That's just horrible. No child should ever have to go through anything like that. I'm planning on getting a degree in Psychology and I have seen videos on those other cases and the study with the chimps. But I do think that she'll be able to talk, in time. She just needs a lot of help with it. Since she hasn't started puberty yet(that can be confirmed) then she hasn't passed the critical period, which means there is a hope for her to at least be able to learn to speak. It will most likely be broken, but she'll have an understanding for the language and will have some applicable knowledge of it. That mother is just an absolute disgrace. I have no empathy for her not being able to see her daughter. I'm surprised they haven't put her in jail yet, but I guess without recent violations, they can't do anything to her.

I love it. It's got great color flow. I like the use of the negative space on the right. I would localize the scanlines into just that bottom corner bubble. I don't know why, it just seems like it would be more appealing. Because you have just one section of the background with scanlines, the other half blank. Keep the background how it is and only put the scanlines in that bubble and see how that looks.
