They sound better when they're not in the game. Like the first one would be great in Disgaea. They're not bad tracks, they're just in the wrong places.
Unless you get a HARD read or your opponent telegraphs their moves absurdly early, it's pretty hard to nail it consistently. That said, it's virtually useless compared to Dark Barrier. The only time I got it, and perhaps the only time it was worth the trouble, was during the fight with Julius. His hitbox during the punch rush is big enough and out long enough that I would mash out the Shadow Slide about 1/2 the time.
I'd say it's quite the contrary. Hollow Bastion in KHI keeps you within the castle for which it is named; KHII is the one that doesn't let you thoroughly explore where you're meant to go. Until it changes its name, that is. If Neverland had been named Captain Hook's Ship, it would indeed be more appropriate, but by the same token I don't see Hollow Bastion as false advertising.
