.

Vista is new. Even though I'm a Mac user, I'm aware that it's always been the case with Windows that you'll need to give it time (at least a year or two) before the damn OS stabilizes itself.

XP was a piece of crap for a long time before it became a more viable OS to use over 2000.

I personally still think 95' was the best OS Windows ever had in terms of stability and reliability, but oh well.

Personally, I don't think Megaman fits the Smash Bros franchise. In fact, I don't think any Capcom character fits very well.

Sonic is pretty much the furthest I'd go in terms of third-party (even if Sonic is owned somewhat by Nintendo). Hell, if it were up to me, I'd take Snake out. But alas, Sakurai promised Hideo ages ago that Snake would make an appearance in the next installment since he was a tad late for Melee.

Yeah, mine's been preordered at my EB games since September (after Reggie announced the December 3rd release date).

I'll have enough, just it'll be a complete bummer spending Christmas break without Brawl! DD:

Yeah, there's two major dimensions that Sakurai has to consider given all of this.

From a passionate developer's perspective, I can only imagine that Sakurai had December 3rd marked down after perceiving what needed to be done from then on until release. Sonic's inclusion--although it's been requested by gamers for ages--might not have been something Sakurai had depended on from the start. Going out on a limb here, I somehow have the suspicion that not even Sakurai himself thought Sonic would make it into Brawl, despite gamer input. It might have been a desire/dream of his, but with games constantly having a deadline, and Sonic's inclusion just up in the air as a big question mark, Sakurai had to buckle down on a plan of action to meet deadlines, and couldn't wait for Sonic's confirmation.

Thus, Sonic's fate went into a period of latency. That being, there was always a possibility, but as it was faint and never conclusive, production was constructed around the doubt that Sonic wouldn't make the deadline. Now somewhere along the production line, be it franchise negotiations going incredibly well that day, or a stroke of luck, Sonic somehow made it to Brawl. This might've shocked Team Sora and completely threw their schedule out of flux, but since Sonic has been the most desired character from the smash community to be included, they gave it a shot. Working on Sonic behind the scenes (just to see if they could make it work) was probably a hush-hush decision by Sakurai's team, with the intention that if they could get it to work, they'd make an announcement, but if not, they'd scrap it and the public would have never known.

Now we know which of those two most likely came to be. But given that, Sonic's inclusion caused an inevitable delay in the game's production, but that was something Sakurai evidently was willing to sacrifice for SEGA's hallmark.

Now from a marketing perspective, Sakurai's taking a gamble. The Smash Bros franchise--like many other games--have done phenomenally better in NA than it did in Japan. This is a hallmark reason why so many games of late have been seeing NA shores first before JP, Smash Bros is no different. Like I mentioned in my previous post, Sakurai is taking a gamble of possibly pushing Brawl back until January, and completely missing out on the golden opportunity to have Brawl on store shelves just in time for the Christmas season, which if you ask me, is a horrible time to miss. Is this delay really worth denying NA gamers Smash until January?

The fact that Sonic has been officially announced shows that for Sakurai, there's no turning back. They've obviously chosen to gamble their secured Christmas revenues with the passionate gamer developer incentive. And that, I have no problem with as long as Sakurai can get this game to us at the latest, Japan release.

But like I said, I get the hunch that December 3rd is still at the back of the minds of Team Sora, or at the latest, December 24th, but like all gaming companies they're covering their bases. And as much as I hate it when developers do that crap, it's obvious that Sakurai is willing to go so far as to destroy Reggie's integrity in front of hundreds of people to make this game the way he truly wants it to be.

My best guess is that they're being careful. The positive thinking in my mind--be it biased and whatnot--is that their goal is still December 3rd, but something unprecedent came to their attention and they can no longer 100% guarantee a Dec 3rd release and are covering their bases as quickly as possible, since this game has so much hype.

One can only wonder if Sonic's inclusion somehow caused this new uncertainty.

I sincerely hope the delay isn't huge, and that NA will still see Brawl before the end of 2007.

Hell, I'll still suffice with a JP/NA simultaneous release, even though it would suck so much *** if us NA gamers couldn't get our hands on this game during the Christmas break.

If Sakurai wants Brawl to have a chance at Game of the Year for 2007, he better get this baby out to the public before January, because as cool as this game is--it's not going to stand a chance against the 2008 line-up.

I DON'T CARE IF YOU HAVE TO GET MORE DEVELOPERS, SAKURAI! GET THIS GAME OUT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

Lol, there's gonna be a Super Smash Bros Brawl Tournament at E for All Expo this year on october 18-22.

And omfg @ the TBD change on the release date.

I'm so pissed at that if they're going to delay it again.

Wow, they actually did put Sonic in Brawl, and *announced* it in an update this early.

This will be one very interesting December.

I'm assuming that everyone on the map will be sucked into Kirby's pot, regardless of their distance. This would only make sense because if not, Kirby's Final Smash will be one of the most (if not *the* most) gimp Final Smash in the game so far. Everyone else's that has been announced covers a great amount of range, so if Kirby's pot only works on a small radius (i.e. perhaps several feet around the spot where Kirby uses it), that's a pretty bad Final Smash.

However, if the opposite proves true--that is, regardless of enemy distance, they will be sucked into the pot--Kirby's Final Smash will become overpowered. This is because that will mean positioning won't be an issue with Kirby, but positioning matters a whole lot with a lot of the other ones. Let's take Mario for example. Firstly, for the full effect, Mario has to be somewhat elevated off the ground (a centralized platform is the most desirable), as well he has to be facing the direction where most of the enemies are. Mario's Final Smash will have failed if the player a) faces the wrong way, and b) doesn't effectively elevate his/herself before using it.

Off Mario's comparison alone, if Kirby's Pot doesn't have a dimension of positioning, then it's overpowered. If the contrary, Kirby's pot is majorly gimped. I'm curious to see how they're going to implement Kirby's Final Smash in terms of how it works specifically.

    Oh, and more delicious filler.

Oh the possibilities with Samus' Super Wave Dash. If only I could time that perfectly.

Minus the Paralyzer, Zero Suit gets another point for being a potential Melee Sheik clone + extras with the Edge Recovery Whip.

Point taken. But I shall exercise laziness and force a staff member to remove it for me, since I lack the motivation.

Been doing school readings all morning and afternoon, and now sitting in front of my laptop watching little bratty kids playing smash bros on my Gamecube; my sig can rot.

But if it annoys you, please feel free to report it to a mod. :3 Take the initiative.
