I wanna see some articles. Either GameInformer or EpicNameBro heard that they're fixing Blighttown. So we're getting some conflicting reports. Is this from an official interview/announcement? And if so, how recent?

Either way, Blighttown's not that bad to begin with. The portion that lags to hell and back is actually entirely, easily, skippable. I do it on every play-through.

...So, is this kind of like a generic mark of fame for British actors? Being on Dr. Who?

Not to dis the show or the man himself, just seems kind of odd how many of these sorts of announcements I keep hearing.

What he said. You set your own price, give an email and whatnot, and then it gives you a download ticket for Steam, PC, Mac, whatever. You can come back to it any time.

Oh YEAH BBY. I've waited too damn long for this announcement. I don't even get the regular ones anymore, I just wait for the Empires. They're getting so good, especially with the steady improvements to the base capture system. And the ACTUAL CANNIBAL SHIA LABEOUF DIFFICULTY CURVE IN THE LAST ONE? Fuggedaboutit. I'd play that for hours straight and not get bored. If this is half as good, I'm gonna go full hermit when it hits.

Glad to see they're adding more characters, too. I've always been curious how the Jin Dynasty would play, and I recall wondering why Xu Shu wasn't a named hero before.

My parents tried to teach me stuff, and sometimes they succeeded. Mostly if they didn't it's because I was avoiding them, because, well, tense relationships roflol don't need to get into that.

But yeah there are some things I don't know (or didn't know when they would've been prudent). Car trouble, clothes trouble, and so on. I think what least occurs to parents to teach are not the basics, but what to do if something goes wrong. I had to go to a laundromat once while I was away at college, and no matter what I did my clothes would not come out dry. Ended up taking most of them home damp, had to call my grandma and ask for advice. Eventually I had it sorted out and the only real consequence was having to hang up most of my clothes in various places around the room to keep them from getting soggy and musty and sh#&, but yeah. Knowing the damage control steps in advance would've been nice.

Is a class the right answer? I dunno. If you can get people to pay attention. I took college preparedness classes in collegiate high, and they... didn't help that much. (That was my first C, but still.) I suppose there's no harm in having a basic life skills class. Or maybe encouraging communities to get together to hold independent, parent-run crash courses.

All in all, you learn what you need to learn, and you don't learn what you're too scared to ask someone to teach you. Maybe we should start by building a culture where we aren't so terrified to admit to not knowing what to do.

Last YTPMV I made on my old account that wasn't an utter failure:
Incomplete garbage that I don't intend to finish:
    My top 3 favorite poops:

MustangSally72/YTPNews: "What the fuck did you do to china"

Literally everything Imaperson has ever done (most recent video, "MIKE AND BRETT GENT" here)

avojaifnot: "Zira Throws Pride Rock Into A Black Hole And Exiles The Entire Universe"

Yeah I've been a fan since, like... '06 or '07. I started on WalrusGuy and Deepercutt but (thankfully) discovered much better than them with time. My biggest inspirations were SSJ3Raditz/MSTRadock, Imaperson, ******edAnimeParody, ButtonsTheDragon, and FLCLOWNS. I had a whole slew of poops that were awful messes and I ended up deleting them all. Then I made a new batch, but now I hate those too. My style has undergone a small evolution since then, but I've yet to actually finish a project in about a year. I'm debating throwing in the towel, though I might consider digging up my old YouChew account and seeing if that doesn't re-ignite my interest. I'll always watch them, I just don't know if I'm cut out to make them.

When I'm depressed, rather than listen to something depressing and risk catharsis becoming enabler, I usually prefer to get lost in soundscapes. Tracks like Venetian Snares's Szamár Madár or Zechs Marquise's Pattern. Lots of long-winded, dreamy instrumentals that make me forget I'm human for a while. Sometimes I focus on my stories, and the soundtracks I assign to them, in which case I can listen to anything.

Sure, but something about the hate comes off weird to me. Maybe it's because I'm a villain fetishist and I can't understand disliking someone who's so damn good at what he does.

You know I heard a hypothesis that he's blood-bending the council's arms every time he calls for a vote of favor? Hard to explain, but if it's true, sweet tomato soup Tarrlok is one diabolical sonofabitch.

Well that's all I was responding to, so if that wasn't the intent, then no problems here. Either way, after seeing the RE6 trailer I'm honestly crossing my fingers for it. Maybe it doesn't need a rest after all.

But do you understand that it will never be like other actions games unless they forsake the given battle system entirely? It was built from the ground that (I'm assuming) the very first game established; it's always been a little different. Controls were stilted before, and each RE in recent years has gradually loosened them up, but it remains distant from the first-person style that CoD uses and Gears nearly uses. In that system, you're essentially a wildly rotating turret; even recent Resident Evil titles make you acutely aware of the limits of your body, both in turn control and flexibility. The quick-time events during gameplay are short and return control to the player after a dodge or a punch, which is something I've always appreciated; they're a reward for quick reflexes. The cutscene-style versions were almost nonexistent in RE5, so that's essentially a non-issue unless RE6 intends to return them. The over-the-shoulder style allows for a wider range of techniques to be employed without making the player nauseous, the mix of careful shooting and quick, short burst QTEs is engaging, and the only true stumbling block, the blocky movement, is being phased away little by little, though not in such a way as to invoke the spinning turret metaphor above. I don't get what's not to like here. It's not a stupid action game, it's a good one. I could say that about RE5 and while I'm reserving my judgment on RE6, it looks only to improve on what exists. It's not CoD, it's not Gears, and I don't imagine it ever will be, design changes or not.

But that element has been present in many RE titles. That was my point. It's not as if they pulled this out of the blue; there has always been a fast-paced action element to the gameplay. It just shone through in subtler ways.

I'm asking a straight question. How is that jumping to conclusions? What you said sounded like you'd already made up your mind, even with the "huh?" tacked rhetorically on the end.

Having watched all three trailers at this point... You're loopy. I'm not even gonna dance around it. You have to be straight bonkers to even go that route. Gears looks as dull as it's ever been. God of War looks like a cross between Epic Mickey and the latest Prince of Persias, but worse than both. RE6 actually looks like a promising apology for RE5.

And what's this malarkey about betrayal? Has Resident Evil wronged you, Chris? Because I always figured it was going to edge slowly away from its horror roots. The Mercenaries mode was the earliest sign of that. Hell, I'd love it if they made a full-scale console game out of that whole experience, but that probably wouldn't fly. Too arcade-style.

I wasn't in love with it, but are you honestly trying to tell me you'd play Gears over that? The only thing I was getting at is that, out of the franchises that really don't need any more sequels, at least there's more to look forward to from RE6. But nice jumping to conclusions there. If we're talking about God of War I haven't played it, so I can't say as much. But from what I've heard, it's hard to believe they've got any more good ideas left than the RE team has for their part.
