Convenience, mostly. Some people have to drive all day a lot, and you really can't expect them to pull over for lunch and dinner. That's the extreme example, but even on shorter drives it's a time-saver. But like others have said, if you get in a crash because you were trying to eat a burger, cops are probably gonna consider it. The law's not absolute; it can be superseded where applicable, and things that aren't technically illegal can still count against you. They're just guidelines to aid in judgment. So each person figures out what they can and can't handle, and if too many people make a poor judgment call on something and it causes problems, a law's written up about it. Hence cell phones and driving. Anyway, people talking on a phone can be more distracted and for longer. One of the major points I heard raised a while back was that, compared to talking to someone in the car with you, someone on the phone can't automatically see when you're in a dangerous situation on the road - bad traffic, sharp turns, clustered intersections, what have you - and won't know to clam up so the driver can focus. Whereas when you're eating, you're in full control of the distraction, so you can set it aside if you're in a tight spot.
That reminds me of FFV's system. When you max out a class, your jack-of-all-trades class gets stat bonuses. I'm for it, but I doubt Squeenix will be that smart. Many of the upgrades and extra features of KH2 and onward are made to look cool, not round out your combat options.

Do they make it a pain in the ass to roll back, or is it just a matter of downloading an old version like it was with MSN? I may just do that as well until I find a better solution. Yeah, that's the trouble. And the real issue is it only supports Skype with an outdated plugin which requires you to have Skype open at the same time, so... not much point. I'm looking into Jitsi right now, might see if I can get anybody else on board with that. It works standalone or through other networks, but no Skype as far as I can tell. And the UI's not very flashy. Less than ideal, but it's nice to have a backup.

So after the carnage subsided, I ran out there while nobody was looking and smuggled the game into my car. I took it home without Sqwow finding out. Couple weeks later I got curious, so I popped it in to see if it would still run. And it did. Worked like a charm, despite ostensibly being burned to Hel on the outside. So let that be a lesson: Nintendo builds their shit to last, don't you EVER test their mettle. ...It occurs to me that I don't know. Typically, when people harm others or keep secrets from them, it's not out of malice or part of some grand overarching evil scheme. It's just a matter of an opportunity presenting itself, a temptation being too sweet to resist. When you look at the fashion industry, that constantly feeds young women these awful messages about body image, it's not because they want girls to feel bad about themselves; it's because, traditionally, that approach sells. They don't care about the reason; they're running a business, and that business needs customers. I believe in a number of things people would call conspiracy theories, but I don't believe they're conspiracies. Like the fact that various corporations are attempting to gain acute control of information flow, especially on the internet; they don't want to create a fascist state or any of that garbage, they're just trying to protect their assets and their reputation. Or the fact that the American school system is designed to leave students dependent, mired in debt, and lacking important skills for adulthood; not because the older generation is trying to keep us down, but because a dependent student can be sold goods and services, like credit, student loans, and the like.
