I very much agree with Makaze here. There is one thing I'd like to add though, and that is the blending of the render. Instead of just smudging(?) or pull the render layer underneath your top render layer, try a couple of blending layers, smudge underneath or on top, but keep the opacity/layer properties to overlay or soft light. In my sigs, I usually have at least 4-5 layers of the render alone, to make it blend better with the background.
