@Catch the Rain: I suppose so, but that's one look that I'd call more mind-capturing than Sasuke's. Especially the first time I saw it. And because Lain's episodes are so sloooooooow, you find yourselves staring in them for half a minute and longer.
Obviously you have never seen Lain's cold brown eyes with their miniscule pupils stare directly into yours, with electrical wires reflected in them that imply that everyone is connected and that individuality will no longer exist before long.
I never had to knock on wood. But I know someone who has, which makes me wonder if I could. That's the impression that I get.
First thing that came to mind: Interesting. The story overview reminds me of Ergo Proxy, and of Final Fantasy XIII, to some extent. Second thing that came to mind: 17 year old protagonist again? Would it really ruin the RPG experience to make him over 20 just once? That's my two cents so far.
