Which side will you take? Whose fight will you support? In this world of monsters and men, there are no right or wrong choices. Welcome to the Witcher. OOC Thread Spoiler Veera knelt in the dirt, reaching down to take a small amount of earth from the tracks. She had been on the trail for the last two weeks, hunting her prey with the tenacity of a bloodhound. The signs here led her to believe she was less then a day behind, and as she stood, her yellow eyes scanning the trees, they narrowed. She didn't trust the peacefulness of the woods for a moment. True to her instincts, a pack of rabid dogs emerged from the trees, snarling and growling as they surrounded her. She shut her eyes as she reached for the steel sword that hung from her back, her black hair obscuring her face for a moment before she launched into her attack, catching the first attacker in the throat. Hot blood spattered across her face, but her expression didn't change. Minutes later, she wiped her blade clean on the grass before kneeling next to the first body. Cutting open the dog's stomach, she discovered a human hand, and several still intact fingers. Shit. She might already be too late. She cut what she could from the dog's body, storing the meat in her pack before searching the other bodies. After concluding that besides a few more cuts of stringy meat there was no loot, she set off into the forest, her pace a quick jog. Spoiler Zack examined his face in the cracked mirror, brushing his hair to one side before exiting the small house. He stood on the doorstep for a moment before descending the steps and meshing with the marketplace crowd. He kept his head down and his hands shoved in his pockets as he quickly made his way to the usual stall. The merchant there, a friend, quickly looked around before shoving something into Zack's hands and turning away. Zack moved on, stowing the item in his pocket. It was only when he was safe in an abandoned alleyway, his only company a drunkard who was sleeping in his own piss. He had been waiting on this item for a month. The silver dagger wasn't actually made of silver, but of tin. He carefully fastened it to his belt, a tiny bit of relief soothing the constant sea of anxiety in his stomach. It might not make a huge difference, and a witcher certainly would know real silver, but none of the common people, the ones he was around every day, would claim he was a doppler, or worst yet, turn him into the witchers. He might yet live another day, in the town of Oxenfurt. Spoiler Teriana knelt in the grass, gently pulling the white flower's stem from the ground. She needed to find one patch, and then she would have enough for the potions she desired to make. As she rose, gently pressing a hand to her aching back, no one from a distance would have mistaken her for anything but a young farmer's wife. However, her simple clothing was nothing but a disguise, and her hair, while tangled, hid a solemn face with fiery, tenacious eyes. She made sure to place the handful of flowers gently in the basket on her arm before descending into the nearby cave. She needed mushrooms as well, and while she feared no monster the caves could breed, she knew that it would be far better to enter the darkness with the light of day behind her, then to try and find her way in the darkness.
All are accepted. I'll open the thread now.
Spoiler Tessa held her breath during the entire time Hunter spoke. Only after he left did she press the side of her cheek to the cold surface of the table, her eyes on Zack. As he turned towards her, she mouthed, "If you go after him, I will end your existence." Zack paled and turned his face the other way, covering himself with his arms. Tessa straightened back up in time to give Olivia a small smile. "I thought it was a good idea Olivia. Do you have more, at least? I mean, I'd be kind of scared to try it out myself, but if I could help you, I would." She offered in a quiet voice. Hunter might not have agreed that it was good, but he didn't have to go and break it. And make more of a mess for them to clean up. Along that line of thinking, she pulled herself over the table, her legs dangling in the air for a moment as she grabbed for a rag before sliding back, her feet touching down with a small tapping sound. "I got this." She told Adelina before kneeling on the ground and scrubbing at the potion with the rag. "There's no sense in making you do all the work around here." Spoiler Zack felt angry for Olivia, and sorry for Adelina. It was nearly enough for him to answer Hunter's challenge, but one look at Tessa's face and he felt fear. She would never let him do something as monumentally stupid as fighting for sport, not when they had other more important duties to worry about. And Zack didn't have the social standing that Hunter did, regardless of his attitude. If it came down to either Hunter or Zack, barring murder, then Hunter would get away with it every time. And Tessa didn't have the means to bail him out. So he let the other man go, despite a deep desire to find him and ask him why the hell he had to be such an asshole. Especially to Adelina. Zack felt his heart tug a little bit as he watched the fairy work. Hers was a sad one, and she already did so much for them here. "Um....Adelina, do you need help with anything?" He asked, before receiving a glare from Tessa. "Oh, right. Sorry about your potion Olivia. And hi." He added with a tiny, embarrassed wave since his creator was too lazy to see if he had said hi to her before. Spoiler Veera was still experiencing copious amounts of angst because of her role in Bill's death, and unable to see what the princess or Drake or Gale might be up to.
Spoiler Ana jolted into the waking word just as Hunter began to speak. Wait, had he actually used her name? And he was...apologizing? Despite her annoyance at being woken so suddenly, she found herself stunned into silence as she listened to him speak. He was actually apologizing for his behavior. Hunter. She looked up at the blue sky, just to make sure the world hadn't yet ended. It seemed everything was still in order, but she double checked to make sure there was no smoke or burning houses anyway. "It's....fine I guess." She stifled a yawn as she stretched before getting to her feet, scythe in hand. "But if someone's going to wake me up from a well deserved nap, they could at least do it a little more gently." She grumbled, despite having told Zeal to yell at her just minutes before. Still...she found herself kind of in awe, feeling like she had witnessed a historical moment. She committed it to memory, in case it never happened again. "So, just Aedion and then we can go save people and do great stuff." She sighed, rubbing her temples with her free hand. Spoiler Kala was still frozen doing whatever she did last, waiting for the creator to move the monster. Spoiler Tessa wandered the streets of the small town, the bow gently bumping against her back as she strolled along. The people here friendly, but they seemed to be hiding a shadow in their hearts. She frowned as she looked around, taking in the sights and sounds. Yes, something was wrong. She could almost a finger on it, but not quite, as though it was a thought that appeared and slipped away. "Hm. Perhaps I should stay for a while." She murmured, her bow a sudden comfort at her back. Her fingers itched to grab an arrow from her quiver, but she withheld the desire. It would not speak well for her that she drew her bow in the safety of the town borders. And she didn't want to start any trouble right off the bat.
Spoiler Drake arrived. Of course he did, he always did. If nothing else, he was reliable. Veera had reevaluated her position after Drake had taken out three of the titans, including the one that had started towards her. Now only one remained, and as she ran towards it, trying to formulate a plan in her mind, her eyes darted to Susanne's body. Oh Susanne. The girl's body had been crushed against the tree, her back bent at an awkward angle, her eyes staring up at the sky. At least her last vision had been that of freedom. Determination filled Veera, and with a growl she launched herself into the air, sending the single hook she had remaining, into the titan's chest. As it pulled forward she was yanked closer, nearly losing her balance as she flew towards the titan. Readying her double blades, she braced herself against the titan's stomach, leaping off before it had the chance to grab her, and grinning wickedly as its hand slammed into its own abdomen. The attack didn't seem to really phase it, even though its body bent nearly in two. But then again, she wasn't sure if she could believe that titans felt pain. As it straightened, she detached the hook and let it reattach into its face, swinging up and resting on its shoulder. Staring into its eyes for a moment, she tried to find a spark of life, of any kind of humanity. All that returned her gaze was the lifeless look of a zombie as it reached for her one against. She ducked and ran along the shoulder to the back of the neck, detaching the hook and slashing as she ran. "I don't think so." She hissed, digging in the metal of her blades deep before yanking out. She remained on the titan as it went down, bracing herself for impact by bending her knees. It still jarred her when the titan landed, and she hopped off, ignoring the quivering in her legs as she whispered for her horse, pressing her face into the neck of the animal and breathing in the familiar scent to calm both her emotions and her adrenaline. In the back of her mind, she saw Bill's face staring up at her, and she squeezed her eyes shut. It's all my fault.
Because once we've met someone we never truly forget them.

She has happened upon Neoph's village by mistake, and is currently looking for a purpose. Other: Yay for the bitc*hy yet bad ass*ery.
Spoiler Veera didn't panic as she felt the footfalls of the titans, and her horse neighed nervously. She reached to her left side and grabbed the flare gun that was always attached to her hip, raising it up into the air and firing the purple flare. As the smoke fired up into the blue sky she stood up in the saddle, finding her center and using it to balance as the horse galloped onward. She heard the scream, and the sickening sound of a body being crushed. Veera didn't look behind, didn't check to see who was no longer riding. "Spread out!" She yelled, firing her 3D maneuvering gear and caught on the nearest tree. As she was yanked backwards, she spun, the silver of her blades sliding out as she was pulled over the head of the second titan. In the back of her mind she noticed with satisfaction that Gale had already taken one down. Good. She cut the line on the right side of her body, leaving the one on the left. It pulled her body into a spinning whirlwind as she curled up her legs to avoid being caught in the line. She used the force of the spinning to cut into the back of the titan's neck, cutting a large chunk out of its neck with a sickening, yet successfully sounding crack. As the brown colored titan fell, she fired the device again, zooming towards the next tree and out of a reaching titan's grasp. Using the tree, she turned, pressing her feet against the trunk before rebounding towards the titan, cutting a branch from the tree out of her way. Seconds too late, she could only watch as Carla was yanked out of the air, the titan grabbing the wire that nearly could have saved her life. The woman's shriek was still echoing in her ears as the body was chomped in half. Blood splattered the air, spots of it landing on Veera's hair and face as the titan swallowed the second half of her comrade before turning a grinning face to Veera. "Not today, Satan." She whispered as she redirected the hook to dig into the side of the titan's face; a risky move. As she swung around the back and released the mechanisms, causing her to free fall, she landed on the back of the titan's neck, stabbing down with a scream of anger. It took two criss crossing blows before she cut into the core, and the titan began to fall. Veera jumped up, pressing the mechanisms once more to hook into the tree above her. As she hung in the air, she noticed a single figure below the falling body of the titan, yanking erratically at his foot, trapped underneath a fallen branch. The branch that she had cut out of the way in order to save Carla. "Bill! MOVE!" She screamed, cutting the line and dropping to the ground faster then was safe. Even as she was falling, Bill's eyes looked up to meet hers, before being completely covered by the titan's body as it crushed to the ground. She had the presence of mind to start the 3D maneuvering gear, hooking onto a tree near where Gale had stood. As he pulled himself back to battle, she rested on the tree, standing with her feet spread in a battle ready stance. The only survivors besides herself were Gale and Susanne. She loaded her flare gun, and fired it once more, purple again. If Drake didn't respond to this, she would fire blue, and get them the hell out. Leader she may not be, but she didn't want anyone else to die today. That was before two more titans appeared. Noticing at the last second, she felt her line yanked back as one of the titans, grinning maniacally. She cut the wire, which was on her right side, and fell to the ground, rolling a few feet before standing up. The two titans, not more then twelve feet, approached her as she gripped her swords with renewed purpose. She might be at a disadvantage, but she wasn't out, not yet.
All accepted.

Spoiler Tessa shook Akari's hand with a bemused look. Do we get a choice in helping? I thought the king pretty much commanded it. Still, it would be good to show off what she could do. Then she wouldn't be stuck here while the others went out on raids and missions and tactical strikes. "Sounds like you have work to do." She turned to Griffin as Akari ran to follow the king, shrugging. "I guess I do. They did invite you too, after all. She let her hand rest on the 3D maneuvering gear strapped to her waist. "Although it's a bit more nerve wracking testing out new gear instead of just fighting." She had a sudden image of crouching in front of a titan, only to have the cloak fail and her position be revealed just as the titan reached down to wrap its fingers around her waist. She shuddered and turned away from Griffin, schooling her face into a less frightened expression. "So, I'm supposed to meet Zack for lunch. You could always come with. I gotta go tell him about the training grounds, anyway." Even though she knew, deep down they wouldn't be facing anything too challenging just yet, she still felt the little tremor of fear that always appeared when the thought of battle came into her head. With a soft smile at Griffin, she turned and headed towards the dining hall. If he wanted to come with, she was sure he would follow. Opening the door, she blinked at the sudden dim of the room, letting her eyes adjust to the contrasting light levels. Spotting Zack slouching at the bar, she sighed and walked over to him, hands on her hips as she heard Hunter speak. Totally ignoring the other people, she smacked Zack across the back of the neck. "Starting fights?" She asked demandingly. Spoiler Zack blinked as Olivia walked past, but didn't make any comment. At least if Hunter started something, he didn't have to take the sole blame. Then again, the other man seemed to be content with the offer of food, any food. Zack wanted to reply, but the door swinging open cut him off as he immediately sensed his impending doom. He hunched over as tiny footsteps crossed the room, waiting for the pain that was sure to come as Hunter finished speaking. Sure enough, Tessa smacked him across the back of his neck, inducing a stinging in the skin as he turned, shame faced to look at his much smaller friend. "Starting fights?" She asked him, hands on her hips and a frown on her face. Shit. "No." he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck to ease the sting of her slap. "I was just trying to help Adelina." Tessa glanced at the mentioned girl and her frown deepened. Uh oh. Zack quickly scooted over as Tessa pulled herself up to the bar, glancing from Zack on her one side to Hunter on the other. She waved distractedly at Olivia before crossing her arms over her chest. "You both are stupid." She announced.n "You." She turned to Zack. "Adelina didn't ask for help. And you made her cry. So apologize to the lady." Just as Zack opened his mouth, her eyelid twitched. "I'm sorry, Adelina." He said quickly, sitting up straight. " And you, quit being a bully." She pointed one finger at Hunter."More girls would be interested in you if ninety five percent of your dick didn't disappear into your personality. Leave Adelina alone, or else I'll find a way to put laxative in your food." "Hi, Olivia, Adelina." She greeted the girls. Zack pressed his forehead against the table for the inevitable Hunter blow out. It appeared Tessa had lost her fear of the other man, somewhere on the board walk here. He turned his gaze and noticed her hand clenched in her lap. Or maybe not. Spoiler Veera was riding along, trying to enjoy the horse ride because there was nothing else her writer could really think of doing. She felt uneasy, and it wasn't just because Drake had put her in charge, or wasn't yet here. No, this was the uneasy that had helped her survive longer then her thirteen years. This was the uneasy that told her there was a titan somewhere nearby, and she urged her horse on, not daring to slow. If the creature was indeed close, and had already sensed them, it would only be a matter of time before the monster burst from the trees and tried to scoop them up. She glanced back at the scouts behind her, wondering if she should let them in on her intuition. It wasn't like she had a reputation as a leader to worry about. She held up a hand, using the signal that indicated they needed to be wary (because this writer doesn't know what that might be) before dropping her hand to her 3D maneuvering gear, making sure everything was in place. Of course, she could be wrong. She hadn't been before, but at this point, she would rather be wrong for the first time, then deal with whatever might be coming her way. And that's when eight titans, none of them more then sixteen feet, burst from the trees.
I'd give it a shot.
Spoiler "Do I look like the sword type?" Ana asked, trying to go for humor as she reached over her head and slipped the scythe into the sling/holster. "I suppose that's fair." She replied to his second question, finding a safe looking wall to lean on and rest her head. She was still tired, having been unable to sleep before going to the meeting. Couldn't hurt anything now, could it? "On second thought, I'm going to take a quick nap." She told Zeal with a soft smile. "Just yell at me when they get here, or something." It crossed her mind that she was placing quite a bit of trust in this man that she had only just met, but if she was being honest with herself, he gave off a better vibe then Hunter. Aedion, she might have trusted with the same, but he was hardly here right now. So it fell to this man. "You don't need to watch me, or anything." She added as she let herself slide to the ground, pulling the scythe back out of the sling and letting it balance across her knees as she rested her hands on the wooden pole. "I'm a light sleeper." With that, she closed her eyes, head leaning against the wall, and scythe resting across the her knees as she fell into a light slumber, hoping to replenish the energy her body needed so desperately.

Spoiler Tessa wandered along the boardwalk with her hands behind her back, humming in a carefree manner as she headed for the dining hall. Room. Whatever. Stopping on her way, she spotted a rather small, oddly shaped figure. "Griffin?" She recalled his name after a moment's hesitation, strolling towards mysterious person. "Hey, how's it going today?" She asked cheerfully, clasping her hands tightly behind her back. For whatever reason, Tessa always felt the need to hug Griffin whenever she saw him. She always mentioned to withhold herself, sensing that perhaps the other person didn't like their personal space to be invaded. Spoiler Zack bolted along the walkway, certain that he was going to be late. Tessa would never let it go if he was. They always had lunch; always. He skidded to a stop before the dining room and halted, trying to catch his breath before entering. He scanned the room, taking a small breath of relief before settling down at one end of the long bar. It was then he noticed Hunter pestering Adelina. "Hey man, lay off her. At least she helps out around here." He commented, leaning on his elbow and resting the side of his face in his palm. "It wouldn't kill you to actually make an effort to do something." Hunter didn't scare him like he scared Tessa. The man was one of confrontation, and while Zack didn't seek it out, he didn't shy away when it presented itself. Like a challenge, he decided as he watched through half lidded eyes, waiting for the other man to make a move. Spoiler Veera reined in her horse, managing to keep her seat as the leopard attack their leader. He seemed rather calm about it, and ordered her on ahead. She grimaced for a moment before smoothing her facial expression into one of nothing. "As you command, sir. Squad, resume formation around me." She commanded, turning her horse while keeping one eye on the leopard. Although the two never involved outsiders in their little battles, she wanted to be ready for the day when they did. "Follow my lead." She commanded the remainders of the squad before turning and kicking her horse into a gallop. Most likely Drake wouldn't catch up with them until they reached the city, and while she hated to wait and put the rest of the team in danger, she knew that if she spearheaded the raid itself, it would be a disaster. She simply wasn't the tactictional type. And that was fine by her. She left Drake and his leopard princess behind, her eyes set ahead and her brow furrowed in concentration, as if by staring hard enough she would be able to see the giant wall that kept everyone in, and them out.
Tessa got tired of attacking and thus used Geokinesis on the Kolossus because she didn't know how much longer she could last.
Veera walked gracefully down the hallway of darkness. It was more of a corridor, really. A long, never ending corridor that seemed to have no boundaries, and no walls. It was unnerving and mesmerizing, and at first she had found herself delighted to be here. Hours later, she was less amused. A headache was growing behind her eyes, probably from the strain of trying to peer through the darkness. She felt cold, but part of her mind told her this was impossible. Could darkness even be considered cold? It made sense in some plane of understanding, she supposed. Sun was light and heat, and so the opposite was darkness. Perhaps she should have taken up philosophy, she thought with a grin. All humor aside, this endless corridor was going to drive her insane. Maybe not in the next minute, or even the next hour, but it would happen. She just wanted to get somewhere, instead of nowhere. Her legs were weary, but neither did she want to rest. Her mind warred with her body and her body warred with her mind. Rest or stay? Rest or stay? It was a constant rhythm with each step her feet would take forward. But if she rested, she would get nowhere. Somewhere inside, some foolish hope remained that she would find something, anything in this endless dark. But it wouldn’t be long before that hope died too.
Spoiler Tessa continued to pummel the Kolosuss with her martial arts, surprised and pleased that it had worked. The wound in her side ached but was not an issue as she continued to fight. She paid little attention to the other participants of the battle other then to dodge their own attacks on the monster.
The Story The land is torn apart by rebellion. Monsters scour the earth in search of victims. In the wake of all this conflict, two sides have risen up against each other. The dopplers, misunderstood and downtrodden, using the conflict to their advantage to try and elevate their status in the world, and the witchers, oppressors of monsters and saviors of mankind, trying to stop them. Which side will you take? Whose fight will you support? In this world of monsters and men, there are no right or wrong choices. Welcome to the Witcher. Monsters I realize this is only a fraction of the monsters in the Witcher universe. If you wish to fight a certain creature but do not see it here, send me a message and I’ll link and tier it. Monsters are listed from weakest to strongest. You can easily take on a drowner or noonwraith alone, but a vampire or leshen will require preparation and/or teamwork. In order to prepare for your monster fighting, you can use magic, brew healing potions, and concoct oils to put on your weapons. Because this is a simplified version, the only oils used will be beast, necromorph, cursed, and relic. There is a category by each monster’s species that will tell you which oil to use. -Beast- Rabid dogs, wolves and bears Basilisks Wyverns Cockatrice Endrega Endrega Worker Endrega Warrior Endrega Drone Dragons -Necromorph- Drowners Ghouls Graveyard Hags -Cursed- Noonwraiths Nightwraith Berserkers (For the purposes of this RP they will only be able to change into large bears.) Werewolves (For the purposes of this RP, if you fight a werewolf at the full moon, you will either need a large group of people, or you will need an adult very very badly. (In other words there will be lots of damage.)) Sirens Vampires -Relic- Griffins Leshen Races Mages: Sorcerers or Sorceresses that have been trained to control the four elements. They age slower than normal humans and can transport themselves long distances in the blink of an eye. They are also infertile. Druids are mages that live with nature. You can choose to be proficient in one or all four of the elements, but the more you choose, the weaker you will be in each area. Focusing in one will make you stronger as a mage. All adult mages that have been trained are able to teleport themselves using a portal. All mages are weakened by dimeritium bombs. The metal can be melded into chains to keep the mage from escaping. Dopplers: shapshifters that can take the form of any human being they see. When not changed in the form of a human have a troll like appearance. They can copy the voice and mannerisms of their intended target, as well as birth and scar marks. They cannot collect memories, and cannot copy the clothing or tools. Dopplers are vulnerable to silver in any form. Witcher: Humans that have been taken and extensively trained, physically and mentally conditioned to become monster slayers. They are able to use a special brand of magic, concoct potions that are poisonous to anyone else, and have increased physical speed, strength, reflexes and endurance. Witchers have amber eyes with cat pupils that allow them to see in the dark, increased resistance to all disease and poisons, increased life spans, and they are infertile. They are proficient in the Five Signs, but normally pick two to specialize in. They carry two swords, a steel for men and beasts, and a silver for monsters. They also wear a medallion given only to their kind that vibrates when in the presence of monsters. This includes dopplers. Witchers can use their medallions to communicate long distances, but only the oldest of the witchers can try to specifically reach another. And just because you call, doesn't always mean there will be an answer, or the message will be understood. Please do not abuse this system, or I will add a regulator to it as well. Witcher and Human magic Aard - telekinetic burst of energy Axii -momentary mind control, causing the enemy to become dazed Igni -a burst of fire erupts from your palm. Quen - a magical shield that protects the caster for a few minutes Yrden -creates a magical, stationary circle that slows down enemies that enter Humans: The main inhabitants of this RP. Humans are able to take care of monsters on their own, but only with the appropriate tools. They are unable to use magic except for the five signs, but can brew potions and hold various occupations. Humans can only use any two of the Five Signs. Rules 1. You can have both a mage and a witcher, but you must then create a third character, either human or doppler. Plz. 2. There is an ongoing story, but no one will be forced to participate. If you do take a pivotal role, you will be required to keep up with it as necessary. Deviations are allowed, but must be run by me first. 3. If you’re going to do something that could dramatically alter anything, please run it by me first. 4. This rule combines with #12. There will be some situations, approved by me as the RP creator, where death is inevitable. When this is not the case, please have the character owner's permission to maim or murder their creation. In such cases that it is inevitable, you will be given at least two chances to escape said situation. 5. No godmodding. Please and thank you. 6. No character limit, but please keep up with the ones you have. 7. Keep it appropriate by KHV rules. 8. Minimum post length is three sentences. Please. 9. Please at least commit to posting once a week. I understand we all have outside lives, but be considerate. 10. I realize that with the application of magic there is a high potential to be overpowered. Play nicely and fairly. No, your mage can't create an earthquake that rocks the entire hemisphere. 11. (Pertains to mages only) For any and all portals, unless I state otherwise, there will need to be a location roll. This is to keep the system from being abused. Please contact me by skype or PM for this. 12. Besides the use of magic and magical creatures, this RP is to be as realistic as possible. That means no bullsh*t escapes from bad situations, no deus ex machina unless approved by me. Expect consequences for your actions. This rule combines with #4, and all such inevitable death situations are run by me first.
