Hahaha, it's a little lame, I know, but I really couldn't find it within myself to make a unique name. I thought I might as well follow the pattern of anagrams.

Besides, Nemas sounded like a nice villain name, you know, like "Nemesis", or something.

Thanks for you continued support, everyone. =D

It won the best Artistic Design of 2006 from Gametrailers I believe.

It looked amazing, actually. I've procrastinated trying it out.

From a vocalist stand-point, since I was a Vocal major for the last 6 years before I went off to college (my high school was a performing arts academy), and we experimented with many different styles of singing--Japanese was in fact one of them--Utada Hikaru's main criticism from me would be that she needs to work on her 'phrasing'.

Of course, this deficiency is mostly due to her somewhat surreal arrangement of lyrics--and while many would like to argue that it's a uniqueness that differentiates her from other artists, it's an endless ordeal to question what is good art and what is not. *However*, from a technical perspective, this lyrical awkwardness constitutes the little-below-par phrasing that I find in her singing (albeit not horrible overall).

I absolutely love most of Utada Hikaru's music: First Love, Underwater, Automatic, and of course Simple & Clean/Hikari & Passion/Sanctuary are just a few; nothing can be absolutely perfect, but I was just trying to put it out there that many people unawaringly judge the aptitude of music sung in other languages without really taking into account the linguistic bias that accompanies their method of discernment.

Phrasing is my only issue with her music; it could be better.

EDIT: Also just wanted to clarify--just in case you misunderstood what I meant by 'not familiar with another language'--I wasn't so much referring to whether or not you're able to translate the lyrics for yourself. I was referring to understanding cultural conventions that surround a particular language. The social undertones that define how many words are used in context rather than simple definition. A very loose example would be how 'kimi' and 'omae' definitively describe the same pronoun (you)', but their social contexts are different. This is what I meant with Utada Hikaru's use of words in her lyrics. In most cases, the way she decides to sing and elongate certain words is rather awkward when placed in context of where and how these words are typically used. This only pertains to songs sung in one language. I really don't care much about the songs where she goes back and forth between English and Japanese, since that's a completely different thing.

Utada Hikaru was raised in America; she knows both English and Japanese to somewhat an equally fluent level.

I know lots of people say she's better in Japanese, but I believe part of her 'sounding better' is probably because the English lyrics in her song seem rather awkward and don't 'flow' well in comparison to their Japanese counterparts. Ignoring the fact that she wrote "Sanctuary" before she wrote "Passion", it's a lot easier for us native English speakers to criticize the 'flow' of the English lyrics because we know the conventions of certain words really well. We have predispositions and schemas about how a lot of words are supposed to be used and said in prose, but we may not have the same understanding about other languages less familiar to us.

In my opinion, I think Utada Hikaru is pretty bad in general at distributing syllables in her songs, whether it's English or Japanese--i.e. lyrically, Sanctuary was just as bad as Passion to me. The way she elongated "kirei", for example, was rather ******ed and somewhat superfluous to me.

It's easier to find mistakes or 'awkward discrepancies' in languages we're not all that familiar with when we see it used in melody.

My opinion? Utada Hikaru is good at composition, but her lyrics need a little work--whether that's Japanese or English.

    Hey, everyone.

I was on my way to lecture when a car completely splashed me with slush on the side of the curb when I was at the bus stop. I wanted to break his windows.

    Here's Chapter Three!

    -- Chapter Three --
    Cha-ching, Chapter Three.

The references 'Meta', 'Terra', and 'Ozma' are taken from a specific PlayStation One game, can anyone guess which one it was?

Any commercial that repeats more than three times in the span of a minute. It's even worse when the same commercial occurs back to back.

    Man, that's annoying.

Thanks, draik88, Storrini. ^^ You really don't know how much I enjoy and appreciate people taking the time to comment anything at all on this work. While most of it is really just an indication to me on who's sticking around and following along, it's also just a much better testament to seeing who's actually reading it.

Just seeing hits go by on this thread can be a little aggravating, haha.

Expect Chapter Three to be up sometime tomorrow. I shall try my best to keep up on the fic--but it definitely doesn't seem likely that I'll be done before Chapter Ten shows up on this thread.

But I really hope you all enjoy what there is to be seen so far, as Chapter Ten will mark the end of the first half of the fic; the end of Act One, if you wanna look at it that way.

Here's my reference for the blatant DVD upscaling lie: Interview with Peter Dille, dated November 6th--13 days before PS3's NA release.
Mr. Dille didn't do his homework, evidently. Then again, he's the Senior Vice President of Marketing--what could he know? Fire your PR department, Sony. Do it now.

For the most part, I do agree with your standpoint about the potential of the PS3. I have absolutely no doubt that it has the potential to be a very innovative console--if not 'the' most of the next-gen--if they work it properly in the future. Unfortunately, because of all the bad public media, thanks to irresponsible promotional efforts and inaccurate facts given to the public, it's substantially hurting the fanbase in many more ways than one.

Obviously half the battle is to survive the market and technologically, they'll more than equipped to handle that--although I must say that the decision to use such complicated hardware may affect third-party interests to some degree. However, they're absolutely failing the media in more ways than one--which can induce quite a bit of negatives in their returnings.

I do look forward for the future of the PSN, as the Wii has completely failed in this aspect with their insidious Friend Code system.

They better have some news. I want to know what has them delaying Fabula Nova Crystallis until 2008.

Well, Sony gets one big asinine laugh from me.

I guess after being sued to pieces for the Dual-Shock must've left a dry taste in their mouths if they end up trying to bring that baby back. And here I was getting used to the Six-Axis' new weight and the very ******ed change on the L2/R2 buttons. Way to go, Sony.

PS2/PSOne games upscaled to 1080I/720P? That's not an entirely bad thing, but they should've focused more on upscaling DVDs at this point. Independent Blu-ray players are having a field day because Sony was caught red-handed lying about having a DVD up-scaler on their console. Now all people have is a 'promise' that they'll include it in a future firmware update--and that leaves quite a bad impression considering how they denied the in-existence of an up-scaler up until the new year. Speaking of which, they also denied that the PS3 was having scaling problems with PS2/PSOne playback for quite a while before finally admitting to it after comparison videos were widely spread across the net. Integrity = out the window, Sony.

Don't get me wrong. I love Sony to death, but for goodness sake's--at least begin to start emphasizing honesty and dependable facts in your campaign. Which next-gen console did the worst at meeting the quota that they said they would meet before the end of 2006? I think we know who.

Roxas, after overcoming the rage of Axel's plight, made his way across the darkened chamber toward a single door that lay in wait for him at one end of the room. Skeptical at first, yet somewhat intrigued, the young Nobody reached for the knob of the door (there probably wasn't a knob on it) and pushed it forward before taking his first few steps into the new area that lay ahead.

The lighting was different; bright and somewhat blinding to his eyes, Roxas shielded his sensitive orbs to the invading light as he placed his hands in front of his face. As the intensity slowly subsided--his eyes adjusting accordingly--Roxas continued his slow and aimless trek across the white-induced walkway, his eyes wandering about to ponder his surroundings.

Suddenly, his eyes locked on to a certain structure that had encased in it an individual whom Roxas had a very fond recollection of, yet, it came just as much of a surprise to the young Nobody as he had never actually met the person. And then, his lips spoke without Roxas asking it to.

    "...Donald?"

Roxas' vision slowly lingered further to the right as his peripherals caught sight of another individual of striking familiarity.

    "... Goofy?"

    And then again.

    "... Osama Bin Laden?"

    Roxas' eyes continued to wander.

    "... Kurt Cobain?"

    "... Tupac!?"

(Somehow I get the feeling this thread is going to be moved.)

Yeah, I watched the musical for a critique assignment I had to do back in high school. It was really good though--lots of songs not in the movies.

Does anyone else notice that if you consider the coupling in The Lion King 2, Kiara is actually dating her 'second-degree' uncle? O_o The Animal Kingdom has such surreal ethics.

Yeah, I never considered that--memory card saves.

Too bad PS2 games are still region-coded. I could've just made a new partition on my PS3 for KH2:FM+ saves. =\

And questioning someone's mod position (albeit, a Forum Helper position) isn't starting a flame war either?
The 'loser' connotation sure seems weak in that context, as well.
