So yeah, the Japanese versions of the KH games always have the configuration to fit the Japanese way of playing (O as Confirm and X as Cancel). The overseas versions changed it so it would fit the American way of play (X as Confirm and O as Cancel) and therefore the functions of the Attack and Jump buttons were reversed as well. Which configuration is better in your opinion? I suppose a lot of people are gonna say the American because that's the configuration they're used to or such (if they haven't played Final Mix, of course). But, is it really that better? In my opinion the Japanese config will always be better, because it's the ORIGINAL, the one the creators of the game intended it to be. I think it's ridiculous that they always have to mess this up, it really is quite unnecessary and stupid. Why can't they do like in the Xenosaga games and keep it intact? It would save a lot of modding to do as well (such as the O/X button images in the Atlantica songs, for example). Not only that, but also because it's easier to use. In KH1 Atlantica, it makes it easy to figure out which buttons makes you ascend or descend. Square is above X, so of course Square ascends and X descends. In the US version, you had to guess which button does what and keep trying until you get it right. Then, in KH2, you had to press Attack button and Triangle at the same time to do the Limits at full power and also to dodge Twilight Xemnas's final attack. It's a breeze to do it with the original config, since O and Triangle are very close to each other, but X is hard to use with Triangle. Any thoughts? Discuss.
http://transgen.awardspace.com/ TransGen is a translation group whose job is to translate japanese games that won't be seeing an international release. They released a partial patch for Re:CoM and hopefully it might be possible that they would someday translate the game completely as well as the other two Final Mix games, so you see, we may still be able to play the whole Final Mix series in english.
