Figured I'd visit again to share this.

After five years and getting through a lot of rough times together, Fayt and I are engaged. He asked me last week while he was visiting, right by the Intrepid museum in New York. He's been working on getting a visa to move here and I guess this is the next step? Very weird thing to get used to.

I posted a thread a few weeks back, but that was several days before Fayt (if any of y'all remember him) came over to stay with me and we were quite busy. Now I guess I'm actually coming back since he's leaving in a few hours, plus I haven't been around here in a long time.
For those that aren't sure who I am, I went by DPWolf for a long time but more commonly known as Wolfie. I feel bad for totally disappearing (especially to staff), but personal problems got in the way and I withdrew from a lot of things. But now I'm making significant progress in fighting my depression and I think it's about time I came back here.

I'm hoping to be more active now, so see y'all around.

Stuff I've been working on/completed in the past few months.
Legend of Korra - Book II Korra & Naga
My camera was kind of messed up for this shoot, but overall I got a few good shots. Full sets here and here.

    Star Wars - Mandalorian
Continued use of my originally approved costume, currently working on a second kit based on a Star Wars animal.

And a WIP of my second kit, which I'm doing entirely on my own (cutting, shaping, etc.).

    Mass Effect - Avenger rifle
Made of foam and the first time I tried something like this, but I like how it came out. Might do more in the future.

& me screwing around with it in my Recon Corps jacket.

Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin - 3DM Gear, Sasha Braus
Two of my friends and I decided to go as Eren, Mikasa, and Sasha to Otakon. They did the belts and wigs while I did the gear. I'm never ever ever doing that again. Ever. Took two weeks of working on it after work, plus one 12-hour session where we were all working on the holsters and didn't sleep at all. Absolutely worth it though.

Gonna be working on Fayt's Mandalorian armor when he's here on Friday, so I'll probably be updating with that too.

Once again KHV returns with our annual Secret Santa event!

    Rules:
-Digital presents only! This means nothing of monetary value, such as online giftcards and the like.
-Keep it appropriate for KHV, if you need some help with that either look at the rules or message me.
-Signups will go from today until Sunday, November 25th, unless few people sign up in which case the deadline will be on Friday, November 30th.
-If you sign up, you can’t back out once everyone is paired up (extreme cases permitting).

-Gifts will be given on Christmas Day, but let me know in advance if you know you’re going somewhere so I can let your Secret Santa know when the best time to exchange gifts would be.
-In order to participate, you need to be an active member for at least a month, OR have 30-50 posts INCLUDING posts in areas without post count. This is just to make sure that you are an active member and won’t disappear on your Secret Santa.
    -Have fun!

For the next three weeks or so there will be sign ups to participate. Anyone who wants to sign up will post this info:

Name: this is the name you go by most often, can be a nickname or your username
Favourites: List 2-5+ things you like, something that if the person who gets you doesn't know you that well will give them a bit of inspiration – the more detailed the better. So if you like a certain show, you can also say who your favorite character(s) are.

If, even with all this information, you find yourself needing more help with what your Secret Santa likes PM me and I’ll ask them for you.
After signups, I will randomly select who is giving to who and send you all PMs. Gift giving will happen Christmas Day (or near it, if you’re going to be away).

And remember, you don’t need to be amazingly talented to participate – this is open to any active KHV member, and it’s the thought behind this that counts! Have fun with it!

So what are the presents? Anything that you can make online and send to the person.

Examples include but are not limited to: Artwork, AMVs, Signatures/Avatars, Writing (Poems, Stories), Pictures...that kind of thing. You can make one big present, or do a bunch of small ones. But please, don't wait till the last minute and throw one little avatar together. You're expected to both give and receive, so make something you would be happy to receive in turn. Once signups are done I'll make a gift-giving thread where everyone posts what they made and for who.

Feel free to post general comments here, but for signups go here:http://www.kh-vids.net/threads/khv-secret-santa-signup-thread.134709/

And if you have any questions, please PM me!

since I haven't posted here in approximately 235805396845 years (rough estimation)

I've been experimenting a lot? My style is fickle as hell and changes from day to day and it's really annoying but OH WELL variance can be good
    maybe

all of this is done in Photoshop with a tablet
so first I stopped using defining lines

    Big Boss, MGS3
    [IMG]

    Roc, Nier
    [IMG]

Halloween Mieu, Tales of the Abyss
    [IMG]

    Halloween Emil, Nier
    [IMG]

    cherry tree or something idk
    [IMG]

Solid Snake in Nathan Drake's clothing (Halloween art trade), MGS (the lines came back a little bit?)

Kotetsu in Mandalorian armor (Halloween art trade), TIger & Bunny (HI LINES + image of Barnaby thrown into Illustrator because it's supposed to be a cardboard cutout)

Kaine and Emil, Nier (very very quick sketch done on request, will finish one day)

Raquor'daan, Star Wars (concept for NJ clan logo for the Mercs)

Mandalorians, Star Wars (Fayt and me basically, thinner lines)

THEN SOME JERKASS STOLE MY TABLET
and I went about two or three weeks without drawing at all ahaA and in the meantime I got upset over Tales of the Abyss with a few people

Tear Grants, Tales of the Abyss (Fayt and I have a running joke about him hitting me in the face with a snowball (that's what this is))

Tear & Luke, Tales of the Abyss (I HAVE NEVER DRAWN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE?)

oh my god sorry for all of it but that's basically what I've been up to outside of assignments for drawing, I really have no idea why my style fluctuates so much but I've noticed it depends on what I'm drawing
also I'm trying to draw people more and I think it's working but jury's out on that one still

    cnc or whatever

Today's contest announcement is one for the writers - write a Kingdom Hearts piece of an in-universe style canon. It can focus on anything in the Kingdom Hearts series up to and including Dream Drop Distance, but it must be written seriously. Meaning no “Kingdom Hearts in Highschool” or anything non-canon. Aside from that, go wild!

There is no length minimum or limit, so use your own judgement on how much to write. Aim for at least 2-3 paragraphs.

    Rules:
    • MUST be related to in-universe - that means no original characters or anything like that.
    • Must be appropriate as per KHV's rules.
    • DO NOT take someone else's writing and claim it as your own. We will check, should we find this happens you will be disqualified.

    DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 2ND

The entry thread will be in the writing section in a week. As with all the other contests, entries will be judged by all of staff.

If you have any questions, please message me, Chevalier, Plums, or Mish and we'll be happy to help.
Good luck to all that participate!

Seems like Square-Enix has finally announced the long-rumored Kingdom Hearts HD edition, containing KH:Final Mix, Re:Chain of Memories, and 358/2 Days. Officially titled KINGDOM HEARTS -1.5 HD ReMIX-, it's set to release in Japan at some point in 2013 on the PlayStation 3.
We will have a better idea of what the announcement says once we have our translator on, but either way this is an exciting new direction for the Kingdom Hearts series!

    from: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/kingdom/khhd/

EDIT: There is supposedly also a Kingdom Hearts game for web browsers in development along the lines of a "social game". The Famitsu article for that can be found here.

As many of you probably know, 2012 is the 10th anniversary of the very first Kingdom Hearts game. We’ve come a long way since then and there’s still a lot to go, but for now staff has put together some events and goodies to celebrate!

What are we doing to celebrate? Contests, events, and giveaways!

But just what do we have planned for everyone to do? Well...you'll just have to stick around and see, but we're covering a HUGE amount of creative possibilities to ensure as many people can participate. Events will be announced once a day, and don't worry - you'll have plenty of time to participate. So on with today's event!

Today I'm happy to announce something that brought many of us here: AMVs.

The first contest is an AMV competition, and here's the rules.
You must use footage from at least three of the following games:
    -Kingdom Hearts/Final Mix
    -Kingdom Hearts II/Final Mix+
    -Chain of Memories/CoM:Reverse/Rebirth
    -358/2 Days
    -Birth By Sleep/Final Mix
    -Re:coded
    -Dream Drop Distance

The only other limitation is to keep any additional content (such as music) appropriate for KHV's standards. If you have doubts or any questions at all, please feel free to message me, Stardust, or Okabe Rintarou with your concern.

    DEADLINE: OCTOBER 20TH, 2012
All entries will be judged by staff on a whole.

And that’s it for the events and contests, though staff might have some surprises in store…but the only way to find out is to celebrate with us!

Happy 10th, and we hope you enjoy what we have planned!

Fayt just left for his flight to the US so we'll be heading to Celebration VI in a few days. Even if I don't get approved as an official Mercs member in time, this is something I'm proud of since after nearly two and a half years of work it's finally at a completed stage.
Once we're back expect lots of pictures, we're going all four days and are bound to see some cool stuff. Supposedly the Rebel Legion is going to have a huge Rancor on display at their booth so I can't wait to see what the Mercs and 501st have.

But I have been extremely scarce around here lately. Main causes of this are work every day and then pushing on to get my armor done by Celebration VI, it's very time consuming (and absolutely exhausting).
Additionally, I've been getting ready for Fayt to be here, and once work is over with my time will be split between costuming and cleaning the house. I might be on briefly every now and again but I probably won't be posting much - then after he's here I doubt I'll get on much at all.
Especially since we'll be heading down to Florida on the 22nd for Celebration VI, I have no idea if our hotel room will have wifi at all. If not, we'll be back on the 29th. Once he goes home on the 1st I should be back fully.

I'm excited and will be taking a lot of pictures mostly because sabby and star are making me and will have a full account of possibly overdosing on Star Wars.
See you guys in a few weeks!

One of the many things I was killing myself over during my final week of classes. This is the first time I've done 3D models in this level of detail (and I'm aware things are off) but given it was a first attempt I'm pretty proud of how everything came out. All textures and lighting were done by me as well.
Idea was a late gaming night.

Back when the Hobbies section was still around, waaay back in 2010, I posted a project about building Mandalorian armor. For those unfamiliar with that or Star Wars in general, think Boba Fett.
that is one of my favorite Fett images because that actually happened
Anyway. Since the original posting my armor concept has gone through several revisions (and still is), and is very much a work in progress. My current goal is to get it done and approved by the Mandalorian Mercs costume club, meaning I have to meet certain standards set by the club in order to qualify, by August of this year. More specifically in time for Celebration VI in Florida. Both Fayt and I are working towards that goal, so hopefully we'll make it in time.

My character is a close-range fighter and will use a concussion rifle for range, then use gauntlet-mounted tekkokagi (wrist claws) for finishing the job. The idea for my kit is a bit of a "wild" feel, right now I'm debating on if I want to keep it human species or go with a nonhuman like a Shistavanen to tie in with that though I'm starting to lean more in the nonhuman direction as it's not commonly done and the creativity will help with passing the application process.

Armor concept as of May (quick sketch, nothing fancy):
The symbol on the left would be used in place of the traditional diamond between the chest plates.
And as of yesterday, I'm going to have this somewhere on my armor - probably my helmet, right now thinking about removing the center stripe altogether and having this there instead. Either that or on one of my chest plates or shoulder bells.

This is what I had to start with.

And after a bit of sketching and planning and trips to the fabric store, this is currently what my flightsuit and belt look like (picture was taken at like 2am which is why I am so out of it).

Meanwhile, I had worked on my blaster - concussion rifle with a bayonet.

Since the default position of the front pump is forward and can't be pushed back unless the ammo is present, I opened it up and took all of this out...

Going along with the close-combat idea, I decided to add a bayonet. Cut it out of a piece of scrap wood and sanded it to give it shape and dulled it, then test taped it to the front pump, which I had unscrewed and flipped around for a base.

It stays in a locked position in the back, but it can be extended too.

For the claws, I know that they'll be detachable and will be stored in the pockets on the pants of my flightsuit. Chances are I'll be using rare earth magnets to keep them on the gaunts.
I also went to the nearby Army/Navy surplus store and picked up a few things.
Best part of the trip was getting gloves that were the same color as my flightsuit and actually fit me, and I'm thinking of making the twin pouches into stun/EMP/flash-bang grenade holders. The larger pouch is thinner so I'm thinking of leaving it as is or cutting off the flap (or at least part of it) and making it a knife sheath.

And that's what I have so far. This will be updated with pictures when more progress is made.

Some of you may remember a REALLY LONG TIME AGO when I was working on Mandalorian armor...and then eventually some stuff in the clan happened and I dropped out for a while.
    BUT
    not anymore
That being said, I'm finishing up the design of my helmet tonight and have two possible choices to make.
V1 using this design and V2 using this one.

This is very roughly what it would look like, respectively.
    [IMG] [IMG]

    Any feedback would be A+

edit: oh yeah the dark gray is going to be black but it looked really ugly to have solid black on there like that
