Fast Food Madness (The Epic Return)

Yes, we are back! For those of you who don’t know, Fast Food Madness (FFM) was a popular RP back in the day. In fact, we had 3 threads of it! Yes, THREE!! And the most amazing part? For the second two threads here were only two of us Rping. Yeah, we’re obsessive.

We took a break from our obsessiveness and have decided to come back to our imaginary land with a new RP: FFM: The Epic Return. Now, I would to say something here…and please don’t be offended. My friend (Forever Love) and I would like this to be a two person RP. Just us two, because we’ve already worked out the plot and in order for anyone new to understand it, you’d have to read the other three threads. And since the third one is off the site, that’s pretty much impossible.

All that I ask is that you ignore this thread. However, if you get bored and want to read it, that’s fine—whatever. Just please refrain from posting. ;D

Now…why is it called Fast Food Madness, you ask? If you were back in the original thread, you know the story: Organization XIII gave up on the evil acts and took jobs in the local Burger King. Sora and co. somehow inherited a McDonald's and work there as well. And by the McDonald's is a Wendy's, where Sora's friends from various worlds are employed. Between the 3 restaurants, there is a rivalry because McDonald's is growing and bringing in more customers faster than BK or Wendy's. All of the action takes place in the Big Apple, New York City.

But we’re no longer following that—this thread has nothing to do with fast food. xP And since I’m pretty sure nobody here is going to participate in this thread (for your sake, I hope you don’t—you’d be HOPELESSLY confused) I won’t bother posting the new plot/topic.

    Now, onto some business:

[Hola KH-Vers. As of late I have had an unexplainable urge to write yet another story. But I am saying this right away: It IS a one-shot. And a very long one at that. So comment, criticize, insult if you want. But I hope that you enjoy the story so the insults won't be an issue. =D]

    Lost And Insecure

It was a typical Tuesday night. Or so it seemed. Tifa cleaned one last glass before putting it in the cupboard. Most of the customers at 7th Heaven had already trickled out, mumbling they had to go home for unexplainable reasons. This was the life that Tifa Lockhart was used to. But tonight...tonight something felt different. It felt as if something were missing.

Was it Cloud? No, of course not. Cloud didn’t get home until late on a Tuesday night. For some reason, this day of the week was his busiest when it came to deliveries. He wouldn’t be home for several more hours.

Still, there was an eerie feeling that haunted Tifa’s heart. She almost called Cloud just so she could hear his stoic response that everything was alright. But she didn’t want to appear weak in front of him; he had already seen her vulnerable before, and she hated that so much. Tifa Lockhart had learned to be very independent, whether she wanted to live that way or not.

Six months ago, a little while before Kadaj and his gang terrorized the city, Cloud had almost never come home. And he had never answered his phone, either. It was during that period that Tifa had started losing faith in her childhood friend. He clearly didn’t care for her, so she needed to stop dying inside because of his lack of consideration. She tried moving on, and though she would never admit it to anyone, she never completely lost her feelings for Cloud. However, she was afraid to make a move. What if he ran away again? He had been better in the last few months, but he could always change. Tifa knew this transformation in him couldn’t last forever.

For a long time now, Tifa had put the kids to bed herself. Denzel was a new addition to the family, but he and she were so close now it was as if Tifa had given birth to him herself. He had her fearless spirit and determination, while other times he had Cloud’s seriousness and apathy. Tifa scoffed softly; Cloud wasn’t even around and yet he still had such a great effect on that child.

Tifa set down her towel and stopped working all together, a thought suddenly entering her mind: she hadn’t seen the kids in a while. Sure, she had put them to bed an hour ago, but normally at least one of them came down asking her to read them an extra bed-time story. Maybe I should go check on them...

With an aching heart, Tifa did just that. She walked straight up the stairs then made the first right to Marlene’s room.

    Everything was fine.

Then she walked two more steps down the hall and looked into Denzel’s room.

    Everything was not fine.

The bed was empty! Tifa rushed into the room, heart suddenly racing. There were no signs of struggle; other than the vacant bed everything was fine. Except for the window being open. The window is open?! Tifa practically tripped over her own feet trying to get there, to see what was going on. It wasn’t forced open; Denzel had opened it from the inside.

He had left on his own. He had run away.

Tifa shakily reached into her pocket and pulled out a cell phone. She dialed a number she knew by heart and spoke as calmly as she could. “Barret, can you come to my home? I need you.â€

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Only five minutes later, Barret came in through the bar entrance. By that time most of the customers had left, and those who had been in when Barret entered quickly left. The man may have had a kind heart, but to those drunkards he just looked like he would kill them all off right away if they even looked at him wrong.

    “Teef? What’s wrong?â€

“Denzel is gone,†Tifa stated weakly. “I don’t know when it happened exactly, but I’m going out to look for him. Can you stay here and watch the bar?â€

“Why do you need somebody to watch the bar? Aint it already closed down...?â€

Tifa sighed. “I really called you because if Marlene finds out Denzel is gone, you’ll be the only one who can comfort her.†It was then that Barret understood.

“Go. But take your coat; it’s nippy out.â€

Tifa smiled faintly and stood on her toes to give Barret a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you.â€

However, Barret wanted more than that. He gently pulled her into a hug and spoke quietly into her ear. “Be safe; there are lots of goons out at night.â€

Tifa nodded faintly and broke free of him. She grabbed her jacket off the coat hanger and turned around to Barret. “I’ll be back soon,†she promised before walking out the door.

A rush of cold air immediately greeted her, the cool October breeze making her realize just what Barret had been talking about. Worry over took her as she started running randomly toward the exit of the market place; Denzel hadn’t grabbed a coat, so he could have hypothermia by the time she found him. IF she found him. Tifa ran as quickly as she could, turning toward Midgar. There was only one place Denzel would run away to without telling anyone: The ruins of Sector 7.

A few weeks ago, Denzel had told Tifa about an experience he had when he had his geostigma. He had a flashback of watching Shin-Ra news and the headline was “AVALANCHE attacks Sector 7.†At the time, Tifa had calmly explained that it was a lie, which it was. President Shinra had ordered the plate to fall and that it did, destroying the entire area. And, concerning Denzel, it killed his parents and left him without a home.

Denzel wanted to visit the ruins and plant some flowers at that time, so Denzel, Marlene, and Tifa all headed out to mourn the loss of their friends and family. Tifa had thought that would be the last of their problems concerning Denzel’s loss, but she was wrong now, considering he had run away. He had to have gone to this place. If he wasn’t there, Tifa had no clue where he would be.

Distracted by her many thoughts, Tifa focused back on reality as she approached a torn apart playground. It was the closest thing to the Sector 7 ruins that still stood. However, it was just barely standing. The debris and metal from the wreckage was still spread all over the ground. Nobody had any desire to fix a playground when life was so desolate and hopeless.

Even in the dark of night, Tifa could see something huddled up right by the metal wall. A small, trembling figure. “Denzel?â€

The figure turned around, confirming Tifa’s suspicions. She breathed a sigh of relief as she quickly walked over, careful not to trip over anything. “What’re you doing out here Denzel? You scared me half to death!†Tifa cried, kneeling down by the child and wrapping him in an embrace before he could respond. Her soft tears trickled down her cheeks and Denzel’s quiet sniffles echoed through the silent place.

“I-I’m sorry,†Denzel said through his tears. “I...had a dream, about my mother, and she was calling me here. I-I thought if I came here, I would see her again. But everything is the way it always has been.†The boy gripped Tifa’s coat tightly in his hand, trembling heavily in Tifa’s arms. Tifa didn’t know if it was from sadness or the cold, so she assumed it was both.

“Denzel...†Tifa released the boy from her embrace and he did the same, though it was clear he didn’t want to. “Here, take my coat, it’s freezing out,†she said while unzipping it and draping it around the boy’s shoulders. “It’s time we get you home. When we get there, I’ll make you a cup of hot chocolate and we can sort things out...okay?â€

A sliver of hope appeared in Denzel’s eyes as the child nodded. Tifa smiled faintly, ruffling his hair lightly. He was letting her take care of him, thank goodness. In this sense, he was not like Cloud. Cloud never let anyone take care of him when he was feeling down; he always fled. At least Denzel had that much sense in him.

Tifa wordlessly grabbed Denzel’s hand as she stood, knees sore from kneeling on the ground. “Let’s go home, where we belong,†Tifa said for no reason in particular. She just wanted Denzel to feel reassured by her voice even if she had nothing to say. The two started walking, but they didn’t even make it past the playground when it started to rain on them. Tifa gasped softly at the freezing cold water droplets. She used her free hand to put up the hood of her jacket on Denzel while the boy put his arms through the sleeves and fumbled with the zipper. Once Tifa was sure her adopted son was as warm as could be, they hurried home.

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Twenty-five minutes later, the two rushed into the bar, finally escaping the downpour that plagued them all the way home. Tifa, drenched by the freezing cold liquid, shut the door behind them with a breath of relief. Finally they were in the warmth of their own home again. A sigh escaped her lips without thought as she leaned back against the door, her body trembling because of the cold.

“Tifa?†Denzel questioned, the boy with big round eyes standing in front of her now. He still had on her coat, so he was dry and warm. Tifa felt a faint warmth in her heart, so glad that Barret had told her to take her coat. Even if she hadn’t worn it all that long, at least Denzel was okay.

“Denzel, why don’t you go upstairs and put on your warmest clothes? Then I’ll make you some hot chocolate.†The boy nodded in response before scurrying up to his room to follow Tifa’s gentle command.

The black-haired woman looked down at her feet, seeing a puddle of water forming at her feet. She shivered again, wrapping her arms tightly across her chest. So, so cold...but if she walked across the entire bar, she would get everything wet. And if she didn’t she would remain cold.

    “Teef?â€

Tifa jumped at the voice, her eyes wandering upward. Barret was standing in front of her, concern written all over his features. As soon as he saw the look in her eyes, he mumbled something about getting a towel and headed towards the bathroom. The girl shut her eyes, feeling cold and exhausted. She waited silently for Barret and the towel, having the appearance of being patient but nearly ready to scream out at her friend because she was so cold.

Barret reappeared and before Tifa recognized what happened there was a towel wrapped around her shoulders. Barret’s hand was on her shoulder now and his eyes, filled to the rim with worry, were resting on Tifa.

“You need to get changed now,†he told her kindly. Tifa met his eyes once again and nodded silently before pulling the towel closer to her. She was heading for the stairs when she saw the door to the storage room open. Cloud came out and immediately stopped where he was, his eyes locked on Tifa. Judging by the look in his eyes, he was completely clueless as to anything that was going on here. He had probably thought Tifa was in bed and so were the kids. If he had been thinking that way, he was very wrong.

Tifa held his gaze for a moment before rushing up the stairs, not wanting to give him an explanation or let him into her heart again. No, she wasn’t going to let her emotions get the better of her. Not now; not while Denzel needed her. She hastily entered her room and shut the door behind her before pulling off her wet, sticky clothes. After drying off, she dressed herself in a pair of warm pants, a white long-sleeved shirt and a gray sweatshirt. Then, once she hung her wet clothing in the bathroom, she headed back downstairs. Surprisingly, Denzel was not down there. He’s stalling, Tifa realized, heart breaking. She didn’t want him to be afraid of her; she loved him so much, and she just wanted to help him through whatever he was struggling with. She wanted to take away his pain and bear it herself.

A figure appeared in the corner of Tifa’s eye, making her stiffen. But the person didn’t approach her; they simply stood there, staring at her. There were only two people who that could possibly be: Barret or Cloud. Judging by the intensity and awkwardness of the stare, Tifa guessed it was Cloud. She turned her head to the right and saw that her suspicions were correct; it was Cloud that was staring at her. Trying to hide the weakness and exhaustion she felt, she turned to face him, arms folded casually across her chest. In reality, though, she had her arms crossed because she was still ice cold.

“Barret told me Denzel ran away,†Cloud stated, breaking through the silence.

Tifa nodded. “He was by the Sector 7 ruins.â€

Cloud paused. “I knew taking him there a few weeks ago was a bad idea.â€

“If I hadn’t taken him then, then he would have just run away on his own,†Tifa said tensely, her body stiffening; taking Denzel there had been her idea in the first place. Cloud wisely fell silent, not continuing that path of the conversation.

    “Is he alright?â€

“He’s home, warm and safe.†Tifa left it at that, knowing that Cloud only cared about those simple things. After all, he couldn’t love anyone these days. Not really. So there was no point in telling him about the emotional struggles Denzel was going through. For a few awkward moments, both of the adults were silent. “I thought he was coming down right after he got changed. I’d better go check on him.†With that, Tifa headed back up the stairs, thankful for an excuse to leave that conversation.

She walked past Marlene’s room, careful not to make too much noise. Once she arrived at Denzel’s room, she tapped lightly on the door. “Denzel? Can I come in?†After a few moments of silence, Tifa gently pushed the door open. “Denzel?†Tifa’s eyes softened at what she saw: Denzel fast asleep in his bed. A weak smile appeared on Tifa’s face as she silently shut the door, leaving the boy to his slumber. She was so thankful he was asleep; it was easier to talk with him when he was well-rested. They’d have a conversation about everything tomorrow.

Tifa yawned. Sleep seemed like a very appealing idea to her. Honestly though, she didn’t think she could fall asleep when she was so cold. Perhaps a cup of hot chocolate would warm her up. The simple thought of it made warmth enter her heart, so Tifa knew it was a good idea. She quietly made her way down the hall and descended the stairs once again. Cloud was no longer standing where he was before, but now he was sitting at one of the tables.

“Denzel’s asleep,†Tifa stated softly. Cloud’s facial expression changed slightly, showing a bit of tenderness. Tifa, feeling a little started by his show of emotion, headed right into the kitchen and started making her beverage. It was only a matter of minutes before the water was steaming hot and she had finished mixing in the hot chocolate powder. She inhaled and got a whiff of the beverage, making her muscles relax.

She carried her mug out into the main area of the bar, cold hands being warmed by the hot cup. Not surprisingly, Cloud hadn’t left the area. He was sitting at a table, looking over some paperwork for his delivery service. Tifa didn’t understand why he didn’t work at his desk. But because of his presence, Tifa felt as if she had to go elsewhere to enjoy her beverage. She turned down the hall and made a left into the living room they had behind the bar. Barret was there, casually watching the television. As soon as he saw her enter the room, he stood to his feet.

“Thank you for coming, Barret,†Tifa said, truly grateful for his assistance.

“No problem. Let me know if you ever need anything. Or if spiky out there ever needs his butt kicked.â€

Tifa smiled. “I will,†she promised. Barret gave her a quick hug before walking out, undoubtedly heading for home now. She would have told him to stay the night, but he always refused whenever she asked him. He always seemed to think he was the third wheel, getting between her and Cloud. He couldn’t have been more wrong.

Tifa sighed and set herself down on the couch, careful not to spill her piping hot drink. She focused herself on the television while drinking her hot chocolate. Not too long later, she had already finished her hot chocolate. And yet...she was still so, so cold. She pulled a blanket off the back of the couch and covered herself with it. Minutes later, she was fast asleep on the couch, the TV still on.

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

    Sniffle....sneeze....cough...sniffle....

Tifa groaned, sunlight shining directly onto her eyes. Her eyelids felt too heavy to open, her body weighed down as if somebody were sitting on her. She put a great amount of energy into moving her arm and pulling the blanket over her head. But then an overwhelming heat invaded her head and she threw off the covering completely. The moment the blanket fell to the ground, she wished she had it back. She shivered despite the fact that her body was covered in sweat and her head was burning.

I’m sick, she thought, the facts clear as day now. The sniffling, coughing, sneezing...the heat and the shivering...she must have gotten sick because of being out in the rain last night. As if on cue, Tifa had a fit of sneezing, little sneezes escaping her lips uncontrollably. When it was finally done, she groaned again. I hate being sick...

Tifa rolled onto her side, facing towards the back of the sofa she laid on. The TV was on softly, but that was the least of her concerns at the moment. The only thing she wanted was to get a glass of water to quench this unexplainable thirst she felt. She laid there for a while, imagining different scenarios but never actually performing any of the actions she imagined herself doing. She imagined opening the bar and letting in all the customers who were surely waiting for her to open the 7th Heaven Bar. She imagined getting her blanket back and holding it close to herself. She imagined herself getting water. But none of it was true. The illusions haunted her for a while, not leaving her alone for even a minute.

    “Tifa?â€

The sound of her name sounded more real that any of the hallucinations the young woman had heard earlier, but she wasn’t ready to believe the voice was real. She needed to see...she needed to see if there was really somebody with her. She gathered her strength and rolled over, eyes opening up. Yes, there was somebody there, but it couldn’t have really been him. He wouldn’t be there with her. But the concern in his eyes...it looked real enough to her. The man put a hand on her sweaty forehead and Tifa kept her eyes on him the whole time.

“You’re burning up, Teef,†Cloud said, sounding almost caring. No, surely that was the fever talking. Cloud couldn’t care...he hadn’t before. Except for when he found her in Aerith’s church. But that was different. Or was it? He awkwardly took his hand away and looked at the floor. “I’ll get the medicine box,†he muttered before leaving her alone.

Tifa shivered again, curling herself into a ball. What was the matter with her? She had truly lost her mind if she thought Cloud was with her. He was always doing something...always away from home. Always away from her. It was all in her head; surely it was all in her head.

Time passed strangely, seemingly both in slow motion and in fast forward. Did those things cancel each other out and make the time lapse normal? Or did they overrule each other somehow? Was one dominant over the other? Tifa pondered these questions in her hazy state, eyes closing in fatigue. The questions were making her even more tired than she already was.

Suddenly Tifa was aware of another presence in the room. She tiredly opened her eyes, Cloud appearing in her vision. It appeared as if he weren’t just a figment of her imagination. Even in her foggy state of mind she was touched by the fact that he was really there. He was kneeling in front of her, bright blue eyes staring into her brown orbs.

“Open up,†he said gently, holding a thermometer in his hand. Tifa silently obeyed, feeling very childish and vulnerable but not really caring. Cloud stuck the thermometer under her tongue, staring at her intently while waiting for the device to beep. When it did, Cloud gently pulled the thermometer out of her mouth and looked at the digital reading. He frowned. “103.4. You must have caught the flu or something.â€

Tifa blinked twice before responding. “I have to get up and run the bar,†she murmured, starting to push herself up. Cloud’s gentle hand on her shoulder stopped her.

“You’re in no condition to be up and moving around,†he stated tenderly. “I can do whatever has to be done with the bar.â€

    “...your deliveries...â€

“...can wait another day,†Cloud finished. “It’s alright. You just stay here and rest; I’ll take care of everything.â€

“Cloud...†Tifa protested weakly. She was going to go on and say how a cold had never stopped her from working before, but Cloud leaned down and kissed her on the forehead, absolutely stunning her. Before she could think of a response, he left her alone again.

That must have been an illusion, Tifa thought. There’s no way he would have done that in real life! Right...? Even in her haziness she wasn’t as sure as she would have liked to have been. Part of her desperately hoped she wasn’t delusional while another part of her hoped she was. Strange things happen when you’re sick...

Tifa shut her eyes, not having the will to stay awake in a world with so much sickness and suffering. Let me get back to my dream...the one where Cloud is caring for me... Tifa sighed softly, curling into a smaller ball. It was so, so cold, and yet she was still sweating. Reality wasn’t a pleasant place to be. She somehow managed to grab the blanket off the floor and cover herself with it before drifting into a half-conscious state.

The news was on in the background, saying something about the terrible weather from the previous night. Heh, as if Tifa didn’t already know all about that. Tifa thought she heard laughter; probably from a new TV program. Or from the bar. After all, sometimes her customers got rowdy. But never when she was around, because they knew from experience she could pack a punch.

Tifa shivered, pulling the blanket closer to her. Why me? Why can’t things ever go right for me...? she wondered, wallowing in self-pity. I was going to talk to Denzel today, and take him to soccer practice, and take Marlene to the dentist, and make dinner for everyone...

She needed to move. She had so much to do that day; she couldn’t just sit around. Tifa started shifting under the blanket, trying to sit herself up. But the moment she was upright she fell back down to her previous position. Moving made her far too dizzy, and if it was that bad sitting, she couldn’t imagine how extreme the sensation would be if she were standing. She sighed, burying her head into a pillow. Being sick was the worst experience ever.

Her closed eyes opened halfway when she heard footsteps. Again it was Cloud. Really, how could he keep showing up in her imagination? She wasn’t even thinking about him and yet he was still appearing. She didn’t understand...

“Time to get you up to bed,†he murmured gently, bright blue eyes lightly gazing at the girl on the couch. He didn’t even wait for her to respond to his voice. He knelt down part way and slid his arms under her body before picking her up and holding her close to his body. Tifa felt herself melt away at his warmth, her body relaxing into him. She lost the will to fight him and leaned her head against him, forehead against his neck. Cloud tightened his grip on her but it wasn’t tight enough to hurt her. Actually, he was being extremely gentle.

Tifa closed her eyes, exhaling a soft breath. She could feel that Cloud was on the move now, so she figured he was taking her upstairs so she could lie in her own bed. But she didn’t want that; she wanted to stay in his arms forever. Tifa was startled at her own thoughts. When had she started to allow herself to feel for Cloud like that? What had changed? She shivered, curling up slightly in Cloud’s arms. The blond haired man pulled her closer and rested his chin on top of her head.

“Here we are,†Cloud stated softly. Tifa opened her eyes partway and looked down, seeing her bed in front of her. How had they gotten there so fast? She didn’t want to be set down yet! All that she wanted was to stay in this place where Cloud cared for her so sweetly and loved her and cherished her...

Cloud did hold onto her for a few more moments before leaning down and gently placing her on the bed. Only when he was sure she was alright did he release her completely and pull the blankets up. “I would get you more blankets, but I don’t want you to overheat,†he told her, pulling up the last cover. Tifa nodded tiredly, having no words to respond with. Cloud’s eyes softened as he sat himself down on the edge of the bed and pushed back some of Tifa’s hair. “I’m worried about you,†he confessed softly.

“It’s just a cold,†Tifa managed to say, trying to get Cloud to stop worrying but at the same time enjoying every minute of it. She never, ever got to see the tender side of him. She had stopped believing it existed, and yet here it was in front of her very eyes.

Cloud smiled faintly. “That doesn’t stop me from worrying about you,†he murmured, running his hand down Tifa’s hair. Tifa got chills at the touch but tried not to show it. Okay, it was official: this was definitely a hallucination. Cloud would never act so tender. However, this was a dream that Tifa didn’t want to leave. She may have felt sicker than she knew possible, but having this Cloud here with her was worth it.

Tifa exhaled softly, the breath coming out as a sad sigh. If only this could happen in real life...she shut her eyes, too tired to keep her eyes open. She felt Cloud’s hand run over her hair again, multiple times. This was her only awareness of reality as she drifted into a deep state of slumber.

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Day transformed into night rather quickly to Tifa. She was only aware of the change when she awoke from her rest and the room was completely dark. But even more than that, Tifa realized something else. There was something here with her, something right in front of her. She groggily brought up a hand and set it against the figure in front of her. Tifa froze when she touched the fabric of an undershirt.

Cloud was asleep in front of her, holding her in a light embrace while he was unconscious.

Tifa pulled her hand away, careful not to awaken Cloud. She started to sweat even more than she already was, fever and all. Cloud had never done something so tender before, but Tifa couldn’t believe this was a hallucination. This felt more real than anything she had ever experienced.

The tenderness of the moment, however, was taken away by Tifa’s unquenchable thirst. She hadn’t had a drink of water in hours, and she was already burning up because of the fever. Water...I need water....

The young woman carefully moved out of Cloud’s embrace, being as quiet as she could possibly be. She desperately wanted to stay in his arms, but she needed water more than anything else at that moment. Tifa held her breath as she sat herself up on the side of the bed, Cloud’s even breathing still in her ears. Good; she didn’t wake him. Not waiting for him to wake up and possibly see she was gone, Tifa stood and tip-toed out of the bedroom.

One of the stairs creaked beneath her feet, stopping her for just a moment. She knew she couldn’t help that little bit of noise, but still, she really really didn’t want to wake anyone. A cough escaped her lips, then another. And another. Tifa grabbed onto the stair railing, feeling dizzy in her coughing fit. She put her other hand over her mouth, trying to quiet her own outbursts. After a minute or so, the coughing did start to subside. But the fit only made her more thirsty than before. Tifa carefully descended the stairs, careful not to make noise or collapse because of her dizziness.

    Made it to the bottom,
she thought hazily, a bit of pride rising up inside her heart because she had successfully made it to the bottom of the stairs. That feeling quickly disappeared when the thirst clouded her sense again. Water. She desperately needed water.

Tifa ran a hand against the wall as she made her way over to the bar, nearly tripping over her own two feet in drowsiness. She stumbled to the sink and grabbed the first glass she saw and filled it with water. Then she brought it to her lips and drank the entire glass without taking one break. The liquid in her throat was refreshing to her, waking her from her stupefied state and cooling her down slightly. She gasped in relief, filling the glass again so she wouldn’t feel as if she were dehydrated. Once it was filled, she shut off the water and took the glass with her to one of the tables in the bar. She sat herself down heavily, body weak and exhausted because of the illness that had overtaken her.

How can I possibly feel so weak? I’ve fought so many battles and yet I can hardly move now? I must be so weak... As if to answer her own thoughts, Tifa coughed loudly. She coughed again and again until she reached for her water and gulped it down, the coughs ceasing. Tifa sighed and laid her head in her arms, too tired to move. She wasn’t tired mentally, only physically. And to her, that was the worst thing in the world.

The sound of footsteps reverberated through the room, but Tifa didn’t notice them until the source was right by her. She tensed slightly, not knowing who was behind her. Maybe if she just sat there with her eyes closed the person would speak so she would know who it was. At least, she hoped that was the case.

“Teef,†the person behind her murmured, making Tifa less tense. She would recognize that voice anywhere. It was Cloud. She wanted to respond and tell him that she was alright, but she was too tired to do anything. Her mind was screaming at her for making Cloud worry but her body didn’t even respond to the brain’s protesting.

“Hey,†Cloud said softly, gently setting a hand on Tifa’s shoulder. He probably thought she was asleep, considering that he started to gingerly stir her “awakeâ€.

“I’m awake,†Tifa mumbled incoherently, fever burning, chest aching and head throbbing. Cloud, though he couldn’t have possibly understood her, stopped shaking her. He at least saw that she was conscious now. Without warning, he moved his hand completely behind her back and moved beside her, sliding his other arm under her legs. Then, careful not to bang her knees on the bottom of the table, he picked her up and carried her in the direction of the stairs. But instead of taking her back up to bed, he took her back to the living room and sat her upright on the couch.

“I’m gonna go get you some medicine,†Cloud stated softly, gently pulling away from Tifa. Without waiting for a response, he left the room and headed toward the bathroom. Tifa sighed softly and let herself fall back into the couch. She hated worrying Cloud like this. The attention was nice, but Tifa didn’t want it under these circumstances. After all, anyone could take pity on a sick person and act differently than they normally would. Of course; Cloud didn’t really feel anything for her. He couldn’t. Or rather, Tifa couldn’t let herself love him again. If he let her down one more time, she wouldn’t be able to recover from it.

“Here you go,†a quiet voice said, bringing Tifa back to reality. She blinked, the fuzzy figure in front of her becoming clear. Cloud was standing there, concern in his eyes and two pills in his hand. Tifa lifted a hand and took the pills away from him, her eyes avoiding his bright blue orbs. She mumbled her thanks before taking both pills without water. “You thirsty?†Cloud asked tenderly?

“I’m fine,†Tifa responded softly, heat rising to her face. Was she blushing? Or was her fever just making her head feel hot and heavy? She couldn’t tell the difference at that moment.

“You sure? You don’t look so good.â€

“Cloud, why are you doing this?†Tifa spoke her thoughts before she could stop herself.

“Taking care of you? Why wouldn’t I?â€

“No...I mean...treating me, like this. Like you care for me,†Tifa looked away from his eyes, but his hand under her chin turned her head back towards him.

“Because I do care about you,†Cloud stated softly. Tifa felt tears start coming to her eyes, but she didn’t let them fall just yet.

    “But you’re acting like, you...â€

“Like I love you?†Cloud finished. Tifa nodded. “It’s because I do. Tifa, I have for a long time. How could you have not seen the subtle ways that I watch out for you? I stay up late at night because I remember times when drunken men came into the bar and threatened you. I answer your calls now because I’m always afraid something is going to happen to you. I don’t know what I’d do without you, Tifa.â€

Tifa’s heart nearly stopped with Cloud’s words of kindness. No, surely he couldn’t mean it all! But then again, he had been staying up late for the past few months. Tifa had always thought it was just to reflect on his own thoughts, but what he said made sense. And he had been answering his phone more lately....

“I have always loved you, Tifa. Nobody has had a bond like we do. We grew close before I left to become a SOLDIER and even closer when we were chasing Sephiroth and saving the planet. I knewved you, but I didn’t know that you loved me.†Cloud chuckled, voice sounding a little more excited as he continued. “I didn’t know until after Kadaj was gone and Yuffie told me to ‘get a clue’. I couldn’t believe it, so I questioned her until she straight up told me that you loved me.

Tifa laughed weakly. “That Yuffie...always getting into other people’s business.â€

    “Are you mad she did?â€

Tifa shook her head. “No, not really. Though I did want to tell you myself.â€

    “So what’s stopping you?â€

Tifa smiled. “I love you, Cloud.â€

Cloud smiled back. “I love you too, Tifa. I always have, and I always will. I promise. And this will be a promise that I’ll never break.†He leaned forward from his crouching positing and gave Tifa a kiss on the forehead.

“I’ll always look out for you, Tifa.â€

“Forever and Always?†Tifa asked softly, hope replacing all doubt she had in her heart.

Cloud smiled and grabbed her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.

“Forever and Always, Tifa. Forever and Always.â€

[I wrote this all yesterday and added a few finishing touches. This takes place sometime during FFVII: Crisis Core. And no, I have nothing against AerithxZack. In fact, I adore the pairing. But I had to write this story for my sake. It's based on a true and very personal story. I'll say no more.

    Enjoy my tragic one-shot.]

    Heartbreak

How did it come to this? It didn’t make sense. Everything was just fine yesterday. He had even said “I love you” before he kissed her goodnight. And just earlier that day, he had told her that he would always love her. Always. When did always turn into never?

“Is it really over?” Aerith mumbled, hesitantly looking over to her boyfriend Zack. Surely he didn’t mean it. It was their one-year anniversary to that day. He was playing a joke on her. Of course, that was it. Zack was such a goofball sometimes. She didn’t understand it all the time, but she had grown used to it. He wouldn’t break up with her on such an important date...And in her church, too. Yes, her church. Seeing how she spent so much time there, Aerith saw it as her second home. This place was her sanctuary, her safe place. Nothing bad ever happened here. In fact, this was the place where she had met Zack in the first place. He had come crashing through her roof, and they had immediately fallen in love. Aerith had glanced into his bright eyes one time and she believed in love at first sight from that moment on.

“Yeah, it’s over,” he responded without hesitation. Aerith listened for the sarcasm in his voice, but there was none. Absolutely none.

“But—but why?” she whispered, tears filling her eyes. Her green eyes flickered up to Zack, her one true love. She heard rumors from the Turks that he had bought her a ring. The Turks, experts in their field of work, were never wrong. But Zack was still taking back his love for her? This made no sense at all.

“I just...” he ran a hand through his hair, clearly feeling awkward. “...I don’t...feel for you romantically...anymore.” His words were formal, but they still cut right through the girl’s heart more than any other words could.

“Was it something I said?” Aerith inquired without thought, her heart breaking with each passing second. Her tears were nearly flowing now, but she kept it inside, knowing she had to be strong. At that moment, she didn’t know why she had such a strong desire to be strong. She could only guess that instinct was telling her to save whatever dignity she had left. And besides, she didn’t want Zack to see her heart breaking. She still loved him so so much...

“It has nothing to do with you,” Zack stated, surprising Aerith. This boy really, really made no sense. If she hadn’t done anything wrong, then why didn’t he love her anymore? Love did not just disappear overnight. It was, literally, overnight for these two. She had seen love in Zack’s eyes last night, but today, she saw impassiveness. He was being so cold, breaking her heart like this. Couldn’t he see the pain he was causing her?

    “I...don’t...understand...”

“I don’t see any point in continuing this relationship,” he said bluntly. “We’re so different. Things aren’t going to work out.”

So different?! What a lie! They shared the same taste in music, same philosophical beliefs, same everything! Ok, so he was in SOLDIER and she was a flower girl in the slums. On the inside though, they were so, so alike! “We’re not very different,” she stated softly, surprised that she had spoken that stray thought aloud. There was one main train of thought running through her head as all this went on, and that was “Is this really happening? Is this really happening? Is this really happening...?”

Zack was silent at this comment. So, he too realized the truth of Aerith’s declaration. He wasn’t a completely fool after all; he had been caught in a lie, and he wasn’t going to dig himself deeper into that hole. That was a very wise move.

“It’s time I left,” he finally said. Zack picked himself up off the ground, and wiped off some of the pollen that had gotten on his pants. He had been sitting right by the edge of the flowerbed, and Aerith had been in the same position only a foot away. But now, he was leaving her...forever. Why? All because last night he had planned to break up with her. He saw no hope of a future with her, and he had gotten whatever he wanted out of her. There was nothing left for him now; he just wanted an exit, even if it hurt those around him.

“Why are you doing this?!” Aerith asked him, eyebrows furrowed in sadness and misunderstanding. There was no logic in this madness! Either he was being forced to do this, or he really was a cold, heartless jerk. “Is it Elena?” she inquired ruthlessly. “Are you leaving me for someone else?!”

“I. Don’t. Love. You. Anymore. It’s that simple.” Zack’s firmness broke Aerith’s heart completely, and one tear slid down her cheek despite her efforts to keep the emotions inside. He turned away, this time, not looking back for any reason. The black haired man started toward the exit, giving a casual wave to the heartbroken girl over his shoulder.

“Hey!” Aerith shouted in anger. She was so surprised at the rage and betrayal she felt, and it was a relief that she allowed it to control her now. “You forgot your stupid cure Materia!” Trembling, she picked it up off the ground where Zack had been sitting. Without thought, she chucked it at him, hitting him in the back of the head.

A satisfying "thud" reverberated throughout the church. I hope I knocked some sense into your head, you...you...liar....

She immediately wished she could take the action back, for when Zack turned around to pick up the fallen Materia, he still looked emotionless. There was absolutely no expression on his face. He felt no pain from this. None at all.

Zack turned back around, Materia in hand, as he walked forward. He exited the church without another word, leaving Aerith alone in her confusion and sorrow.

You said you would never leave. You promised you were different. You promised so much...and for what? I believed in you, and you don’t care. You don’t care at all. You’re not the person I thought you were. You lied to me and betrayed me. You taught me how to love, then you crushed me so that I may never love again. You’ve done all this and you won’t lose any sleep over it. That’s what kills me inside.

[For those of you who are wondering, yes, I did quit the site. That was a few months back, for those of you who never saw me and therefore never knew I quit. This thread does not mean that I'm returning to the site. I've had some time on my hands lately, so I decided to work on a fanfic. I'll come on every once in a while to post new chapters to this story. However, I do have some conditions...

Okay, if five of you post within a week of my posting a new chapter, I will post the next one early. If not, then the next chapter will come up a week afterwards anyway. At least for now, anyway. I have a bunch written up already, so hopefully I'll stay on a good schedual with this.

And for those of you who wonder how long the chapters are, they average 5-6 pages long in microsoft word. So yeah, a very healthy length. For those of you who read my other fanfic "Saving Kairi", allow me to warn you that this one is not going to have as many chapters as that one.

Alright, I believe I've said everyting I wanted to. If not, I can edit it in later ;D. Without further delay, here is chapter one of "The Journey"]

    Chapter 1: Running

    Where am I?

    What am I doing here?

    What’s going on?

The questions flooded the girl’s mind, and unfortunately for her, they went unanswered. She desperately wished she knew the truth of what was going on here, but only minor, unimportant details came to mind. And they didn’t even really answer any questions that were nagging her.

My name is Tifa Lockhart, and I’m lying here on some God-forsaken cot. Everything around me is silent, and even though my closed eyes, I can tell that there is some kind of faint light in this place. But what is this place? Why am I here?

“--stable now; the first time in days.”

Tifa started at the voice, unaware that anybody was with her. She hardly understood what the words meant, and she desperately wished somebody would make things more clear. The young woman furrowed her brows slightly, trying to force her closed eyes to open. But at the first moment she did, a great pain shot through her head. Without thought, she whimpered softly, unable to keep her pain hidden. A moment afterwards, things were still silent. Hadn’t anybody heard her whimper? If they did, they were being quite rude for not saying anything.

“Where am I?” Tifa murmured, having finally found the strength to speak. She sounded so groggy, and it was almost as if the pain from her headache came through in her voice. But before she could elaborate on that thought, a voice entered her ears once again.

    “Oh, you’re awake!”

Tifa’s eyes flickered open, and she saw a female standing by her bedside. A nurse. Why?

“What happened?” Tifa asked, rephrasing her question from earlier. Why does my head hurt? Why am I in this place?

“You’re in the Holy Midgar Hospital. You were fighting in the war with your people when a bomb went off near your camp. Most of your fellow warriors were killed, but you were fortunate enough to make it here for care.” The nurse spoke kindly to Tifa, her soft voice soothing the headache the girl already had. She had a sweet aura about her; her bright blue eyes and short blonde hair making her look very young. But the wisdom in her eyes seemed to express just how much she had seen in her life, however long it had been. “How are you feeling, dear?”

Tifa took a moment before finally speaking, wondering exactly how she was feeling. Physical pain wasn’t too bad, just the headache. And her arm....her arm was hurting a little bit. She hardly noticed that, though, as she drifted into a deep state of thought.

My name is Tifa Lockhart, and I’m in the middle of fighting a war. Not against the Turks or Shinra, but against a new class of Jenova bred soldiers. The Yuraks. I’m a class one hand-to-hand combatant, and was with my camp on the way to the battle front. But then.... Memories of the surprise attack flooded Tifa’s mind, and she shut her eyes again. Her friends were dead, missing, or long gone. It was the way the group travelled. Every man for himself. You don’t worry about your teammates. It was not a wise way to fight, but it was the style Tifa had gotten used to. After all, she hadn’t fought with a team in over a year. And that was with an old group of friends, fighting Kadaj’s group and his summoned beast when they terrorized the city.

It had been just over a year since Sephoroth’s reappearance, and his quick defeat. And Cloud’s revival as well. That day, it had been such a relief to see him alive again. She had smiled at him, and she could have sworn he smiled back. That was the first smile from him she had seen in a while. And one of the last, for that matter. Only a few weeks after that day, Tifa had left her home with only a few necessities. It wasn’t because of anyone around her, just troubling circumstances. Something was haunting her...something from her past. What it was, she didn’t know. She had left to find out. Without saying goodbye. Sure, she had left a note, but it didn’t explain a thing. It was a simple note, and she had no trouble remembering the one line she wrote.

“I’m sorry it has to be like this, but I need to leave.”

It was as simple as that. She had left the note on the pillow of her bed, and then snuck out in the middle of the night. For half a year, she had wandered the wilderness, going from town to town in search of some cure to her distress. But she found nothing. What stunned her, though, was how she had to move stealthily. On several occasions, she had heard of Cloud and their other friends searching for her. One time, she had to hide in an abandoned warehouse to avoid them.

In the middle of her wandering, she saw a group of soldiers marching toward the Western Desert, a new land mass that had appeared close to an old chocobo farm. When she asked the soldiers what was going on, they explained without hesitation.

Since the end of Shinra, a new group had been rising up deep in the west. They were the Yuraks, and they were a force to be reckoned with. With Jenova’s blood in their bodies, they were elite fighters. They believed they owned the world, and they were starting a global war to defeat all who stood in their way. They were approaching Midgar and Nibelhiem at that very moment, using the Western Desert as their path.

Within an hour of hearing these soldiers speak, Tifa enlisted in the army. Not just any part of the army. After all, she was not a sword fighter or gun wielder (though she could have done either if she wanted to). She joined the Rebks, a top class martial arts section of the army. In the six months she had been in the army, she was already one of the top in the class. She had gone on many missions; killed many Yuraks. And for what? A small bit of satisfaction? Tifa was doing work again, and not just bartending. She was working at something that mattered. Then why did she feel so empty inside?

That night, it was late evening, and Tifa’s group of Rebks had just finished setting up camp. They would reach the Western front early the next afternoon and fight in the largest battle they had ever been in. At least, they would have, if it hadn’t been for a surprise bombing that night. Tifa remembered the horror of seeing her teammates fall, and she tried to run. But a fragment impacted her, and the last thing she remembered seeing was the burning campsite.

And then she awakened in the hospital. This was the story of Tifa Lockhart thus far.

    “Dear?”

“I’m fine,” Tifa answered absently, opening her eyes again to see the nurse. Physically, anyway. Emotionally, not so much. But the nurse didn’t care about this, and Tifa didn’t bother sharing. It was her past, her mission. She was on her own now, and she was going to keep it that way. “When can I leave?”

The kind nurse smiled. “You just woke up,” she stated. “Give us a little while to make sure you’re alright.”

    *~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~*
A day later, Tifa was released from the hospital. She had no serious injuries to keep her there, and her nurse proclaimed it was a miracle. Heh, miracles don’t exist, Tifa wanted to say. But she kept that thought to herself. No need to create unnecessary conflict. And now, walking out the hospital doors, she was thankful she hadn’t made a fuss. Her cooperation is partially why she was released so soon. That, and her strength. After all, she was trained as an elite fighter. And that’s what she was.

Tifa reached up a hand and tucked back a strand of black hair. She looked down to the side as a tall blonde man walked past her and into the hospital. He seemed to be in a rush, but Tifa didn’t bother thinking about it. After all, it was none of her business. Nor did she want it to be. She had to look out for herself now. If she didn’t, nobody else would. The world was a lonely place, but it was something she couldn’t change.

There was only one place she was going to go now, and that was to the Western Front. There was a war to be fought, and she wouldn’t be left out of it. And besides, there was nowhere else for her to go now. Her home was the battle front, fighting to find a purpose. Or defend those who did have purpose. Whatever her duty was, she tried not to concern herself with it too much. Too much thought would only bring pain, as it had when she had left. Running away had been her only option when her emotions became so extreme, and it was her only option today as well.

Years ago, she had never run away from any problem or fight. She faced her problems head on with great courage. Often times, she acted simply to protect and watch out for her friends. But now that she was an individual, apart from the group, she acted very different. In fact, she didn’t really know who she was anymore. It didn’t matter. After all, who really answered the question “Who am I?” It was impossible to find out. A person could spend your whole life trying to figure it out, but in the end, Tifa knew it was a fool’s mission.

It doesn’t matter, she told herself. And besides, I’m not running away now. I’m running to the battle front.

Now a further distance from the hospital entrance, Tifa heard the automatic doors close, and footsteps a moment after that. “Gone again,” a male voice said, his voice showing disappointment. But...it wasn’t just any voice. It sounded so familiar. Even after days, weeks, and months of not hearing that voice, Tifa immediately knew who it was.

    Cloud.

He’s here?! Tifa panicked, though her physical features showed none of her nervousness. She had learned a long time ago to control her emotions so that others couldn’t see what she was thinking. Her footsteps didn’t even miss a beat as she kept walking away from the hospital. There was a park ahead, and there were just enough people and trees to keep her hidden. For a short while. Maybe she didn’t even have to hide. Tifa looked different after two years; something she had worked hard on. Her dark hair wasn’t quite as long as it was before, only going past her shoulders a little bit. Not only that, but she was thinner than before. The training she had received in the past months had really helped her change her appearance. And though she still was a fan of black, she now wore black jeans and a solid white quarter-sleeved shirt instead of her old black outfit. Of course; nobody would recognize her. She was invisible in this place. Still, Midgar was far too close to home. She wasn’t going to stay.

The girl promptly moved behind a tree, very careful not to draw attention to herself. Scanning the area, she started to carefully lower herself to the ground, so her back was against the tree. And then, moments later, he walked by. From behind, he looked as if he hadn’t changed at all. Except for his posture, which seemed a bit less proper than it had before. Stress?

Oh no... Cloud stopped a few feet in front of Tifa’s tree, his back still turned toward her. What was he doing? Tifa didn’t have to wait long for an answer, since Cloud reached into a pocket and pulled out a small object. A cell phone. Tifa’s heart beat rapidly in her chest, and her eyes were wide as she stared up at Cloud.

“She wasn’t there,” the man said into the phone, disappointment and sorrow laced in his voice. Tifa quickly realized that she was being spoken about, and it made her heart skip a beat. After a moment of silence, she turned her head away and looked to the ground. “I don’t know where she is now. Seems like I just missed her.”

The sorrow in his voice...Tifa desperately wanted to get up and tell him she was right there. And that she wouldn’t leave him again. But it was a promise she couldn’t make. This was one battle she had to fight alone. Cautiously, she started to get off the ground, her suspicious eyes staying on Cloud. But he wasn’t looking at her, his position the same as it had been before.

“I don’t know,” Cloud said, his voice tense. “The staff wouldn’t give me any information at all. But I know she was there...” he trailed off for a moment, and then spoke again. “She has to be in Midgar. We should search the city. We can bring her home. I can bring her home,” Cloud’s voice was softer as he spoke that last sentence and Tifa felt her heart break. She wasn’t sure why her emotions were so strong at that moment, and she tried to push them all back inside her, to a place she would never have to think about them again.

“But she belongs at home,” Cloud pleaded into the phone, his normally calm and impassive voice full of emotion. There was a moment of silence before he spoke again. “Fine, if you won’t help, I’ll find her myself.” Tifa heard the cell phone snap shut, and then she made her move, starting to walk through the grass, away from Cloud. Away from everything that she cared about.

Tifa Lockhart caught the next bus and left the city, planning to never return no matter what the circumstances. Fighting was her escape. No, there was something else. And though she wasn’t willing to admit it out loud, she knew deep inside what was going on.

    She was running away. Again.

Yup, you guys thought you would never be able to get rid of me, did you? Well, the day has come when I can end the torture and leave you all alone, because I know I drive you all insane. I know that deep down inside, you all must hate me. You all probably have been hoping I would leave. And I get it, who would want me around, right? Seriously, you all drive me insane too.

Naw, just kidding about that last bit...or all of it. Yeah, all of it. xD Most of you probably don't even know who I am. But seriously, I am leaving. I think for good, most likely. Unless I get tons of free time and write another fanfic, anyway.

Here's why I'm leaving: My life has gotten super complicated and busy with school, friends, and my boyfriend. I can't handle KH-vids on top of all that. So yes, I really am leaving. If I do come on, I'll be invisible and I'll probably just lurk around the threads like a creeper. =3 That's always fun.

Goodbye to all my friends on here...you know who you are.

    Kingdom Hearts- FFM V3!

What is FFM, you ask? It stand for "Fast Food Madness." You see, at V1 of this thread, this was about fast food.

However, this no longer has anything to do with fast food. Seriously, nothing at all. Instead, me and my co-roleplayer (Forever Love) have gone off on a completely different path, going whichever random way we please with this thread.

But if you're actually considering joining this RP and I haven't bored you away with the details, let me say something that will turn you off. The two of us roleplay each and every day, averaging about 10 pages a day. Also, we do not offer recaps. So if you missed anything in this thread, you would have to catch up on your own. AND you would have to read the other 12,000 posts of this roleplay.

Have I turned you off yet? Yeah, I thought so.

Characters--this part is a bit complicated. Since me and Forever Love were the only one active in the last one, we are simply declaring ourselves as the only members of this roleplay. So...

    Forever Love- Roxas and Kairi
    PEANUT- Sora, Namine, and Axel
**(And other random, made up characters) ;D**

And I guess I'll post the rules as well. Why not, right? xP

    -No Yao/Yuri
    -Keep your posts to PG-13
-Don't control other people’s characters. Only control your character(s) and your own customers.
-Try to keep cursing to a minimum. If you must, try to use **** or !@#$
-You can have 1 Character in each group
-Use proper grammar. We support good grammar in this thread. no txt tlk, kk??
-Post as often as you can, because it can get carried away (trust me). Inform us if you're leaving for a little while and that your character(s) will be inactive!
-Color code your characters. Use different colors for different characters.
-Subscribe to the thread so you know when somebody posts. Let's keep this thread alive!
-Post "Fast Food Madness" if you read the rules. VERY IMPORTANT if you want to join.

And now that I've sucessfully encouraged people to stay away from this roleplay, I suppose Forever Love and I will continue on with our random story. Sorry to anyone who actually stuck around and read that all. xP

I was bored, so I made some final fantasy avvys. I think they turned out alright, but I would like to know what other people think. And yes, I know they are quite simple.

    Relient K

OK, who doesn't like Relient K??? I've been a fan of theirs for a very long time. I have almost all of their cds. My favorite is MmHmm; I just think it has the best music, lyrics, and songs. My top two favorite songs by them are "Be My Escape" and "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been." But of course, I love a bunch of their other stuff too...like "Sadie Hawkins Dance" and "For the Moments I Feel Faint (AKA Never Underestimate My Jesus).

Anybody else a big fan like I am? xD

    Kingdom Hearts OneShot: Her Savior

Kairi stood at the casket of her best friend. Sora Hikari had been killed. The murderer didn’t want him around, since he was one of the best police officers in the country. But the assassination didn’t go exactly as planned; there had been a witness.

    Kairi.

Now the redhead teen was being watched over 24/7 by the FBI. She was the only one who could testify against that man. He had tried to kill her once, but he had failed. Now the best of the best were watching over her every move, making sure that she wasn’t in danger. Kairi’s body began to sag. The exhaustion was overwhelming. First her best friend had been killed, and now someone was after too. She was forced to stay away from her family, since it would be dangerous for them to be near her.

She shook her head, chasing away the thoughts. Today wasn’t a day where she should think about these things. Kairi put her hand on the casket and looked down at her friend. This wasn’t goodbye. It couldn’t be. He would remain in her heart forever.

“See you later, Sora.†The girl whispered in his ear. Kairi turned away and went to lean against one of the walls. She looked down to the floor. Footsteps approached her.

    “Are you alright?†Riku. Her guardian.

Riku was sent by the FBI to protect her. He was one of the best FBI agents in the country, even though he was only a few years older than Kairi. He was supposed to protect her at all costs, even if it cost him his life. Kairi shuddered at the idea. She hoped that would never happen. In the past few weeks, they had become very close friends...maybe even something more.

    “Riku, can we-â€

The window behind her shattered in an explosion of glass.

Kairi gasped when Riku tackled her to the ground. Her head bounced off the hard ground. Her ears rang at the sound of another bullet. She began to wheeze, realizing what danger she was in.

People around her screamed, falling to the ground for cover. Riku suddenly lift her up and carried her in his arms. He began running for the back exit.

Another bullet came through a window, inches away from them.

“Shooter in the south!†Roxas, another member from the FBI cried as he pulled out his pistol. He leaned against a wall near one of the shattered windows. “I can’t get a clear shot!â€

“Neither can I!†Namine shouted as she leaned against the wall a few feet away. The blonde cried out in pain when a bullet impacted her shoulder. She felt her body collapse to the ground.

“Namine!†Roxas ran over to her, ducking under the windows. He grabbed her hand and held on tight.

“I’m fine. Protect Kairi!†Namine slowly rose to her feet and began to run towards Riku and Kairi, who had stopped in one of the corners. Roxas nodded and ran towards them.

“We’ve got you covered. Go!†Roxas told Riku. Riku nodded and ran out the back door. It led to another hallway, filled with windows. If they delayed, then it was possible that the gunman could enter the church. Too much risk. Riku grabbed Kairi tighter and ran through the hall. The windows shattered behind them as they tried to escape.

Before Kairi realized what was happening, they had reached the end of the hall and gone into another room. It had no windows. Riku panted and set her down gingerly on her feet. Kairi was still trembling. This can’t be happening, she thought.

The room was empty except for a box at the other side of the room. It actually looked like a clock. No, wait, that wasn’t a clock...

“Bomb!†Riku shouted as he pulled Kairi out another door and ran through another empty hall. They were almost out of building. Just a little further...

    5...4...3...2...1

The bomb exploded, releasing a shockwave that knocked Kairi off her feet. But Riku was right there. He scooped her up from underneath and carried her, continuing to run. Riku kicked open the last door and threw Kairi inside the FBI truck. He climbed in after her and slammed the door shut. He tapped on the glass in front of them and signaled for the driver to leave.

No response. Riku looked up and saw another man up front, but it wasn’t an FBI member. Riku pulled out his pistol and shot through the glass window, his bullet penetrating the man’s skull. An imposter. More than one person was involved in this assassination attempt. Riku punched the wall in frustration. Now they were trapped. That’s probably what they had planned all along.

The 19 year old pulled out his radio and spoke into. “We have a 593! We need backup at location 009.â€

The radio made a static noise. “On our way.†A female voice came on. Namine. Riku put the radio back on his belt and silently motioned for Kairi to get in the back corner. The redhead nodded and obeyed, still shaking from head to toe. Riku couldn’t stand to see her like that, but there was nothing he could do at the moment. He stood in front of her with his gun pointed at the front of the van.

After a few minutes, the driver’s side door opened and Roxas appeared. Namine climbed in the other side. Namine looked back and gave Riku a thumbs up. Riku lowered his gun and nodded. Roxas turned on the vehicle and drove away.

Riku finally sat down on one of the seats and stared at Kairi in disbelief.

Someone was trying to kill her again. And this time, things were even more serious then before.

I read a book kind of like this and it was one of my favorite scenes, so I felt like doing KH oneshot like it. I know it’s not that long, but I hope that you enjoyed it anyway. Thoughts?

...okay, not really. I'm going away for a week and I won't have any internet access. So that means that I'm not going to be active in any of my roleplays for a week. And sorry "Saving Kairi" fans, but the next chapter is going to take even longer. Hopefully you won't go insane waiting for the next chapter xD.

I leave Sunday and I think I come back Saturday sometime. So, see you guys in a week =)

Let's say that a friend of yours has good news and bad news that she/he needs to tell you. Which would you rather hear first?

For me, I would rather hear the bad and then the good. I just have this thing where things need to have a happy (or happier) ending.

    What do you guys think?

    Darkness

This is something random that I wrote up really quickly. I know it's depressing, but I needed to express myself.

    Darkness
    Suffocating
    Choking
How long will the night last?
How long will my demons be able to torment me?
    They kick me.
    Beat me.
    Persecute me.
    When will it end?
How much longer can I survive?
    Not much longer, I’m sure.
    It’s too hard.
    Too painful.
    Too much.

Then the light comes through my window,
    Saving me from my tormentors.
    It's over. For now.
The light of day saves me temporarily.
    Until tonight.
The demons return with the darkness.
    It's a never ending cycle.
    Or so it seems.
Either way, it's just another night for me.

    FAST FOOD MADNESS

Organization XIII has given up on evil and now own and operate a Burger King in New York City. Across the street, Sora and a bunch of his friends work at a McDonalds that they somehow inherited. And next to that McDonalds is a Wendy’s where a bunch of other people from various worlds have been employed. The tension builds as the McDonalds brings in more customers than both the other stores. A rivalry has been formed between the 3 restaurants.

In the role-play, your characters work at their respectable restaurants and talk about topics such as the pickle crisis and the rivalry. Things can get pretty crazy.

    Rules:
    -No Yao/Yuri
    -Keep it PG-13
-No controlling other people’s characters. You can control your own customers though.
-Try to keep cursing to a minimum. If you must, try to use **** or !@#$

-Use proper writing. no txt wrtng, k??

*Drive Through Window Person- Works at the Drive Through Window. Must be cheerful and good at taking orders.

*Cashier- Runs the registers up front. Deals with customers and takes orders and such.
*Bus Boy- Cleans tables and throws away trash.
*Janitor- Cleans floors, restrooms, and anything else that needs cleaning.
*Mascot- Greets customers. Is in a costume (Ronald McDonald, The King, or that Wendy girl). They get teased a lot by fellow workers.

Just figured I'd post this in the spam zone and stuff.

So, when I go to view the videos on the user portal, none of the videos are loading. Is it just my computer or is it not working for anyone? And if it is my computer, does anybody know how I can fix it?

    Red

RED is my second favorite band right now. They are AMAZING! They remind me a lot of Skillet, mixing in some instrumental with hard rock. Even though they only have one cd out, it is so incredibly awesome and is one of the best I've ever heard. My favorite songs by them are Already Over, Let Go, Pieces, and Breathe Into Me.

    Anybody else love this group?

I think we should have an area specifically made for talking about tv shows. It doesn't really fit under the catogory of movies. Plus, I know that I want to post topics about TV shows but am not sure where to put them. I've seen them in the movie section lately. It would be less confusing for people if it had its own section.

Lately I have not been able to fall asleep. I'm tired, but I just lie in bed and stare at the ceiling for like, 45 minutes-1 hour. I used to be able to fall asleep in 5 minutes, but that was a long time ago, before some bad things started happening in my life. So now my mind races at night and I can't settle down and sleep for a long time. Does anybody have any tips on how I can sleep better?

Oh, and I also wake up in the middle of the night a few times each night. Anyone know any ways to stop that too? I'd be very greatful for some help here from all you nice folks on KH-vids.net =).
