Heathers. Pretty damn dark movie. I liked it, though. You can't go wrong with Winona Ryder.

Yeah, Luna, I don't think anyone gets that channel, haha.

Kasey, that is essentially correct, but it is also true of many other series that can be excellent regardless (see: Star Wars). The implication that its job as a toy advertisement undermines its potential as a good cartoon is pretty unfair in my opinion — Lauren Faust has to concede some things, sure, but she does a great job overall. If there is something specific you have against the show's execution, I would be glad to hear it, but this criticism doesn't really address the quality of the show.

One of the benefits of their basing their business model on selling merchandise, is that they don't seem to care that the episodes are all over YouTube. Oddly enough, Hasbro seems to not be taking much advantage of the toy potential, and offers very few FiM toys (and the ones that exist are often inaccurate or very difficult to find).

Edit: Anyone want to see my pony collection?

Interesting comparison. If only FiM would air on an ordinary channel like TMNT, then I would be one happy pony.

That is understandable. I've not much exposure to the older series, but the little I've had makes me think the new series has very little in common with it, other than the name and a few characters.

The art is what initially piqued my interest, and it's what kept me watching after the first episode.

*Shrug* if nothing else, it's convenient to consider it a Tim Burton film because it's stylistically similar to everything he's done and he was involved in it.

I haven't seen Vincent, either. Or Ed Wood. Maybe I should catch up on my Burton stuff.

Pumpkin, you win cool points for recognizing me as Pineapple.

Saxima, I must regretfully inform you that I am indeed an anarchist. I am not really interested in pubic discussion of it, though, so you will be spared any tirades you dirty statist.

Roxasvsriku, I feared it might be, and I will resize it in a moment.

Te Deum, well, they were talking about it and I was bored so I decided I would join. It makes me seem more important if they sent me, though.

You know, I have trouble with this because my favorites are from all over the place and it seems odd for me to compare them to each other. Here's what I'm going to choose, though: The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle. I choose that because it's such a great example of what I think fantasy should be: accessible to all ages; evocative of a pure sort of slippery, indescribable sensation of magic — like when you watch Star Wars for the first time; the sort of book you can read over and over without tiring; I could go on. It's such a wonderful novel — buy it, read it, give it to a kid who doesn't like to read, then buy another one. Oh, and steer clear of the movie unless you watched it as a child and have a strong sense of nostalgia — it doesn't do justice to the book at all.

Gonna have to go with Edward Scissorhands on this one. Close behind would be Bettlejuice and Nightmare Before Christmas. But, I haven't seen Sweeney Todd yet.

The first episode is one of the weakest — if you just want to watch a single episode, I say go for seven.
