OOC: Someone else can take over Xion, and Tifa can go to hell XD Thanks for being understanding about it all. Tifa glared, stretching her arms above her head. "Let me go, Xigbar." She threatened, moving to the balls of her feet, keeping balanced. "I have no qualms with you yet. Just let me go, and this will be that much easier."
Aly jumped, and reached for her arm knives instinctively, before realizing she had forgotten to bring them along. Watching, she curiously tilted her head as Daisuke rushed to help her. It didn't matter that she was Yuka. She wouldn't go near her until all the blood was gone. For all Aly knew, that was some poor human's blood. If it was, Yuka wouldn't have long to stay in this world.
Crossing her arms, Tifa sighed. "So you left me, and expect me to just be fine with it? Not only that, but you berate me for leaving when I see fit. I'm only doing what you did. I'm surviving. And the survival of someone I love is in danger by you being here. So let me do this, and then let me go. I'm done playing games, and always just being ready for whatever you bring home." OC: I sent you a PM water mage, regarding my leave from khv. I guess you didn't get it.
So you're saying the insane are a liability.
Oh no, my one weakness. BLASPHEMY. *sends giant muffins to attack*
Chapter 15 The morning air is crisp and clean. The girl stands outside, inhaling quietly. She smiles, her pointed incisors barely peeking out of her upper lip as her nostrils flare, taking in all the scents. The light breeze stirs her hair, making the ends curl around her face and eyes. She ignores them, staring into the sunrise, as though it is imperitive to her survival. Not even the sound of a man coming up behind her makes her stir, not until he touches her. She starts, then smiles a little, looking back at him. “Good morning.†Her voice is a whisper, almost too low to hear. He nods in reply, his own hair being stirred by the wind. “The funeral is in an hour. I thought you might want to...prepare yourself.†His voice is low as well, and rough from grief. The girl's eyes lower, and she fights to hold back tears. Mastering that urge, she looks back up. “I shall not wear anything special. Just the dress he gave me. He would want that.†Overcome, she turns her head away, letting her eyes shut as tears tried to fight their way out. The man lays a hand on her shoulder, squeezing gently. “It wasn't your fault. No one expected what would happen.†“It's my fault, because I caused it to happen.†Though tears fight to escape, her quiet voice doesn't change. The man sighs, then gently tilts her head up, looking at the long scar that wraps around her throat. “An accident.†He gently murmurs, making that the final word on the matter. Gently touching the scar, he touches his lips to it, gentler then a butterfly's wings. Shivering, the girl stands still, her eyes closed. When the man stops, she smiles, then takes his hand. “Let's go. He wouldn't mind if I was late to the ceremony, since he is....was so often late himself.†Her voice almost catches, almost. The man regards her with level eyes, then pushes his hair back with the other hand. “Alright then. But don't push yourself too hard, Yuki.†She smiles, her light brown eyes still full of sorrow. “When would I ever do that? He died because of my selfishness. It was cruel of me, to involve him. He loved me, and I....†she stops. “I'm going to go. He deserved more then what I gave him.†Gently tugging on the hand she still holds, Yuki pulled him gently toward the front entrance to the school. It is a somber sight. No students have returned, not yet. There is one more day of the vacation, but that seems so far away. The inside is empty of both vampires and humans. The vampires left after the battle. Her hand tightens involunarily, and she inhales to calm herself. Control is everything, no matter what she might remember. Memories cannot be changed. The man doesn't say a word, just watches. Her silent guardian...he was always there. She manages to smile, then walks on, down to her room. “I still can't believe he's gone, that they're all gone.†she murmurs. “Do you think peace between vampires and humans is still possible?†Gently brushing her hair back, watching the scar on her neck move with her every breath, the man sighs. “After what happened....anything is possible.†Yuki rubs her head, then smiles again. “I suppose it is. I don't need to worry about hurting you anymore.†She smiles again, then turns and hugs him. In another swift movement, she closes the door to her room. “You can't come in when I'm changing. I'll be out in a bit.†The man is left to ponder. He rubs his neck, the tattoo/scar left there by the event that was his beginning, a half beginning of what had occurred. Now that Yuki was herself again, there was a danger to her safety, from him. He would never hurt her, but....no. They were gone. There wouldn't be any danger again. ----------------------------- Sorry for the long ass wait, but stuff has just been happening so quickly lately. I'll try to get the next part of the chapter in this week.
Damn Mexicans [Everytime I come here, I want to line up a list of about twenty of you, and assassinate you each differently. Maybe ten. You know what? I'll settle for five. Assassin's Creed II ftw/] They serve way too much chicken.

Being insane isn't so bad.
Without the light, there are no shadows. The sun peeks over the horizon, hesitantly, as if not sure he should bathe the land in his glow. I silently plead with him, begging for him to rise faster. That means my watch is over, and I can finally go to bed. Coda and Thom went somewhere, leaving his sister and Tainya alone, with me. I guess he can't take her, where's she's going, and that he can't trust us to stay put, leaving Jeorge with us. Not that Jeorge wanted to go. I suspect he volunteered, just to stay and talk with Tainya. I'm not blind, nor is she. She's asleep now, one arm over her eyes. Makes it easier to reach the knife hidden under her pillow. Jeorge is across from her, leaning against a tree, his hat tipped over his eyes. The girl is curled up not far from Tainya, clutching her doll tightly. I realize I don't know her name, and sigh. Since when did I care about names? Standing up and stretching, the sun comes over the east hills, warming my face. I smile, close my eyes and soak up what I can. In these lowlands, the sun is rare to find, blocked by the often dark rain clouds, or the hills. Very green here, different from the desert like place I've been used to. There are lakes more often, and the ground is mushy. The horses have more trouble, but they get to graze more often. I smile, watching our horses “socialize”. Nerita and Star aren't tied, but the stolen horses were. Now only Jeorge's remains. Hearing hoof beats, I reach instinctively for my sword, before relaxing, but only slightly. “Stop at a brothel on your way home?” I remark as Coda and Thom ride in, slightly silly smiles on their faces. Thom laughs, then dismounts, sweeping me a bow. “Nothing but your attentions will satisfy me.” He declares, his voice no more then a whisper. “I refuse to pay tribute to any other then your glorious beauty.” Flapping a hand at him, I scan the saddle bags with my eyes. They are full, almost bulging, and there are other bags that weren't there before. Raising my eyebrows at Coda, I turn my back on him and go to a nearby river, splashing water on my face. This awakens me some, and I turn, using my gift to view their bags. “You planning on going a ways?” I ask. “That's a lot of food and clothing.” Coda checks on his sister, then turns to look at me. “You just happen to know what we bought?” he asks, his eyes critical. I smile, shrug, and turn to my bedroll. “Your headache. I'm turning in.” I leave no room for argument, and roll over, concealing two knives at my sides and the sword by the blankets. Another knife goes under my pillow. “Good. Night.” “Actually it's morning.” Jeorge corrects me, sitting up with a yawn. I ignore him and close my eyes, letting sleep wash over me. * * * * * * * * Tainya sat up with a yawn, opening her eyes. A face, blurred, staring into hers. “Good morning.” Jeorge said cheerfully, ignoring her attempts to beat him back. He kissed her cheek then sprang up, offering his hand. “How did your night treat you?” She gave him a wry smile, taking his hand, but letting go as soon as she was up. “The same as yours. Lumpy.” Looking around, she noticed Coda and Thom were back. “Long trip, hm.” she murmured, planning entirely for Jeorge to hear her. He stepped closer, deliberately trying to flirt. “Yes indeed. There is a village somewhere in these wetlands, where we are welcome.” He smiled. “The wine houses are particularly recommended.” She rolled her eyes at him. “Why tell me? It's not to your advantage.” She turned, going to the river and splashing her face with the cold water, not knowing that Kila had done the same. Jeorge watched her with a smirk. “One, you're coming with, and two, you couldn't' find it if you didn't know where it was.” She sighed, then looked over her shoulder, her hair dripping. “Tell that to Kila. I follow her.” Turning back around, she dipped a hand in. The water went up to her elbow, making her entire arm go numb. “It's the smartest thing to do.” Jeorge was beside her, twirling his fingers in the water, making small tails of water follow him. “Besides. She can't stand up to Coda.” Both glanced back, then smirked at each other. Tainya recognized a kindred spirit, a trickster and fun lover in him. “Two copper pieces that Coda loses to Kila.” Tainya whispered, holding out her dry hand to Jeorge. He grinned and stacked his on top of hers, then tapped hers with his other dripping hand. She did the same. “You're on.”
OC: I've left the site, but I'll check back once a week or so to update the stories, so I'll post here too. BIC: Aly grimaced. "That's Yuka. Not me." She thought for a bit, tilting her head to the side. "But wouldn't they have found out what a mistake it was to have a child? After going through the process of having one." she sighed, then smiled. "That's my thought anyway.." Walking around the office, she finally plopped herself down on the floor, and looked up at him. "And so here we are."
Chapter 14 Gently stepping through the snow, I watch as the stars shine over head. Everything is so peaceful and quiet, and yet.....a shot screams through the night, to hit the tree next to me. Kaname, newly appeared, glares at Zero, behind me. I turn, and for once, fear moves through me. I'm between them, always between them. Kaname steps forward, and Zero aims his gun around me, his eyes cold. Closing my eyes, I clench my hands. “Did it always have to come to this?” I whisper, feeling the snow gently breathe frozen kisses on my hands, my shoulders, my head. There's a rustle, and Seiren appears opposite me, her eyes fixed on me. Her fingers twitch, and I move my hand towards my leg. Someone hisses, I don't know who. All I know is that I felt a brush of air, and Zero was in front of me, blocking Kaname. Seiren moved then, towards Zero. I didn't even realize I moved until I had Artemis up in front of Seiren, the electricity crackling along it. Waves of power make me shiver, and I realize I'm not the only one using my gift. Pushing the bladed stick forward, Seiren and I move away from Kaname. She breaks away and circles, her eyes on mine. I wait, sitting on the balls of my feet, the dress rustling around me. I want to look at Zero, want to make sure he's not the one who's hissing in pain. Seiren leaps at me, and I block her hands, sending more power through them, burning her. Her skin crackles like glass, making her whimper. Backing up, she eyes me, then moves again. I block to the right, realizing too late that she feinted, then feel the breath whoosh out of me, as her strike hits home at my chest. Falling back, I sit there, gasping. Seiren stands over me, then grabs the Artemis stick I must have dropped, ready to strike the final blow. Something sends her flying, and stands over me, panting. “Yuki, your skills disappoint me.” Kaien Cross helps me up, smiling as he hugs me. “I wanted to see my foster daughter fight better then that.” I smile back, hiding sudden tears as his smell envelops me. “You shouldn't have come.” I whisper, backing away and brushing my tears. “Give me a moment. I need to fix this dress.” He grins, then whips around, his hand grabbing Seiren's wrist and tossing her over his hip. She hooked her leg under his as she flew, sending them both tumbling. I quickly duck behind the fountain, and rip the skirt off. I quickly rip the tight fitting underskirt, and tie two knots on each side. This should hold, for now. The top of the fountain cracks, and the head of a woman comes crashing down to rest inches from my hand. Looking up, Zero has Kaname pinned against the fountain, and is trying to level the shot at his head. Kaname pushes him away, and they tackle each other, rolling away. I run after them, only to be stopped by Hanabusa. His eyes grim, he flicks his fingers, and I duck as ice shoots toward me. “Please!” I try not to beg. “No one need die here!” The thought of any of them dying brings an ache to my heart, even if they are my enemies. The ache is gone as my vampire self takes over. They deserve to die, they are your enemies. They want you caged. I blink through the sudden headache, then roll to the side as more ice shoots at me. “It has to be this way.” He murmurs, almost tonelessly, then runs at me, ice slivers following him in the dozens. * * * * * * Rima looked over at Shiki, driving the car. Looking back, she smiled as Ruka rested her head on Akatsuki's shoulder, her eyes closed. Rima looked back at Shiki, then put her hand on the armrest between them. Without looking down, Shiki took her hand and squeezed it, his other on the wheel. She smiled, looking back out the window. “We're out of it.” She murmured, still facing the window. Shiki tightened his grip on her hand. “Out of it forever.” He promised, pressing the pedal down. The car revved forward, into the future. Ruka would have to have her baby, and Akatsuki could play father. In time, they would have to tell the baby the truth, but that was a long way away. Rima and Shiki would have children of their own as well, outside the influence of the vampire world. They could grow up to learn to have compassion for humans, to hide from them, and to help shape the world. It will be alright. * * * * * * * I hide behind a tree, gasping. My staff lies in the clutches of Seiren, who is wielding it against Kaien, just as he uses his own skills against her. Kaname and Zero are locked in struggle, unable to see the outside influences as they battle closer to me. Hanabusa is coming closer as well, his eyes looking for me, the little ice shards floating in the air around him. Turning, I press my back against the tree, trying to catch my breath. Kaien's appears by the tree next to me, hiding from Seiren to catch his breath as well. “Yuki..” he begins, but doesn't finish. Something hisses through the air, and I have enough time to turn, seeing Hanabusa behind me. As I take a step back, the ice shards around him shoot toward me, and I realize I have no time or room to dodge this time. Is this the end? ___________________ Sara is mentioned in book 3-6, one of those. She attends the same ball as Kaname, with both Yuki looking on from the balcony above, and Zero below, attending the party.
Glad I was myself, for however short a time <3 Good work.
Nothing that is lost can ever be found, at least, until you stop looking. The sun burns, but this is nothing new. It is not even enough to burn the grass that has grown, or dry up the river that runs near our house. A clean, quiet area. Chickens clucking, suddenly mixed with screams, and red. So much red. I wake, my hands covering my mouth so I don't scream. I can't hear anything, except the thudding of my heart beat, pounding my ears. Slowly, I calm, and my heart follows my lead. Another dream....but I do not remember this memory. It is possible that it could have been when I was initiated. When the initiate is ready, the masters lull the assassin-to-be into a false sleep, triggering them to see in black and white, to cut them off from what they are doing, where they are. No one remembers their initiating, what they do to become an assassin. Some of us are left with dream like memories of what occurred. The luckier ones don't remember a thing, consciously or not. Tainya is sitting next to me, drinking from a gourd. Judging by the way her face is set, it isn't water. She hates any kind of alcohol. Smiling slightly, I take it from her, then dump the contents on the ground. She shudders, then smiles, lying back. “Welcome back to the world of the living.†“I could say the same to you.†I murmur, eying the bandages wrapping around her waist. She rolls her eyes, then grins, chucking a pot at me. I duck, laughing silently when it breaks against the wall. Since it's not our property, we can do what we like. That thought brings me back, and I begin to circle the tiny room. The wall is climbable, with several handhold in the adobe sides, but the ceiling is fenced off with some kind of barbed wire. I can see from several stains on the walls and floor that some people have not been intelligent enough to escape falling onto it. Thieves probably. Gently touching it, the spikes prick the skin of my fingertips, barely breaking it. Sharp, too. There's a rope that coils around some kind of latch, but I can't reach it without losing a hand. That'll be for tomorrow. It's already turning night in the city, the sun setting over the side of the wall. We're in the west part of the city then. The room slowly goes black, and I creep close to Tainya. Our eyes adjust to the dark, slowly. The room is furnished with some carpets, mostly thatched rugs. I can hear my breathing, and Tainya's as we wait. Slowly the latch clicks, and I can see three forms. Three? I grin, and Tainya grabs my wrist, holding tightly. I tense, wanting to break free, anticipating what has to be done, but I don't just yet. The three men lower a ladder, then creep down slowly, carefully. One helps a smaller form. The little girl. I can almost see her eyes glinting at me. Then fire light flares, and I shut my eyes quickly. Someone's hand attempts to break Tainya away from me, but I twist my hips, kicking behind. There's a yelp, and I open my eyes, keeping them narrowed. One man lies on the floor, holding his stomach and retching, while the two others try not to laugh. The girl does nothing, her small pointed face shadowed in the flickering light. One speaks to the other in a foreign, harsh language, and laughs. The other grins, then makes a move toward me. Tainya keeps a grip on my arm, then backs us into a corner. “They'll take us down.†she whispers in Latin, her dark eyes on the girl, of all things. “We can't stand against them.†I want to ask what she means, but I don't get the chance. Both men jump at me, and I grab one's arm, twisting it while ducking underneath to come out on his other side, still bending the arm. Letting him go, he falls into the other man, and I automatically reach for a knife, only to find I have none. *******s disarmed me. There's a whooshing noise behind me, and I instinctively turn, which may have saved my life. A pot smashes grazes against the side of my head, making me see stars. I blink, gasping, stumbling back. The only one open was the little girl, but that was a heavy pot. Looking back, Tainya's eyes are wide. She makes a move toward me, but stops, her eyes on the girl behind me. I turn again, just in time to duck something sharp flying past me. The girl's eyes are on me, bright green. They almost seem to glow with some internal power, and a rug unhinges itself from the wall behind her to come toward me. I dive at her, focusing on her eyes. Hands grab me and pull me down, a foot in my back holds me there while other hands tie my feet and hands together. I snarl curses, and the man holding me down with his foot laughs. He says something else to the men in that strange language. I look back up at the girl, spitting dirt out of my mouth. She only watches, not saying a word, those intense green eyes just staring. It's like she can see into my soul, and a sudden lump appears in my throat. I look away as I'm lifted up, ignoring her. Tainya is tied the same way, but a little more gently, her arms not pulled as far back. I spit more dirt out, then glare at the men. The main one, who I've realized is...was... my target, only smiles calmly. “I am Coda. That is Thom and Jeorge.†The two men bow, mocking smiles on their faces. I only grimace, then wrench away from Coda's grip, standing by Tainya. “Lovely that we're all acquainted, but I would like to go.†I smile, though not nicely. Coda shakes his head, still smiling amiably. “You can't go back. Tainya has a warrant out for her arrest, and you have been seen by your target. You have no where to go. So you have two options.†“Only two?†I ask. “I see many options.†A bigger smile glimmers on his lips for a second, then is gone. “Option one, you can try to kill me, and my sister, and you and your friend die. Option two, you can come with us, and help us.†Tainya made an odd noise, and I look at her. She speaks to me with her eyes, something only she and I have been able to do. “Option two. For now.†I answer, looking back at Coda. “But if you try anything with either of us, I'll make it so you can't try anything like that ever again, with anyone.†One of the men, I think Thom, muffles a laugh. Coda nods, then unties Tainya and my feet, and goes up the ladder. His sister follows him, then Jeorge. I look over at Thom as Tainya goes up next. “Aren't you afraid I'll kill you?†I ask, curious. He grins, then shakes his head. “I'm not worth your time, Nigra Cati.†* * * * * * The city by night is beautiful. The stars are bright, against the small fires on the ground that the soldiers make to keep themselves warm. We steal across the rooftops, silent as cats ourselves, thought no cat would be insane enough to try going over the city wall at night. It's easier then it sounds, involving several boosts by too helpful male hands, grabbing nearly invisible wall holds, and praying that no stones break lose to alert the guards. Finally out into the country, I whistle twice in the air, then wait, then whistle twice more. Coda stops to watch me, as well as Jeorge and Thom. Out of the blackness comes Star and Nerita. Thom whistles low, while Jeorge prays in his strange language. Tainya shrugs at me, then goes to pet Nerita, whispering to her in Latin. I do the same to Star, giving her a rub just below her eyes. She neighs quietly, then nudges me. Coda comes up silently behind me, but not silently enough. “She won't like you.†I warn. And indeed, Star tries to snap at him with her teeth. I let her try then gently tell her no, stroking her. “You ever considered that you have magic?†he whispers, watching me. Tainya mounts up, Nerita watching Thom's and Jeorge's mounts out of the corner of her eyes. I just snort and shake my head. “Magic is only in stories. I don't believe in magic.†Pulling myself up onto the saddle, I look down at him. “I believe in what I see.†He shakes his head, and goes to his sister, who is already handling a large black stallion with ease. Rolling my eyes at the madness that will soon ensue with this beast, I gently command Star to move forward. Tainya follows me, and we all six move into the night. Two assassins and four fugitives. Oh the future is bright.
* * * * * Rima scanned the ballroom, a look of boredom on her face. The normal retinue of vampires had turned out, all in their evening best, but there was a tense charge to the evening. Even so, they all tried to act as if this happened all the time, though none fooled the other. She sighed, taking a small sip from the champagne glass, then turning her head to look at Ruka. The other girl looked semi pale, and was sitting down, but she was otherwise normal. Seiren was nowhere to be seen, having to attend to Kaname. Yuki was nowhere as well, but Rima knew the girl was close. She would have to be, because Zero was attending as well, looking tense. His face was blank, but Kiryu had as much on his mind as anyone. She shook her head, then almost jumped. “You look wonderful this evening.” Her father had come up silently behind her, carrying a glass of the blood colored liquid. Rima managed to smile up at him. “As do you, Papa.” Her father always looked good, especially in the tuxedo that was tailored just to fit his form. Rima herself was dressed in a black dress, with a gray underskirt. The dress itself had red birds embroidered on it. He bowed to her, then clinked his glass with hers. “My daughter, your grandmother has had word you are spending much time with Shiki's family.” Rima kept her eyes averted. “She wishes for you to marry otherwise.” It didn't come as a shock, but it still hurt to think of no future with Shiki. Rima implored her father with her eyes, and he smiled. “I just want you to be happy. However....that might best be done outside of this family's influence.” Taking her hand, he kissed her fingers. “You have three days left at the school. Use them wisely, Rima.” After he left, she was alone again. Drifting into a corner, she gazed across the ball floor, where couples danced with each other. A soft breeze indicated that Shiki was behind her. Her fingers twined around his, and she smiled back at him, though her lips trembled slightly. “Three days.” she murmured, looking back at the floor. His fingers tightened their grip, but he said nothing. “Three days.” * * * * * * * * * Kaname entered the room, Seiren at his side. Her scent was so familiar, it was like he couldn't breathe without it. A strange thought, and one he put away for later use. The ballroom talk quieted, and the guests all bowed. Except for one. Kiryu met his eyes over the crowd, the challenge clear in them. Then he slowly made his way along the sidelines, disappearing into the shadows. “My guests, you honor me with your presence here.” It was amazing, how much turmoil he could feel inside, yet his voice remained calm and steady. “I have come here for a reason, though. You have all heard rumors of a vampire, one who is also a Kuran, raised secretly.” Not a whisper perforated the ballroom's silence, and not one eye met his. He cast one more glance over all of them, then silently inhaled. A small hand touched his back lightly, then pulled away. He smiled. Seiren would stick with him. “My honored guests, the rumors are true.” This time a quiet gasp moved the crowd. “I present to you, my sister, Yuki Kuran.” On cue, Yuki entered the ballroom, her incredible eyes alight, a small smile on her red colored lips. Zero walked beside her, his eyes on the crowd. Even her presence changed the guests. They all inhaled instinctively, drinking in her scent. He himself couldn't stop himself from doing it. She didn't speak, only watched, her red brown eyes gazing upon each one. They bowed, or curtsied to her, as was her station. “Thank you.” She murmured, but even her murmur filled the room. “I look forward to becoming a full member of your society.” No one said a word, probably because no one knew what to say. Yuki descended the steps, then began to move among the crowd, Zero at her side. She smiled to one person, complimented another, and soon she was surrounded by all the eligible families, and their sons. Kaname was likewise ensconced, as soon as he followed her, by all the daughters. Somehow, she managed to slip away. He meant to follow her, but a light hand touched his shoulder, followed by a lily-of-the valley scent. “Sara-sama.” He smiled as he turned to her, gently kissing her fingers. “Kaname-sama. You have brought a surprise with you this time.” She nodded in the direction Yuki had gone. “It was clear to me, if no one else, that she is not interested in marriage.” Kaname could only shake his head and smile, then lead Sara into a dance, twirling her around. “I'm surprised you attended.” She tilted her head. “I wanted to get a chance to see you. And the new Kuran.” She lowered her voice. “Kaname, I don't care what reason you have, but do not chase that girl. She means trouble for us all.” Startled, Kaname looked down at her, her light blue eyes watching him. She smiled slightly. “I saw the way you looked at her.” Changing the subject, she gently twirled again, then rested her hand on his chest. “We are in a cage, we pure bloods. A pretty, gilded cage, but a cage.” She sighed, lowering her eyes to their feet, watching them move. “Kaname, there are two ways for us to gain freedom. To kill ourselves, and go to whatever end we have, or to break free, and hopefully stay that way. Like Shizuka-sama.” she looked back up, then curtsied as the music ended. “I hope you find your way.” She murmured, then kissed his cheek. Kaname could only watch as she slipped away, back to the glittering world where they had been born into. Something was off....and then Seiren was pulling him away into a secluded corner. She reached up on her toes to whisper something in his ear, something that made his eyes widen, and then he left with her, out to the balcony, over the fence, and off into the night.
XD I've been premium for at least five months, but you're sweet. Thanks.
I always knew you were an angel in disguise ;3
