For the VN side of things, NPC portraits would be pretty cool - but I can't tell you I've thought of any characters who'd specifically be recurring non-combatants, so I'm gonna say nah we don't need it that bad. I think in general it's just. A daunting task none of us are very good at. It's the one hulking obstacle to this being a serious endeavor. If we had a gifted spriter on the boards I might already be talking about this like it's a work in progress, but... yeah, not so much.

Nah. Usually you just pick one from a list. If a character calls another character to help them specifically, and it's part of their moveset, that's called a striker. For example: In MvC, you select two characters to fight and one unique assist. You can call either that assist or your teammate, either of which will perform a move if uninterrupted. But in the same game you have Captain Commando, who's part of a unit that he summons to fight for him with several of his specials; you can't swap them out or change them because they're a part of his fighting style. My character would have a couple of moves like that. Like Skype Call-to-Arms. Yes that's what it's called. #nova you're a terrible person
