Tessa was surprised, but not offended. "Maybe we were destined to meet." She said sweetly, smiling before turning back to the crowd. "I didn't mean to make you mad though. I'm sorry. I forget some people don't like to be touched."

For Tessa, a child who had been brought up and loving hugs and pats on the head, touching was as natural as breathing.

"You should have more faith in people." She continued, letting her arms sway gently in front of her as they walked.

Far far from home. Perhaps it was only her imagination, but he seemed melancholy when he said it. But then, she was sad about not being home. Perhaps she was only putting her feelings into his words.

That didn't make sense. She shook her head, then replied, "I'm Tessa. I came from a long way too, I think." She had never seen this place before, but, she couldn't remember getting here either.

"Everything will be alright. You'll see." She couldn't say whether the words were meant to reassure him, or herself.

Tessa blinked, her mouth slightly open. "The Hero?...." So this man was looking for him too. But...."He can't be a bad person! He can't." She protested, her hands clasped in front of her as though in prayer.

"Maybe he was just trying to persuade the bad man to stop doing such awful things!" She couldn't, wouldn't believe it. There must be a misunderstanding.

"I'll come with you and prove you wrong." She aid stubbornly, grabbing for the man's hand, intent on dragging him towards the battle. In any case, they needed to stop that man. He probably didn't mean to do bad things, but maybe if someone told him that he was hurting people, he would stop. Maybe he just needed someone to help him.

"Don't worry, I'll stop him from hurting anyone." She assured the man, tossing a smile over her shoulder. "He probably just needs someone to tell him he's doing something wrong." Because the Hero couldn't be bad.....could he?

Despite Tessa having pretty good reaction skills and eyesight, she was suddenly surprised by an entire girl being tossed at her. Instinctively Tessa opened her arms and braced her feet, planting them firmly. She caught the girl, who was a little taller then her, and fell backwards, becoming the soft cushion that kept the other female from being hurt. Despite her best efforts, Tessa could feel throbbing in her back where a rock was jabbing into her skin, and bruises forming on her chest and ribcage.

She gently shoved the girl, whom she felt really bad for manhandling without permission, off her own body so that she could breathe. "I'm sorry." She apologized breathlessly, wincing as she pressed a hand to the wound on her back. It hurt, but it wouldn't be deadly. However, it had set her off to a rather bad start. She would have to go into battle with an injury, unless she wanted to waste a healing item. "I didn't know what else to do."

She turned to the mysterious figure who had tossed the girl, and screamed out, "What the hell?!" Before pushing herself up to a sitting position, one hand still pressed to the right side of her back. Hopefully her kidney wasn't damaged. That would just be a perfect start to the day.

Bryce glanced back as a girl shouted after him. Did she mean any harm? He didn't see her moving towards them, and shrugged. There was no need to retort, if the only end game would be violence. He knew Tessa wanted to get as far away from the crowd as possible, and where Tessa went, he would follow. Although at some point they should figure out how to view a map, because come to think of it he didn't want to stay in this village longer then necessary. He flipped the girl off and silently turned to follow his sister.

Tessa glanced back, and frowned at Bryce. "Causing a commotion?" She mouthed, raising an eyebrow. Bryce was too busy flipping the girl off to notice, and she smacked her hand against her forehead in a moment of exasperation before turning and darting through the crowd. All she wanted was to get out of this crowd, before she started to panic, but no, Bryce had to go and pick fights. "So help me little brother, if she comes after you, I'm not helping you out." She muttered, slipping through a pair of two sobbing girls. Bryce chuckled softly behind her, and she grinned. After she kicks the sh*t out of you, then maybe. She added silently in her mind.

Ana pressed her lips together, lowering her gaze for a moment. She didn't realize Hunter was staring at her, and was thankfully saved from such a realization by her mind's occupation with Neoph's words. He wanted her join. Sure, fine. Maybe she could, maybe she would. But by the sounds of it, the people that he had grouped up would not be efficient. She glanced over the faces, noting the two mutes the white haired man had just mentioned, and her heart twisted. One of them was just a boy, and for a moment she was reminded of her sister.

She clenched her jaw to keep the tears from creeping into her eyes, and cleared her throat before pausing. What am I getting myself into?
"I suggest that I become part of the second team, and the boy who will not speak may join the first team in my place." She shuffled her feet, slightly embarrassed. "Or someone else may, if they think they should do better in my place. I think I would be best suited for the second team, in any case." Recon suggested there could be fighting, and while she definitely needed to work on her skills, perhaps the heat of battle was not the best place.

It didn't cross her mind that by speaking, she had unofficially joined Neoph's little band of heroes.

Kala didn't hesitate before leaping into the air towards the giant foe. She hadn't seen one of these before, and she didn't care. The song of battle was strong in her blood and the sweet siren call of chaos clouded her mind to all other thoughts, save those of killing. She slashed down and across in a cross like shape before dropping to the ground and turning to face the foe. It was unclear if she had injuried it, being that these things didn't bleed, but she was sure of her aim, and confident in herself.

She rose to her feet and turned, slanting her blade to the side as she wiped her forehead quickly, waiting to see what the monster did next. This is what I am meant to do.

Ana rubbed sighed and leaned back into the seat, rubbing her back against the soft material in order to get comfortable. "Well, I guess we're doing it together then." She replied, turning her face to look out the window. Please let it be a peaceful ride the rest of the way. She silently prayed, pulling her knees up to her chest and lacing her hands around them. The dagger at her side, nearly forgotten, pricked into her skin, and she shifted, yanking it out and setting it on the side of the seat before resuming her previous pose.

"Think you can teach me how to use that?" She muttered to herself, suddenly anxious. A legendary weapon? She didn't know anything about that. Or did she? Perhaps Sapphire had mentioned it, and she had missed it. Damn. "Tell me more about this weapon then." She suggested. She didn't know how much longer the ride would be, but she hated silence. It caused her to think too much, and right now thinking was the last thing she wanted to do.

Tessa glanced at her brother before dropping his hand and letting it hang at her side. "Thinking what I'm thinking?" she asked, her fingers twitching slightly. Crowds had always made her nervous, but never more so then now. People around them were grouping up, making friends and sharing resources. While she ached to join them, she knew Bryce would never agree. He had seen too much of the bad in the world to trust people anymore.

Pulling up the screen for her inventory, she quickly let her fingers slide through the items until they fell on the <Weapon Evolution Potion>. Something told her it would be important to keep around. "You got this thing too, Bryce?" She closed the screen with a flick of her hand and turned her gaze towards the outside of the crowd. Without another word she slipped away, sliding through the virtual bodies until she had reached the outside of the crowd. It was time for them to move on, and perhaps find a way out of the game. Before their parents found out, and tormented their living bodies. Before it would be too late.

At his sister's words, Bryce opened his inventory. There, the <Weapon Evolution Potion> rested, one of the few items he had this early in the game. Also in there were his two weapons of choice. He decided against equipping them just yet, although his sister had already produced her own pistol in her hand. He remembered vividly her skill, and decided that if anyone attacked them now, she would be enough to defend them until he was able to equip his own.

He followed her, thrusting his way through the crowd where Tessa slipped through. It could have been argued that she fit into smaller spaces then he did, but he just didn't care. If they didn't get out of his way, he would make them. He could see Tessa's shoulders tense, and he wondered if she was thinking about their parents. He certainly tried his best not to. God only knew what they would do when they found out their children were trapped in a dreaded video game. They had tried to ban the VRMMO's, to little avail. Now that their predictions had come true, (only somewhat), he shuddered to think what they would do. Best to try and find a way out quickly. And that was certainly wouldn't be found by standing around here like a bunch of sheep ready to slaughter.

Keeping his eyes from making contact with any other players in order to avoid confrontation, he and Tessa arrived at the edge of the crowd. As with all things, he left the decision for Tessa. Should they try to explore the village, or make their way into the unknown? His older sister always knew what was best, and he trusted her no less in this world then he did in the real one.

Tessa corrected her course of direction, heading towards the stranger who had yelled. From this distance, she could sense he was a man, and that he was strong, not only in the physical sense. As she slowed her pace, she pushed her hair out of her face and exhaled, trying to catch her breath quickly in order to keep from appearing rude.
"Something I ought to know?" She asked, tilting her head in confusion. "I know that you ought to stop shooting at people!" She corrected him, remembering her original course of action.
"You could have hurt those two over there! It's dangerous to do something like that."

She shook her head, hands braced on her hips. "I'm sure that if they angered you somehow, you could patch things up with a few words and an apology. It's never any good to resort to trying to kill someone simply because of a disagreement." As naive as Tessa was, it never occurred to her that her words might anger the man before her, or that she was wrong. Relenting, she let her hands drop, clasping her fingers in front of her, and smiling sweetly.

"I could always go with you, if you need someone to help you apologize. Are you here for the Hero too?" Perhaps they could travel together! She was so weary of walking this road by herself, with no end in sight.

Tessa peered through the fog, her heart beating a little more quickly than was normal. She couldn't hear a sound in this dense white blanket of clouds, or even make out details in her surroundings. All she could do, all she had been doing was pressing forward, trying to keep herself calm as she walked quickly through the cold air, arms wrapped around herself to keep from shivering. In retrospect, she could have dressed more warmly for the occasion, but in all honesty she hadn't even understood completely what the occasion was.

Wealth. Power. Knowledge. It was the last of these that Tessa craved, and it was all three that had been promised, should she emerge the victor. She wasn't confident enough in her strength that she could, but she had faith that her perseverance would pay off, in the end. Perhaps after this was over, she would be able to continue searching, to find the answers she so desperately craved.

A tall tower appeared in the distance, and Tessa increased her pace, striding towards it with purpose until she appeared from the mist, her hands going nervously to the gloves tied at her waist. Perhaps, in retrospect, she should have put them on.

Tessa reached out and took her brother's hand, tightly squeezing it as the people around them began to react in different ways. She herself wanted to cry, to scream and shout. She wanted to pound her fists against the ground and ask why, why this had happened. But she couldn't. She had to remain strong for Bryce, for her younger brother.

She clenched her pistol tightly with her other hand, wishing with all her might that she could have shot the ******* who had done this. But he was gone, and she was left here, with her brother amongst the masses of people. What now?

Bryce held his sister's clammy hand tightly. She was afraid, he could sense it. She would also never admit her fear. She felt she had to be strong for him, to be the mother that he had never had. He would rather keep her as his sister, fighting side by side with her through the virtual world.

Instead of focusing on the enemy that had trapped them here, he looked around. Desperation made people do strange things, and if someone was going to attack out of desperation for their gear, he would be ready. Tessa's safety was the priority, above all else.

Tessa sighed. Left behind again. She pushed her hair back from her face and exhaled through her lips, both frustrated and sad. What was she supposed to do now?

Go back the way she came, or go forward. She decided to head back. Thea and Skadi had both taken off to pursue their own stories, and they didn't need a tag along. She would go back to the guild hall. Perhaps, if no one there could help her, it was time to move on. Perhaps this wasn't the place for her to be.

Ana was cut off from answering by Glen's cry of "Take the wheel!" As she clumsily dove for the circular object, not bothering to question exactly why she was doing so, Glen opened the air lock and jumped out. Ana's mouth dropped open as she watched him disappear from view, only to attack the meteor with his keyblade. She had only ever seen a keyblade once before, and the vision of the magical weapon was no less stunning the second time around.

But what was even more amazing was Glen's complete overreaction to a meteor. Perhaps he had noticed the greenish tinge to her face, or perhaps he had realized he wasn't the best at dodging. Ana flinched as one of the chunks of meteor scraped the ship, mentally calculating the magnitude of the injury to her vehicle from what she could see. He was paying for that, she would see to it. Not even fancy tricks in space could keep her from taking what she was owed. Even if it was a little impressive.

She righted herself as Glen slid back into the cockpit, the keyblade disappearing from his grasp. "So who is the person you have to help then?" He asked once more, his tone indicating that what he had just done was not so impressive to himself. She blinked, opened her mouth once, but no sound came out. Shutting it, she rubbed the bridge of her nose, taking a deep breath before turning to look at him once more.

"I was looking for you. Because clearly Sapphire believes that you need an adult to watch over you."

Tessa blinked, startled out of her revere by noise. A yell, and sounds similar to battle. Letting her senses remove themselves from autopilot, she quickly let her perception flood as far as it could reach, trying to find the source of the noise. There were multiple people nearby, and they were not on the same side. Should this concern her? Probably. But Tessa believed that everyone had a core of goodness inside of them, and so she stumble skipped down the sandy dune, towards the source of the conflict.

It was a few minutes away, and as she broke into a run, her feet pounding against the dusty ground, her innocent mind flew to planning. She would get there, introduce herself, and then help them make up! After all, they had to be friends, if they knew each other's name. Surely whatever they were fighting about couldn't be so bad that they couldn't make up. And perhaps they could help her find the Hero! After all, if she found the Hero, then everything would be saved, and everyone would live happily ever after.

Ana wrapped her arms around herself, eyeing the rest of the stranger warily as the meeting drew to a close. In particular Hunter. He had called out to her at the beginning of the meeting, something she had tried to ignore and Neoph hadn't responded to. However, now Neoph wanted to see him after the meeting. And she had no idea how to find her way back to his house, much less anywhere else to go. So she waited, prickles of nervousness and some other emotions she didn't bother to identify tickling the corners of her mind as she watched. And waited.

The meeting had seemed to go well, at least in a civilized manner. No one had tried to kill each other, and no weapons had been drawn. When the bandits had called such an event, someone usually lost at least one limb, if not more. Most of them ended with a few deaths. It was strange to be amongst people who felt no need to settle their arguments with physical violence. Although...she glanced at Hunter, and the other who had approached her before. She wouldn't turn her back on them just yet.

Kala strode forward, her heart singing with happiness as she dispatched yet another Heartless. They hadn't been this bad before, but she didn't mind the challenge. There was a type of serenity to be found in the sweat that dripped from her skin, in the pounding in her chest and the harsh sound of her breathing as it whistled between her lips. This was where she was happiest, and this was where she would stay.

Or would have stayed, had the Heartless not chosen that moment to suddenly disappear. As she turned, almost lazily swinging her sword, she noticed the white, slinking body of a Nobody. Fantastic. She smiled beneath her cowl, lips curving into a brutal grimace that bared her teeth as she began to walk towards the new foe. It slipped to the left, head turning as it tried to observe her before striking. She didn't give it the chance, leaping up into the air and using the momentum to roll in a somersault, her sword slashing down as it cut the creature in half. Overkill? Maybe. Worth it? Totally.

She turned to face the others, taking a moment to wipe the sweat from her forehead before readying her sword again. "Come at me." She challenged, pulse racing with joy.

"So what were you doing outside the goddess' home?"

She tightened her grip on the side of the seat as Glen struggled to veer away from an incoming asteroid, feeling her fingertips tingling with the pressure that was used to cling to the plush material. Ana swallowed, trying to settle her stomach as Glen righted the ship, obstacle avoided. Gods help her she was going to be sick before this ride was over.

"None of your busi-" She swallowed again, more then certain that the roiling in her gut was not going to be calmed any time soon. Or perhaps it was a sign from the goddess that she needed to be nicer. "I received a mission to help someone." She allowed instead, a sheen of sweat beginning to break out over her skin. Would it be possible to puke outside the window? Why hadn't she decided to install a vomit disposing device when she last had the gummi ship updated?

Shit. She could see an incoming object appearing in the distance, heading straight for them. If he tried to avoid this one like the last one, he might end up with a newly styled shirt of vomit colored cloth.[DOUBLEPOST=1441662751][/DOUBLEPOST]Tessa gently braided her hair, flipping the long strands over her shoulder in order to reach them better as she walked along. The atmosphere had turned from cheerful to creepy very quickly, but she had no choice but to go forward. She didn't remember how she got here, nor did it matter in her mind. She had been brought here for a single purpose, to find the hero.

The wasteland around her stretched on, but she lowered her eyes to the ground in front of her, hoping not to notice. She didn't want to know that she was alone, that she was lost, and that she was going to die within a few days if she didn't find help. Instead, she focused on putting one foot in front of the other, one step at a time. She immersed herself in the memories of her happy times with her family, a small smile playing on her lips.

"This dream can only mean one thing." Her mother had exclaimed excitedly, holding a small religious object held between her her clasped fingers. "You're right. It is time we sent her to her destiny." Her father had agreed, bestowing a loving gaze upon his only child.
"Our baby girl, all grown up." Her mother wiped tears from her eyes before surrounding Tessa in a loving embrace.

So lost in the memory, Tessa didn't notice the trail of footprints beside her own, leading her deeper into the wasteland. She didn't hear the voices in the distance, or sense the other people that were ahead of her, on their own mission. All she felt was the warmth of a happy memory, and the knowledge that she was on the right path. I will find the hero, Mom. I'll make you proud.

Tessa couldn't help but giggle, hiding her smile behind her fingers. It was clear this man didn't mean any harm; he was simply drunk. She might have enjoyed a good time too, if her parents hadn't been so strict.

"Tessa." She twiddled her fingers at him in a friendly wave, all too aware that with the state he was in, he might not remember come the next morning.

Damian. The name suited him, somehow. She turned to get Thea's reaction, only to realize the girl was gone. Funny, she hadn't even said anything. Where was she?
