Saving up for a Gaming PC doesn't take long, just literally save every penny you get, do jobs for people, neighbours etc. Sell your stuff at a garage sale. It's not even been one month since I started saving and I already have 350.

Well the only other thing I can think of is if he has speedhacks on. They mess up a lot of graphics includng the health bar.
Try using a clean version of the game instead of english patched, I've read that some patches cause problems with pcsx2.

There's plenty of sites out there that offer free premium MC accounts. Find one that works, change the password on it then download the minecraft launcher from minecraft.net. I bought it and I was so pissed when all my friends got it for free.
