Restarted the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. Its a goods series but people keep comparing it to twilight (Its closer to Buffy). Includes Hot headed impulsive strong competent main female character, vampires (Duh), evil vampires, plot and character development.
Villains and antagonists, sure some are sympathetic and who wouldn't want a heart, but as a group these guys went around trying to create both powerful heartless and nobodies and whenever a heart was freed they would capture it and add it to their Kingdom Hearts. Sure some were decent people and a lot where duped but that does not excuse the actions they took. Their actions were self motivated and selfish and they didn't care about the consequences to others, look at Beast.
“Well you didn’t give a straight answer” Alicia said to herself as the dream maker called them rude and such. She let out a soft sigh as she mumbled to herself about why she should just be quiet when her favourite book appeared, she was distrustful now with the bribe but decided to remain silent and make it look like she was enjoying her book as she followed everyone into the mansion. After the butler showed them around and told them where they could and could not go Alicia went to the girl’s bedroom and picked out a bed for herself, she laid down on her new bed and made it look like she was reading her book, but in truth was wondering how to figure out what was really going on, and seeing if the medicine she took before was connected ‘The Attic and Basement would be the best place to start’ she thought to herself ‘Better wait until everyone goes to sleep’ she added, she then paused and put her book down “Go to sleep in a dream world? Seems kind of redundant” she said quietly to herself.
Alicia awoke alongside everyone else, she had been hoping for a dreamless sleep but when she heard the strange voice singing the poem something just didn’t feel right to her. When she finally sat up they were no longer in the hospital but instead surrounded but semi-circle of trees, and the mansion on one side, everyone else who took the miracle pill was there as well so either something was going on or they had been lied to and this was a dream in a dreamless sleep. She then listened to the woman, the supposed Dream Maker, but before anyone had a chance to say anything she heard "GODDESS...THE GODDESS HAS FINALLY REVEALED HERSELF BEFORE US ALL AND HAS SHOWN HER GENEROSITY TO US ALL!" Alicia sighed at Laurence, if anyone was going to take this well it would be him, ‘if he is a figment of my imagination in this dream it’s pretty accurate’ she thought as she stood up. She considered trying to wake herself if it was a dream up but knew that any medication in her body would mostly likely be too strong to wake up to. She heard someone ask what is going on, she couldn’t remember what his name was, she thought I was Lyle or Kyle or something, she knew it had an ‘yle’ is it. “I wouldn’t bother asking a straight forward question like that, most likely you will be ignored or get a riddle, at least that’s what would happen in a book” Alicia said to the boy.

As the rocks quickly approached Sarah they changed direction slightly so they would miss her, it was a combination of her magic and the cold air (Which was also her magic) changing their trajectory a little. “You cannot beat me, not yet Kendric Stark” Sarah said calmly as she took a few steps back and forming the last section of the wall behind her. For a few seconds nothing happened until a small air current started pulling all the breathable air up but not letting any come down, Kendric only had a few minutes until he was trapped in a vacuum, her plan wasn’t to kill him, just leave him near death for the time being. Alastair did a half-hearted wave good bye to his companions without turning to face them and turned a corner, once he turned that corner he looked back slightly just to make sure the others weren’t following. “Good” he said to himself as he started to run, he kept to back-alleyways to avoid police and in almost now time he reached a police checkpoint, except both of the police were dead, Alastair took the chance to scavenge for extra ammo for his gun and then continued.
“Funny that you would demand that I surrender, when your chances of living lowers with every second that you keep that stone from me, you have nothing to negotiate with except that stone, you can’t even sell out your friends since someone already beat you to it” Sarah said calmly as she drew her sword, around Kendric and Sarah a wall of rock formed from magic surrounding them leaving the only way out behind Sarah “You must see, you can’t win Kendric Stark, your lives are meaningless, worthless. Not even my own child’s life means anything, now give me the stone or I will make you give it to me, painfully” Alastair stopped to listen to Xane “I am glad you have such faith in my leadership abilities and think the others see me as a leader, but if you are going to reach the ruins then you can’t be weighed down by me. If you need someone to take charge you can take charge, I have given you information, supplies and even a plan Xane, it’s up to you guys to use them or not. Besides there might be a chance the one who is releasing all that energy is my mother, if so I am going to kill her, after some answers” Alastair finished speaking and stepped around Xane and continued walking towards the source of the energy.
Hey Mixt it’s been awhile. Unfortunately I have no advice on how to deal with your home situation with your parents because we are in very similar situations. But in regards to your sleeping issues (If you can even call them that, I say your just a long sleeper like me) and the possibility of depression I just want to say be careful, as someone who has suffered major depression and has a risk of relapsing into it, depression can creep up on you, you and people may not realise so be careful. And like Damon Salvatore said it is always good to vent (Not violently) with either a thread (I wrote one) or talking to someone, you can vent to me seeing as I can take it and know what you’re going through.
My sympathies to the family. I also believe they deserve life imprisonment, they didn't even have a reason to kill, I wouldn't justify it even if they did but I would understand if it was revenge or something, but boredom? In a case like this age is irrelevant. If they can shoot someone out of boredom what about when they get angry?
A dark blue aura eclipsed Kendric’s aura as Sarah turned the final corner, she saw a house in front of her as well as one of the students, behind it was where the power had been originating but now it had jumped right in front of her. At the same time she turned the corner a police car entered the street on the opposite side, in response she raised her hand and formed a white fire ball, the temperature of the flame was so intense that metal nearby her was warped and the road directly under the ball melted. She also used her magic to stop the heat from the fire ball from affecting her since that would be counterproductive. Sarah launched the fire ball at the police car, everything it passed was affected by it, the road melted, metal warped and Kendric was lightly burned as it passed him despite there being several metres between him and the ball. The car didn’t stand a chance as it was caught in the ball and set on fire, after a few seconds the fuel in the car ignited causing it to explode. The blue aura did not vanish, the air in the street started to quickly cool down as soon as she walked calmly towards Kendric. “It is times you surrendered” she said coldly “You are hopelessly outclassed” Alastair was at the back door ready to go, Xane had already gone out the backdoor “Alright guy le-” Alastair stopped speaking as he sensed someone somewhere release their power, soon that power was eclipsed by another power, it wasn’t far from where they were. Whoever it was they were about to throw down, hard, ‘Maybe I should go help’ Alastair thought to himself ‘No, we have to get out of the city, that is the plan. ‘These guys know the plan, you have given them information and supplies, they can get out on their own, but whoever that is could use help and if they survived that would be one more person who can escape’ The battle inside Alastair’s mind continued for a few more seconds as he clenched his fists and bit his lower lip in frustration. Eventually the battle was over Alastair made his choice “You guys go on, you know what to do” he said picked up two supply packs and he walked out of the house and towards the two raised power levels ‘This is a stupid idea’ he added to himself.
“I maintain this is all Nadine’s fault” Sarah complained to herself as she cleaned the blade of her sword in the Everette living room that was filled with dead police sent to investigate the house, apart from the two who had been guarding the front door to the house they all showed signs of asphyxiation “What a waste” she added as she inspected the corpse of the man living in the house, she was going to torture him to get any info from him but he got caught up in her air magic when she sucked the oxygen out of everyone’s lungs and throats. It was their own fault she came asking questions, the two out front tried to stop her, she lobbed off their heads with her sword and the rest went to attack, so she wiped them out quickly before anyone could sense her magic. She was about to leave and head back to her compatriots when she felt a release of energy not far from her “Great here we go again” she mumbled as she started walking towards the source ‘If it’s the police wasting my time I will kill them, but if it’s the students I will probably only kill a few, unless they refuse to run’ she thought to herself. As she approached police officers on patrol blocked her off, one of them saying something about it being dangerous and she should go home. He didn’t even finish speaking when the other officer suddenly drew his gun, his hand shacking as Sarah’s magical energy was released to absurd levels. The officer screamed in pain as his body moved on its own and shot his partner in the back of the head before turning the gun on himself and committing suicide. Sarah’s magical energy dropped as the police officer’s dead body hit the ground and Sarah continued walking unfazed by the event, she was only three minutes from reaching the source.
Alastair smiled as the girl walked past him "Interesting" he said to himself as he stood there for a few second before following the girl. She released the teenager "Sneaky" he said as he whistled to get all of the vampires attention "Hey children, I hate to break up your fight, but a human is stealing your dinner, you best get onto that" He said casually for the vampires to hear, it was all test on the girl, if she ran he would leave her to her fate, but if she held her ground then maybe he might keep her alive.
“You two are under the impression that these are explosive, they aren’t, they are incendiary, no loud bangs like a grenade just burning once the glass breaks” Alastair said packing up the remaining bombs “Simply light the cloth and throw Poke, once it makes impact with something it breaks and the liquid ignites and spreads, no visible smoke, no bang and no shockwave, but hit someone and you will kill them and it will also burn vehicles, unfortunately it won’t destroy them unless it hits their fuel” Alastair said putting the last one in a pack “But if you don’t want to use them fine, I will” Alastair said shouldering one pack and carrying the spare by hand. His leg was better and they seemed ready, but when Poke looked around then mumbled “...Must've been my imagination…” to himself Alastair immediately upholstered his gun, it was better to be prepared then dismiss anything, Poke seemed to have a similar idea seeing as he rested one hand on one of his sword handles “I think it’s time to go guys, go to the back door” Alastair said with caution as he went to a window to inspect the street, all the police that had been there earlier were gone.
“Using magic gives our position away and exhausts us Xane, the only thing saving us is the fact they can’t sense it, it’s not sensing on the short scale but sensing on a large scale. If we get into a fight the people in the immediate vicinity will know where we are, say a patrol, eliminate them and without letting them broadcast over any form of communication then we remain hidden until they miss their next check in, but if we use our magic in a fight then everyone will know where we are, including the people trying to hunt us down.” Alastair stopped himself from continuing, he was trying to give orders when it wasn’t his place, he cleared “Look Xane, I can’t stop you from using magic but I am telling you it is a bad idea, don’t use the bombs if you don’t want to, but don’t use magic” Alastair looked to Poke and listened to what he said “We can’t worry about the other groups, though I am sure our numbers have decreased over the night the point of splitting up was to make smaller groups that could act independently of each other, at least that was my plan” Alastair said he then spoke to the group as a whole “Okay I suggest we head south out of the city and then circle around to the ruins, if by some chance the enemy have captured our allies then they could know which direction we would go, meaning we should take the most indirect way there. If they don’t know security should be spread pretty evenly throughout the city”
“I would stop if I were you, this is a hunting ground right now and these ludo are very territorial” someone said to Sequorra as she arrived on the other side of the barrier. A young man in noble looking clothes wearing a fine travelling cloak stood in front of her, a fancy rapier hung on his belt sheathed in an expensive scabbard, he hadn’t been standing there a minute ago because he had been on watching the ludo squabble like children, when he sensed the human he decided to send her away, this was vampire business. “You heard what that Ludo said, it’s dangerous” he finished walking towards her “Why would you risk your life for someone you don’t know? You seem like a well-travelled young woman, you must know what lurks in the darkness, why would you be willing to jump right in here?” he asked calmly.
“Yeah, you guys should get ready soon” Alastair said to Berial and Lucas “I have spent the morning preparing survival pack for the desert, 6 packs filled with water and warm clothes” Alastair said indicating the two bags near the brothers “I also did some scouting before dawn, the police have sealed the city so most likely we will have to fight our way out, but we can’t risk using our magic, it would be like a beacon and the enemy would be lured to our presence. So I did an inventory of the supplies of this house and found twenty seven bottles of expensive and highly flammable alcohol upstairs, along with clothes and a few lighters, so I made incendiary bombs with them, just light the wick on top throw it at the enemy and let them burn” Alastair explained as he went into the kitchen and brought out twenty seven homemade bombs and lighters “Rely on these and your weapons over your magic for as long as you can”
