Neither. In my opinion, SE gave them their motives (trying to be complete by finding a heart) because they are so hard to identify with. I don't think any of us can know what not having a heart feels like. That way we will have less qualms when we beat their arses to pulp. So no. They are not evil nor misunderstood. They aren't understood at all, making judgement rather difficult.
Trinity Limit because it just has that personal touch to it.
