I started writing this back in May. So, feedback appreciated.
Chapter One
Zack Fair set his child back onto one of the pews of the church in Midgar. “She’s beautiful.” He whispered holding Aerith close to him, then his cell rang. “Work?” Aerith enquired. “Yeah, sorry honey but I have to go,” Zack kissed the baby girl’s forehead “Bye Rubie, love you” he whispered as the youngster opened her bright blue eyes. But how was that baby girl, Rubica Gainsborough to know that was the last time her father would kiss her goodbye? Or soon her mother would be dead?
**TEN years later**
I remember it like it was yesterday, that guy came into the orphanage and took him! I can't believe it, they took my best friend. Well I guess its farewell, Tidus.
"Hey girl!" Roxas walked into the room and flopped down onto the sofa.
"Hm. Hey Roxas." I muttered my thoughts on Tidus.
"What's the matter?" the blonde asked, while turning on the TV.
"Nothing, just feels weird y'know? With Tidus gone."
"Aww, hey I heard some great news today!" Roxas had settled on MTV.
"Really?" I asked wondering what this 'news' was. Roxas pulled a pack of cool Doritos out of his pocket, "Yeah, that guy got adopted Raj, Rai, whatever his name was."
I laughed “Good! No more ‘Make way for Seifer y’know’ around here. Yo Roxas, gimme a chip.” I sat down next to him, Roxas passed me the bag and together we munched our way through them. I glanced at Roxas, he was abandoned as a kid and now lives here but nobody seems to want him. As I was thinking this Seifer walked into the room “Oh, look it’s the rejects.” He sneered. I went to get up but Roxas forced me down “Shut up Seifer” he said. Seifer took another look at us then walked out “Roxas!” I whispered angrily “He’s gonna beat you to a pulp!” Roxas shrugged.
“Let him try” he declared. I sat there stunned for a while, before grabbing the remote and changing the channel to Kerrang. “Hey! I was watching that!” Roxas growled pushing me playfully, I pushed him back and within seconds we were having a playful sofa fight. Soon I was on the floor laughing, then Roxas rolled off the sofa, remote in hand and almost landed on top of me. “God, Seifer’s right we are rejects,” Roxas laughed, “But I like it.” I nodded in agreement, I liked it too me and Roxas were always with each other. The orphanage would buy us almost the same clothes even, we were so close. Roxas was like my brother but sometimes I’d have these thoughts which I tried to get rid of, like what would it be like to kiss Roxas? Roxas sat up and interrupted my thoughts “Hey, you okay?” he whispered. I sort of nodded, blinking back tears, I’m such a wimp, I really missed Tidus and he’d only been gone a week. Roxas put his arm around me “Aww c’mon Rubie, cheer up.” I rolled closer to him and spent a few minutes crying onto his shoulder. Then Hayner appeared in the door, “Hey Rox--” he stuttered, taking in the scene before his eyes. It must have looked weird, Roxas holding me like that, but I kinda liked it, in a brotherly love kind of way, not that way. Roxas let go of me and I dried my eyes on his sleeve. Then he turned around “Hey dude. Rubie here was getting all emo over Tidus.” He smiled at his friend.
“Was not!” I almost shouted at Roxas kicking his foot. Roxas looked at me seriously, like he was staring me down. “You were.” He said fiercely before heading out of the door with Hayner.

Chapter 2
The next day I woke up around 1pm, I headed downstairs and saw Roxas kissing some brunette girl. I just walked past them trying to ignore the sense of betrayal; Roxas must have pulled away because he saw me, “Hey! Rubie!” he called over to me. I ignored him, “Rubie, what’s wrong? Hey!” He spun me round to face him, his face was the image of concern “You’re not mad at me are you? From yesterday?” he asked in a hurt voice. I shook my head “Of course not, Roxas, why the hell would you think that?” Poison started to creep into my voice. “Because,” Roxas replied “You weren’t there after I came back with Hayner so I asked where you were and I was told you were in your room crying. And saying ‘Why would he do this?’”
“It’s nothing.” I whispered, flicking my brown hair over my shoulder.
“Doesn’t seem like nothing Rubica. Please, just tell me.” He whined, then he smiled “I’ll beg.” he fell to his knees.
“Rox, there’s no need to beg! I’ll tell you later!”
“But—“
“Later.”
The brunette girl strolled up and took Roxas’ hand as if she were afraid I would steal him.
“Oh yeah,” Roxas said, “This is Olette Valentine.” He indicated the girl. “Olette, this is Rubica Gainsborough.”
“Hey.” Olette chirped “so what are you? Named after this place?”
“Uh, I dunno. Anyway, I’ll… Roxas! What happened to your face?!?”
Roxas touched the dark bruise I had just spotted on the left side of his face, the side he’d turned away from me so far. “Seifer.” He mumbled. I kicked the ground, hatred for Seifer rising in every cell of my body. I strode off before I noticed one of the workers in front of me. I bumped into her “Oh sorry.” I muttered.
“It’s okay Miss Gainsborough, there’s a family here to see you, please don’t try to put them off.” She said anxiously.
“Great, well who is it?” I asked.
“Uhh it’s the Cillo family. The father’s name is Dave, the mother’s Nina and their son’s name is Tim.” She explained, it sounded like a perfect family. I’d just mess it up. As a result the introduction went really awkwardly. But all I could figure was they were looking for a 14-16 year old to join their family. The possibilities ran through my head what if… no; I wouldn’t be able to face that, but what if it happened? What if they took Roxas? I ran downstairs and spotted him on the sofa watching MTV, Olette wasn’t there so I walked in “Hey,” I whispered ready to apologise. Roxas turned sharply, saw me then relaxed “Hey.”
“Roxas, I’m sorry.” I was pleading for his forgiveness. Roxas stared at me like I had a moogle attached to my ear. “What for?” he grunted.
“Well, for being such a pain.”
“When?” Roxas asked curiously.
“This afternoon, I get the feeling I kinda acted coldly to you guys.”
“S’okay.” Roxas shrugged then beckoned me over. I stood in front of him wondering if he was mad or something. Roxas placed my hand over his heart; there was no heartbeat at all. “Roxas…” I could feel tears welling up in my eyes.
“I only found out today that I don’t have a heart, I’m a Nobody. It’s like I’m dead or something, but sometimes I swear I can feel a heart there.” He explained looking away, and then I felt it - a two second heartbeat. “Hey Roxas, you feel that?” I asked to make sure it wasn’t my imagination. Roxas looked up, “Yeah, I felt it. Hey, Rubie,” he grabbed my wrists, “Even if I don’t have a heart, I can still feel right?” I nodded.
“Sure you can, I mean I’m pretty sure you can love someone right?”
“Like I—never mind.”
“Huh? What were you gonna say?”
“Nothing. Anyway what were you crying about last night?”
“Just a stupid dream.”
“That guy again, the silver-haired one?”
“No, another guy. Don’t worry about it.”
Roxas sighed sadly, “But I do worry, especially about you, you’re the only one I can talk to in this place now!”
Oh great, we had arrived at Tidus. I turned away and walked towards the door, somehow it’d all gone wrong. Just a minute ago, we were talking about something that worried us and now, I felt like I was just a spare part just a girl he could talk to because Tidus had gone. Awkwardness hung in the silence between me and Roxas; I walked out of the door and up to my room. It was exactly like my dream, Roxas had flirted and then it’d all gone wrong. Why would he do this?

Chapter 1

Shannen looked out towards the glistening waves of the sea, waiting, wishing. The sound of Good Charlotte drowned out the seagulls who were scavenging left over picnic food. Slowly she stood up, her blonde hair hitting her green eyes. Then she took off the boots she was wearing and walked into the sea.
"Shannen! No!" Her ex boyfriend,Ryan's scream echoed off the pier as he raced down towards her. "Don't do it., please. They'll apologise, they didn't mean to do what they did! They weren't thinking!"
Shannen sighed and looked up at the sky, trying not to curse random game characters. Then she turned and lookedinto Ryan's grey eyes. "Do you always have to spoil my fun or what? I was just gonna--"
Ryan turned his head slightly "Drown yourself yeah."
Shannen looked at the sea again and walked away leaving her boots on the sand and Ryan in the distance.
She checked her texts hoping there would be one from the friend that had hurt her, but there wasn't. No video game nicknames came up on the screen until a few seconds later when her cell buzzed and the screen flashed up 'Roxas'. Shannen gritted her teeth "Roxas, huh?" she looked at what he had to say.
'HEEYY DEWDD!! WNNA GO 2 DA PARK L8ERR?!?! LUV GREG XXX'
So at least Greg still wanted to know her at least, but she still hoped that phone would flash up 'Sorah' but it never.And Shannen had the feeling it never would, ever again.
She reached home and first of all searched her basement bedroom for signs of her brother , luckily for her he wasn't there and she collapsed on her futon in tears.
"Shannen! Door!" she heard her mother call. Shannen ignored the call.
"I know she's there, she just came in" her mother said.
Then there was a knock at the door "Yo! Shannen!" a male voice that definatley wasn't her brothers.
"Who, who is it?" Shannen called, trying to disguise the fact she had been crying.
"It's Greg."
