Is there a digital subscription for their stuff like how Marvel has Unlimited?
Good way to look at it. I see Deadpool like this: it's not exactly a strong film, but it's super fun and doesn't annoy me in ways that the Snyder-DC films have so far.
Eh, it basically felt like the same character to me, but it's cool if you saw it otherwise. I just didn't like this Lex. I do want to restate: there were some really good parts of the film, but I'd be lying if I called it a good film. It's just average to me. Too much went wrong or happened for no good reason (I bring up Lois throwing the deus ex machina in water as one of the many examples)
He mocked Lois Lane for calling him a psychopath, and the Jolly Rancher scene was all about him being superior to that one government guy. There are probably a few more but those were the most memorable deliveries he had that I can remember. I understood the whole Prometheus thing and it was....ok to me. Kinda heavy-handed (like basically the entirety of the film) but whatevs that scene wasn't a big offender. It definitely is very intriguing to me too how people can feel so vastly different.
I really, really tried to like the movie and, with that, I tried to appreciate their version of Lex, but he just felt weak. His Jolly Rancher scene was great, but I can't help but feel he lacked much presence outside of that. Like his scheme with Martha was great, but he himself just wasn't fun to watch to me, and to be real, I couldn't tell what he was saying in a quarter of his lines, especially at the end of the film. Apparently it was a signal for Darkseid's coming??? I heard absolute gibberish. Riddler's being mentioned a lot because Eisenberg's portrayal of Lex really fit (what I know from the cartoons and Arkham games as) Riddler's signature characteristic: mocking people for being inferior (in intellect usually) to him. Not that that's entirely unique especially when it comes to DC villains but it doesn't feel like the right antagonist for Superman in my opinion.
Did you like their Lex? My opinion is that he's a serviceable villain but might as well be called something else entirely. It didn't feel like a variation of Lex, if that makes sense.
To be fair, none of the villain teams have been interesting since Gen IV, with Galactic and Flare being equally forgettable, and Plasma only being interesting until being revealed as complete hypocrites. I do think character customization will return for sure, and I echo your wish for a non-circular region. Also, I'm very happy that XY added Super Training, but I hope they make Reset Bags a LOT more common. Better yet, let us buy the bags we want. And bring back rematches with Gym Leaders too.
I love how me criticizing Heavy Rain and BEYOND: Two Souls resulted in someone calling me a Call of Duty fan... Those don't bother me (well the TV show does but for different reasons) I'm talking about this: Aquaman and Batman looking buffer than Superman My main issues were with Aquaman: And Captain Atom: Their heads are tiny compared to their mountain-esque chests. I'm not against being creative but these designs rubbed me the wrong way
Just watched Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. DC at least does animated films really well. Enjoyable story and some great animations, though I was weirded out by how overly muscular some character designs were.
No. From what I watched of the Justice League cartoon, Lex Luthor was basically the pinnacle of a human without mutation or implants of any sort: charismatic, muscular, extremely smart, which made his beef with Superman interesting because Supes is only objectively superior because he's a Kryptonian. This movie's Lex was a poor man's Joker from The Dark Knight and was almost the opposite of what people expect from Lex. Someone brought up a good point on another forum: he would have been the perfect Riddler. I thought the voice modulation was actually smart. Made sense to use actual technology instead of fucking up your throat to mask your voice. I thought this toooooooo BTW was Mercy (Lex's black-haired female buddy) freaking hot or was that just me??
Oh, I definitely agree with that. An issue with looking at opinions on the internet is how so often so many people, either unintentionally or knowingly, amplify what they say about things like comic book adaptations to garner more response. Hyperbole is more easily visible after all. As for me, regardless of the quality of those things, I'm glad that they can generate discussions beyond "It's bad" or "It's good."
The thing is, I still can recommend it without much trouble. The good parts are worth the bad. Maybe wait for the rental availability if you feel the ticket price is a bit too steep. Suicide Squad has been so weird to hear news about because I love Jared Leto as a musician but to hear he's doing so many weird things is off-putting. I think it's just the more in-depth comic book fans' cynicism getting to you with the first part. I've basically loved every Marvel Studios film that isn't a Thor movie (they keep giving him stories that don't interest me) or "Iron Man 2" (the film-length commercial for the Avengers.) "Winter Soldier," what I think is their best movie so far, is such a stellar action film because it shows an understanding of the character and balances solemnity with fun. Not to mention I've adored the "Daredevil" Netflix series. And on the DC side, I loved "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight," but it feels like the studios have been trying to continue emulating those films' success without putting in decent narratives (that or we get "Green Lantern"....) Part of why I'm anticipating "Suicide Squad" is because it's not another grimdark film about comic book characters: it looks kinda silly, yet it looks like they might be giving it some good substance too. Hell, my friend who reads comics all the time has been enjoying both camps' productions for the most part. All in all, I think you'll find very enjoyable bits of BvS.
I can't comment since I found both of those near unwatchable.
Bats v Supes is average, surprising no one. So many stupid decisions, with a few really good scenes.
Down Like Silver - Wolves
Dark Souls III so many times over. It looks to be the best combination of what people love from Dark Souls I and II with what I love about Bloodborne.
I've seen a few reports saying the polls were rigged or otherwise handled extremely poorly, at least in my state; we only had ~60 polling positions open when the previous election had over double.
Arizona was won by Trump and Clinton. I hate this state a bit more.
I watched a bit of Armada and I think I remember seeing Starscream get pushed super hard?
Reminds me of the first Bay movie calling the tank guy "Devastator" (actual name is Brawl) like what the shit that's not a Combiner.
