I don't like the smudge effect.... Needs to blend a little more... Try using paths for stuff, makes a good effect. Try not to put in so much text. Move the render into the middle, or make it a point of intrest, using cluttering like stuff. And.... try to brush a lil more, or make the BG more complex.
It depends on who. If it was one of my friends from the site, it would be kinda weird at first, but that feeling would go away after we talked abit and had some fun. If it was someone I dislike, the It would be weird all around.
Yes it does, the effect is sharpening.... xD That's why it's choppy.

You have to render it using paths....I think... I have not looked into it fully, but there are tuts on how to render.
