No it isn't. It's a hobby. Because a car you can fix, you can redo it, you can do a lot of things. It is way more than a mean of transportation.

Well, the problem with the PS2 and most, older consoles, is the fact that the tray in which the disc is put into has some breathing room. This may lead the disc to "bounce" a little bit, and also hit the plastic surrounding it. Because of this, you may see that you'll get scratches in discs.

If the marks follow the laser, however, it might actually be just wear and tear, or the laser is too powerful (which wouldn't make sense, tbh)
