It's a tradition among Square titles--that is, they like naming their protagonists after some sort of reference to things above ground.

Cloud - FFVII - self explanatory
Squall - FFVIII - a type of bird
Tidus - FFX -- which is a anglasized translation of "Tiida" which means "sun" in the Ryukyu dialect of Japan.
Sora - KH - meaning sky.

    Here's how I see it.

First of all, modchips are absolutely horrible for your PS2. It degrades the laser and shortens its lifespan by a whole lot. If you *have* to mod your PS2, go for Swap Magic or any kind of boot disc to help preserve the laser and your console's warranty. The boot disc itself isn't guaranteed to protect your console from some sort of lifespan deficiency, but it's certainly multiple times more safe than the modchip.

The safest--albeit more expensive--way is to purchase a JP model PS2, although if KH2:FM+ is the *only* import you plan to play then this probably isn't a good choice to make.

Bringing some first year economics just for the hell of it, it depends on how much 'utils' you have for playing KH2:FM+ as quickly as possible. Either you import KH2:FM+ and be up to date with the game's new additions or take a chance and wait around to find news about a confirmed NA/Euro release. If you lack knowledge of the japanese language, it's inevitable that you will miss out on some information while playing KH2:FM+ if you import it (be this from not understanding menus, silent subtitled cutscenes, etc). While you can look around the net for translations and spoilers for stuff you may not have understood, it greatly impairs your enjoyment of the game to some degree.

Once again, that is a price you have to pay if you really find it important to play the game as soon as possible.

On the other hand, if KH2:FM+ *does not* end up being released in NA/Euro, then you probably made a good choice on importing on March 29.

The risk is yours to make. Will you regret paying quite a bit more money (since importing will cost you more because of S&H and custom taxes, not to mention the price for modding your ps2) if the game comes to NA? Or will you not?

I sure made it seem more dramatic than it was supposed to, but that's basically your dilemma.

    Sounds very awesome.

Yeah, it's obvious that Fabula Nova Crystallis is keeping Square-Enix busy these days, considering their '2007' expectation suddenly got pushed back to sometime in 2008. But at least to me, that'll keep me busy for a while before the KH3 sinks in later on.

Using FFVIII Versus as a guide... pretty clever. Can't wait.

    Thanks for the update, libregkd.

    Babies

When the genetics of a man and a woman harmonize together, they create a melody that of which is a child. This child then expands on its musical talent by expanding its repertoire and gaining new techniques for the next nine months in a chamber of isolation where it can fully develop these necessary skills.

After nine solitary months of hard work and dedication, the musical genius makes it debut to the world and surprises it with its amazing vocalization.

Eventually these mozart-recincarnated superstars grow out of their musical prowess and become one of us, regular--completely average--joes and janes.

    Goth/Emo

To me, it's social ignorance for many to categorize 'Goths' as they have been in the media. The original 'Goths' were a Germanic tribe who were at their most violent and maurauding at the time the Roman Empire fell. They had their own language and religion but had very little to do with post-punk posing that we see in today's society.

Suddenly, during the 1980s, as a concession to the energy of punk and the pristine peacocking of the New-Romantics, the 'gothic-punks' began to appear. Initially they modeled themselves on the Addams Familly, and then began to adopt the medieval, and victorian gothic into their costume.

In a nutshell, if you truly want to be as close to a being an authentic 'goth' as possible, grab yourself an axe and go kill some Romans.

True 'goth' died ages ago, I have no idea what this new one is.

There are two movies, currently: Short Circuit I and Short Circuit II.

I'm not sure if there was a third, I remember hearing rumours about it back in 2003, but I don't think I bothered trying to find it later.

XD It's quite nostalgic to see people still calling me Soushirei/Soushi/Soush/any other variation. Not that I mind; it somewhat helps me know which generation of KH-vids members I'm dealing with. Haha.

Thanks again for the support! Chapter Two will most likely up on Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest, so expect some updates by then.

Thanks, Shikamarus Shadow, Axel, for your input.
I've gotten the same criticism from many other people as well, and I know it's probably one of the weaknesses in my writing, and yes, I'm working on it... I hope. Haha.

Yeah, I read the thread that Roxas made regarding his 'leaving' of kh-vids, and it's unfortunate to see him go when I just came back. Please be sure to send him my regards as well if you see him, and tell him thanks for appreciating my writing.

I'll post Chapter Two in a few days so if any of you are still interested in reading more, perhaps subscribing to this thread may help give you all some notice.

Thanks again for your comments and criticisms!

    Johnny Five is alive!

I wasn't particularly fond of his golden-chrome make-over at the end of the movie series, but he certainly was the most captivating AI I've ever seen.

    Consider this my bump.

I noticed that this thread got some hits over the past few days, so I'm assuming there have been people who read the prologue already, and hopefully those who read it enjoyed it. Here's Chapter One.

    -- Chapter One --
And there we are. Chapter One. If there are any among you who'd like to read more of it, it'd be really great if you could respond to the thread showing your interest, perhaps some thoughts on the work as well if you like. I don't mean this as a way to beg for reviews or feedback, just I need some indication if there are any readers among you whom I'm doing this for, as I would gladly oblige.

If this thread sinks into a deeper hiatus, I'll have to assume there isn't much interest and discontinue posting up new chapters. I have to manually edit these chapters as I paste them in, so if there isn't anyone I see that I have to do that for then I won't waste anyone's time.

    Thanks again, everyone.

If it becomes official, I wouldn't be surprised to see KH1 ported to the DS.
The Kingdom Hearts franchise could see some success on the Wii but I highly doubt the mainstream lineage will be emphasized on it. I can see possible spin-offs or side-stories for the Wii, much like FFVII: Crisis Core for the PSP, but I'm pretty certain the official KH3 will stay on the Sony line.

Square-Enix needs their high-end graphics, enough said.

The official statement was that Square-Enix at this point has *not* decided which next-gen console will take over the Kingdom Hearts franchise.

What this *does* mean, is that KH3 will most likely not see a PS2 release. This isn't a surprise since it may take them another four years to complete--and four years in gaming hardware is a lifetime, so by that time the price of the PS3 may go down (even if just by a little).

Frankly, it's not a surprising thing to imagine KH3 will be on PS3. The PS2, quite frankly, is dead in terms of its technology. Many game reviews for end-console titles like Rogue Galaxy, FFXII--even KH2!--have mentioned how the graphics 'show the age of the PS2'. The era of the PS2 is already at its zenith--it's a very unlikely and illogical choice to release KH3 on the PS2.

The truth is that people do. Many people have invested in a Nintendo Wii *just* for the anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl. As well, many polls and surveys have confirmed that people have bought PS3s in anticipation for the Fabula Nova Crystallis.

It's not so much that people buy a console for 'one' game. In actuality, finding that 'one' game is the most important aspect for many people to consider when choosing to buy a console. This is because of the expectation that there will be many more to come in the future. Purchasing the next-gen consoles is never about "I'm going to buy it for this game and never touch the console again". That 'one' game is the incentive to invest and anticipate future title interests.

I suppose this might seem a little redundant since I made a new thread about my fic, but seeing as I'd find it problematic and disorganized to post my chapters on this thread, I think I might as well follow suit and at least make an announcement about it here.

A Coming Soon Fanfiction: Kingdom Hearts III - The Revival (Working Title)

Most of the information is in the specific thread located here so for any of you who're looking for a KH3 fic to read, hopefully mine will interest you ^^.

As for release date... I'm going to pull a Square-Enix and estimate Summer 2007, but who really knows. You can read the referenced thread for more details.

Apparently there is a movie in the works.

    Kingdom Hearts Movie

Also, Square-Enix is *not* going to be involved with the production, it's strictly a Disney-directed film---that can't be good.

I'm just sad that Nomura wasn't able to get the dual-audio like he wanted to with the original release--and I'm even more disappointed that now that he had time for his Final Mix, he still didn't make it happen.

Oh how it would make my day for english text, japanese audio. My kanji isn't up to speed so that makes some menus difficult to navigate, but anyway.

And yeah, Irino Miyo's voice deepened. I didn't notice how much it did until I rewatched an anime series he voiced in back in 2001. Puberty for the win.
