Ultimate Marvel has a steep learning curve. It's a touch of death game so if you're not a fan of being killed in one combo then you might wanna step away from it. The execution for most GOOD combos is also quite demanding. Also keep in mind you're VERY late in the game so you are definitely going to get your ass kicked online. This goes the same for Blazblue CSEX and King of Fighters XIII to an extent.

Funny, I just S ranked DMC4 today on HAH mode.
Never bothered perfecting DMC 1 or 2 though and I came pretty damn close to it with 3.

I'm alright with trolling the fanbase, it's the reason why I was so giddy when they intorduced Asami and then made her and Mako fall in love all within the same episode. Absurd but hilarious.

New IP doesn't equal innovation though
There are tons of new IP's in First person shooters but most of them tend to fall under the "bald space marine" or cowadooty clone.
Bayonetta wasn't good because it was new IP. It was good because of the gameplay, it could have been a God of War game or Devil May cry for all I care but if it had the same gameplay I STILL would have been calling it one of the best action games ever.

That's subjective.

Also Devil May Cry 3 remains my favourite action game to this day.
And playing an action game for the story is like playing a fighting game for the story.
For most people who play action games, story does not matter in the slightest when you have ****awesome gameplay. Hence the reason why God Hand remains my favourite video game ever and why people praise Super Mario 64

Why is one sequel to a great game suddenly "NO! NEW IP'S ARE BETTER!"

Because a company known for making great games has recently been rumored to have cancelled a game that they have probably been working very hard on in an attempt to best the previous installment.
Why is this a good thing? It's like you're saying "YAY! ALL THAT WORK FOR NOTHING!"
Also Arc System has yet to release a game better then Guilty Gear Accent Core. Their last original IP was Blazblue Calamity Trigger which came out YEARS ago.
