Good point, one rarely decides to "check out" an attractive person. But it's perfectly possible to fall in love with someone that's generally considered unattractive. (S)he might even come across as more attractive to you because you are in love with him/her.

This is true in some ways indeed. But sometimes the opposite is also true.
I easily associate with sloppy dressers with unkempt hair, perhaps even more easily than with a succesful-looking suit. I think it's because I'm unconsciously prejudiced: the more meticulous a person is dressed, the higher I think his/her standards must be. I may of course be paranoid but I know I'm not the only one having this sentiment.
