    Hey, ULTIMA-AXEL.

    A good first tip would be for you to be very weary of where you post your threads. This seems like your introduction thread, and therefore should've been posted in the "Introduce Yourself" subforum on the main page. Don't worry about it now; a Mod/Admin will eventually see this and move it to its right location.

    You can talk about pretty much anything here, just have a good look around. Be sure to read the rules of the forum when you can, and have a good time.

    The reason why KH:FM wasn't released here was because KH:FM was made in 'retaliation' to the drastically improved NA version of KH in comparison to its original JP release.

    If you played the original JP Kingdom Hearts 1, then played the NA KH--you'd see that the improvements were actually on the 'Final Mix' level of change--us North Americans got incredibly blessed with our version. Because of this, the JP gaming community who enjoyed KH seemed to demand and *want* the NA version brought to them as well. However, it didn't go so far as to keep it the way it was. In response, KH:FM was made--which was an even bigger improvement with many more extras than ours--and of course, it was also decided that they would *not* bring that back over to NA. It was quite a bitter time, and not much news of the Final Mix version was brought over here until people started snooping around.

    That being said, it's a different story with KH2. There *are* some minor differences between the two, but nothing worthy for anyone to complain about. Some scenes are censored (like Will Turner *not* pointing the gun to his head in the NA version), and the crosshair/cursor for Xigbar's target was changed. That aside, the JP and the NA version are overall, uniform in content.

    This time around, I think it was more tradition and Nomura's desire to get some of his scrapped ideas back into the game that caused the creation of KH2:FM+, and boy did he put a crapload of stuff in there this time.

    Releasing the game to NA/Euro does have some benefit *if* all they do is translate text. Something like that doesn't require an entirely huge budget, nor does it require an extensive amount of time, as opposed to hiring back voice actors to run new lines for Re:CoM and any scene in KH2:FM+ that may or may not have voice-overs. It's true what libregkd said about KH2:FM+ not selling nearly the amount that the original did, however it certainly will show profit if their budget was strictly about translating menus and subtitles. Anything more extravagent may hurt their returnings.

    Erm, don't like instant Ramen.

    I like the ones in shops that they make for you in the bowls--kinda like in Naruto, lol. Kyoto Ramen is probably one of my favourites. I have that on occasion.

    By extra stuff, he meant the Another Report booklet, most likely.
    If it comes to North America, they're going to most likely just translate the subtitles into English and change the menus--Re:CoM is a different story of course.

    It's a big hassle to recall voice actors back to do full-scene script recordings on such short notice--since it involves new contracts, scheduling for recordings which may or may not conflict with other things those VAs may be doing.

    It's going to be voiced in full Japanese on the March 29th release. If there's any reason why KH2:FM+ would need to be delayed until a Fall 2007 release, translating and revoicing Re:CoM is the bulk of it. And even then, that's a big question mark.

    You know what's interesting about that scene with Roxas/Xemnas: Xemnas' line doesn't match with what's said in the subtitle.

    I'd like to doubt it, but it doesn't seem like that was the line that was supposed to be there.

    They said they might make an *announcement* as to what the next KH game will be. Not a release, but an announcement. And Re:CoM will be in Japanese.

    I wanted to beat the living crap out of Navi. That aside, OoT was awesome.

    TP for the Wii wins it all for me though. Of course you can blame the very unique gameplay mechanics thanks to the Wii Remote & Nunchuk combination and the 480P graphics, but basically they took most of the Zelda aspects and polished them in the next-gen game.

    Obviously I recommend any Zelda fan to play TP on the Wii if you haven't already. While there is a GC version--I highly recommend the Wii version just because it's an excellent title that makes use of the full-motion sensor.

    You could always look at boss battle clips to get some tips and see what you can imitate, but for the most part, in this battle: getting hit is inevitable.

    I personally never had a problem with Curaga'ing after each of his deadly barrages of gunfire--rule of thumb is to be persistent and keep going after him. This is one of the battles where playing defensively will *not* win it for you.

    Haha, the pressure's getting to Nomura. What a candid individual; I'd probably agree though if I were in his shoes--Kingdom Hearts is his baby, he should stick with it and just go back to character designing for future FF titles. *biased justification*

    In regards to new scenes, in the first Final Mix, they were all silent and subtitled instead of having it voiced in English or Japanese. I'd find it sort of weird if you have most of the game in English--then out of nowhere some new scenes in full voiced Japanese (even if my main preference is Japanese audio). So that leads me to believe it may follow the same pattern as it was before (i.e. silent, subtitled scenes). Of course, they could just change it all back to Japanese and do some extra recordings for FM+ (HAHA, the things I wish for).

    Thanks, Darky. I enjoyed writing Chapter Two, so I'm happy you enjoyed it as well.

    The length of Chapter Two is the average length for most of the chapters (i.e. in and around 5,500+ words). Some exceed this, like Chapter Seven which is about 8,000+ words.

    Chapter Three starts the beginning of the main plot--albeit very vaguely--but it puts the wheel in motion for the fic.

    Hopefully any others who have been following so far can comment as well; it'd be nice to get a few after each chapter I post up.

    Well then you're a perfect candidate for the Wii, because there are far too many individuals out there who can tell the difference between 480P and 1080P

    But if you need to see something convincing, GameTrailers.com, along with other websites have graphic comparison videos between Wii, Xbox360 and PS3. Call of Duty 3 was one of the best examples they had, in my opinion. You should give that a view.

    FFvsXIII is for Final Fantasy XIII Versus.

    The Fabula Nova Crystallis consists of three titles: Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII Versus, and some other game that I've intentionally forgotten. All I know is that it's going to be for mobile phones.

    Wii does *not* have better graphics than PS3. The Nintendo Wii was the only next-gen console that didn't go high-definition. That's why their entire flare comes from their exclusive full-motion sensor feature with their games. It's their selling point.

    All of Square-Enix's new titles will be using a new exclusive graphic engine they created called White Engine. This seventh generation game engine will *need* high-definition to get the look Square-Enix most likely wants for their games. The Wii--which lacks HD--will not be able to accomplish this for them.

    Where're you from, Ilikekeyblades? England? Hopefully not. Tell that to the all the struggling Chinese and Japanese people out there who're trying to learn English. Just because you, in particular, found it easy, doesn't quite justify making English the easiest language in the world.

    Overall, I think you've missed my point, but I won't debate that in this thread.

    * As you probably could tell, I altered the history of Cloud’s ‘timeline’. Denzel is there regardless of the fact that none of the events of Advent Children took place. Basically after the end of FFVII, there was only peace, and rebuilding of 7th Heaven. Cloud still did find Denzel in the abandoned church, but neither he nor anyone contracted Geo-Stigma. It never existed in this altered storyline of Cloud.

    Actually, English is probably one of the the hardest languages to learn.

    Many of you may not think so since English may have been the first language you were raised up learning, but it's incredibly hard to learn the mechanics of the English language as a second since it's comprised of many different cultures--german, french, italian, etc. Hell, some people have grown up around English all their lives and *still* can't speak it properly.

    For the most part, a language like Japanese, has a consistent sentence structure that doesn't deviate too far away from these conventions. As well, it's more primitive than a lot of other languages in the sense that it doesn't have any english equivalent propositions. "Kimi wa saikou" quite literally means "You, best". The 'wa' particle does no more than denote the subject being discussed. But because the English language *needs* propositions for it to make sense to us, translators automatically stick in the missing words to 'complete the puzzles' for us English speakers (i.e. "You *are* *the* best). So in this sense, we actually make the sentence more complicated than it is because English requires more 'detail' in terms of coherent speech. Also good to note that Japanese also doesn't have plural forms.

    It's true that trying to memorize over 1000+ characters/symbols can be bothersome, but surely you don't have to know each and every single symbol to have decent conversations that will get you through life in the Japanese culture. When communicating in the Japanese language, it is more important to know "context" and which form to use (respectful forms, honorrifics, etc) than to know every single word/character/symbol. If you want to look at it that way, the English language has 900,000-1,000,000+ words. Now it's easier to say we don't need to know every single word in a language to be quite good at it.

    One more thing. I mentioned consistency in structure with Japanese, but there are so many exceptions in the English language that you just have to account for--and in some ways, this *can't* be taught. You can only learn it through immersion.

    Example, why is there a 'b' in debt? Why is the 'a' pronounced the way it is in 'scar', but suddenly the 'a' sound changes when you make it 'scare'? Why is the 'e' silent in the word 'scare'? If teachers teach and preachers preach, then if teachers 'taught', how come preachers don't 'praught'? So preachers 'preached', but teachers don't 'teached'?

    And then there's contextual exceptions. Besides memorizing it when it's heard in speech, pronounciation changes depending on whether it's a noun or a verb: there's 'wound' as in 'I wound up the bungee cord' or 'wound' as in 'I got a wound from soccer the other day'. And then even so, sometimes the pronunciation stays the same but mean different things! "It's too much to 'bear'", as opposed to "I saw a bear."

    Of course, it would be ignorant to label this as a 'fact'; I still proclaim it to be 'probably' the hardest--if not, one of the most. But I can say that it is plenty-fold harder than the Japanese language.

    Now to deviate away from that bogus spam, I do believe there is a released Chinese version of the first Kingdom Hearts--unless my memory doesn't recall correctly. Either that, or that Chinese flag I saw on the box was denoting region rather than language.
