Naw, they have an "er" sound, but not when it's pronounced wrong. Japanese vowels are like this: A: Ahh E: Eh O: Oh I: Ee U: ooh Since, in "Near" The e and A make a combination of "Ee", they are replaced with an I, and the R is replaced with an A, making it Nia (Nee-yah) Lol, second time I've gotten mistaken for a guy this week!<3 Ahh, but dear, I am bisexual. No, it's Japanese so the R is pronounced more like an L or a D, but at the same time it's silent. Kinda like how Near's Japanese name is Nia, but in the english dub its just Near cause it doesnt need to be changed to fit Japanese characters. They pronounce it as Kia in the english dub, for the most part. There are a couple slip ups though.
