If set up right being the key words. A first time player ho doesn't have a strategy guide will get torn apart by this guy, as the strategies you've used up to that point do not work on him. Period.

    Another:

Ganondorf - Wind Waker - Though some may have not appreciated Wind Waker's departure in terms of its style, Windwaker knew a thing or two about Epic boss fights. Every boss had its own unique charm to it, and most were difficult enough to figure out that you would end up expending a life or two to beat it, but not much compared to the final fight with Ganondorf. The build-up to the fight was nothing spectacular, fighting a pig balloon resembling Ganon, but the actual fight with Ganondorf himself was fantastic. In an area with water threatening to crush in on you from every side at any moment, truly aomospheric music, and a hulking beast of a man towering over little Link, You felt overwhelmed to say the least. The match opens with a straght up swordfight, punishing you for poor timing, albeit friendly enough that you can get it done. After a few rounds of this, Zelda actually does something in a fight! Shooting light arrows at you to reflect back at Ganondorf, Zelda made for an interesting twist in how the fight played out. I still get chills everytime I face the cel-shaded Ganondorf, maybe even more than when facing the Twilight Princess Version.

Wiegraf Folles - Final Fantasy Tactics - While this boss fight is only half way through the game itself, it stands out in my mind against many of the amazing battles as the single hardest, and single coolest. Wiegraf has sold his soul to the Aries Zodiac Stone, and Ramza must confront him alone. Wiegraf chooses not to transofrm as the battle begins, and Ramza suddenly finds himself facing off against a person of far superior strength if you have not been taking a lot of time out to train Ramza up in certain areas. The first playthroug of this game, I got stuck here by saving over my file before this fight, unable to beat him, and had to restart the entire game. Wiegraf is still a challenge even when you train Ramza to be a duel wielding ninja with excellent weaponry. And when you finally take him down, he transforms into the monstrous Belias and summons demons to his aid as your party arrives on the scene. One hell of a fight.

Jecht - Final Fantasy X - Though not the hardest boss in the game (At least if you've taken the time to get a few legendary weapons and track down all of the Aeons) Jecht does not pull any punches in the coolness department, and makes the true final boss of the game, Yu Yevon, seem like a complete wuss. Turning into his Final Aeon form, Jecht soars over you in size, easily bigger than a modern day skyscraper, with a sword thats almst as big as he is. The music in the bakcground is hard-rock, and drives the battle forward, even as you tear him apart to march towards one of the greatest endings in any video game ever seen.

The First Darkside - Kingdom Hearts - Yes its a wuss once you actually fight it. Yes it essentially becomes a normal enemy late in the game. But the first time you ever fight a darkside. That first look, with Sora crining in fear, then nearly falling off the edge of the platform into nothingness as it towers over you, you can't help but feel a sense of wonderment and fear. For this alone, I'd rankthis guy up there, not for staying power, but for first impressions.

Andross - Star Fox 64 - When you finally fight through the entire Lylat System, and reach Andross's lair, the fight that ensues is frustrating and gripping, requiring excellent timing and good use of all the skills you have learned up to that point. But even as Andross explodes, the fight is far from over. The Arwing Switches into all-range mode as you prepare to take on Andross's smart-ass brain, which doesn't skimp on the danger. To this day, I get a feeling of excitement and worry from his attacks, especially his eyeballs attached to him by electricity, and his annoying ability to pop up right in front of you with ihs teleportation ability. I would even consider the flight out of the base part of this boss fight, keeping you white-knuckled to the control all the way to the dramatic conclusion with James McCloud flying away.

And that's all I've got for now guys ^^

I'd like to introduce you to the word paraphrasing.

I have not posted on this forum in like a month or two, and the sheer idiocy of the comment "It hardly has the same wording." made me. I have no problem with you doing the same thing as Spank, but own up to the fact that you are doing it, otherwise people won't respect it.

    Twi over and out.

In regards to the 2006, if you check the previous date (1988) that makes him around 18-19, and he began his journey when he was 14. That means he has been fighting heartless straight for 4-5 years, and I'm sorry, but fighting monsters on a daily basis for that long would cause someone to snap. This is an AU fic remember. So no, I don't think that it is to soon, in fact, I think it may have been to long o.o

Ok, me and Locke&Kefka played through the ENTIRE storyline of Dirge of Cerberus last night, and we had multiple cheap laughs at this games expense. Now it's time to share those feelings with you through fanart and captions!!!

A truer statement has there never been. When you are listening to Hojo prattle on at 4 in the morning, this is EXACTLY what you want to do.

    Ok, this is Vincent Valentine and Shelke Kissing. Now I'm going to tell you why this is very very disturbing. Vincent is 30. Shlelke is a 19 year old trapped in a 10 year old's body. this doesn't happen in the game, but it is insinuated. Vincent is a total Pedo -.-;;

This is Weiss the Immaculate (It's pronounced Vise. His name is German, and all of his followers say Hail Weiss! Go Figure >>) Weiss is dead. You find this out at the end of the game after you have been searching for him the entire game. Then he is resurrected with the mind of a deranged Doctor named Hojo and Infused with the power of a weapon named Omega which is supposed to bring about the end of all life. Yes this is as ridiculous as it sounds.

    This is Shalua. She is a scientist. Shalua doesn't have an eye, and her left arm is robotic. Her normal attire is three random strips of cloth held by random piees of cloth with a lab coat. This is a trend in this game. No women are fully clothed. It was like a bad FF Soft-core Porn -.-;;

And that is all the time I have for today folks! I hope you enjoyed laughing at the ridiculous of this game as much as I did!

    And remember: "Wutai Pest!"

Well, it is going around that there is going to be 1 or 2 more third party characters beside Solid Snake in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and I'm curious who you all would like to see. No Poll cause I want to hear all opinions and responses.

The only rule for the third party characters is they have to have appeared on a Nintendo system at some point.

I heard a rumor (From DA) that apparently, A KH character is a *possible* inclusion, and if they were, it would obviously be Sora. I think this would be a great idea, as the art style would transition smoothly into Super Smash Bros. And being able to have a heartless as a possible item amuses me XD

Apparently the most called for Third Party Character is Sonic, which I think could definitly be likely, epecially since he has mostly appeared on nintendo systems since Sega went to other consoles. I think it would be cool if they did his character ala Ice Climbers and had Tails follow you around everywhere. (I'd enjoy killing Tails in SSBB as much as I did in Sonic 2 >D)

Another character I think would be a likely inclusion is Megaman, as he has pretty much always been on Nintendo, and he got his start there. I think he would incorporate well into the universe, and they could give him a wide array of attacks.

So, what are all your opinions? I'm curious as to who you all would like to see, and who you think will be in it. These are two seperate things remember. Also remember that the character has to have appeared on a Nintendo console at some point in their life.

Alright, well, I'm in a good place to comment on this game, because a friend of mine and myself sat down yesterday, said, "Hey, let's go rent and beat Dirge of Cerberus in one night!" and then preceeded to stay up til 5 in the morning beating said game.

This is a rental only game. Had I bought this, I would have been dissapointed. I am not saying I disliked the game, far from it in fact, but the fact is, my friend and I sat down and beat the entire game in one sitting, and I have no strong desire to pick it up and start playing it again.

The combat itself is dodgy, and takes the first few levels to get used to, but one thing I really liked was that the game scaled nicely. The first few levels where you are unsure of the controls are incredibly easy, with potions and pheonix downs dropping everywhere, but as you progress through the game, it becomes harder at a good rate, I never felt overwhelemed as I continued to improve, and felt it was a good level of difficulty (My friend and I had a bunch of close calls we were laughing at.) The bosses ranged from dissapointing to superb. The first Azul fight is ridiculously easy to the point of being a ****ty fight, but the second time you fight him, (and the other members of the Tsviets) is actually an amusing fight, and makes you feel smart for figuring out how to beat him. The final boss was a let down, my friend fought him, and didn't even receive damage from the boss until after he had gotten his health over halfway down.

Character-wise, me and my friend tore the crumby NPC VOing apart, as it gets REALLY annoying, as does Cait Sith's Irish Accent. I still have NO clue why he has an Irish accent, and the one stealth mission you play as Cait Sith is the most annoying and shoddily built level in the game. The AI in this level in particular (though its bad in the whole game) was ridiculous, and it was painful and easy at the same time.

I actually found myself liking Shelke and some of the Tsviets, though I must say Rosso's russian accent got REALLY annoying (Wutai Pest! You have to hear this line, it made me die of laughter XD) but overall, I thought they were decently developed, at least to the extent I found myself liking them. What I hated is that Nero and Weiss are not developed AT ALL and when you get to the end, its like they expect you to have a deep understanding of these two characters, which is impossible as you only see each one in a single cutscene up until the points you fight them.

The FF Cast was well voiced, and I thought they captured Yuffie and Vincent particularily well. I found myself chuckling at Yuffie, and geting into Vincent's dark exterior. They really developed Vincent's character, and that for me was enough to warrant playing this game.

The storyline was somewhat hard to follow at times, but if you stick it out to the end, it really does make sense, and does pull a LOT of loose ends together. Basically you find out that Hojo is the reason EVERYTHING bad happens in EVERY FF7 game. I got annoyed with everyone saying I'm sorry all the time, and I swear to God, the women in this game need to put some god damn clothes on >> EVERY SINGLE FEMALE SAVE LUCRECIA WAS HALF NAKED! That is annoying, and me and my friend reamed it repeatedly, especially in Edge. (Got what a crappy name for a town -.-;; )

Overall, I enjoyed playing this game, but I would recommend doing what I did, renting it with a friend and sitting down and beating it for the storyline, just don't go into it expecting the game of the year, or even a top tier game for that matter. If you go in with the expectation of getting a few cheap laughs, and that you get a decent storyline which ties things together, then you'll get enjoyment out of it. I'd give it a 7.75 out of 10, as it wasn't a bad game, I did have fun, but it isn't something I'll probably ever play again.

I'm glad you asked about the Sora falling to Darkness thing Rikusgirl. ^^

To me, I think after a half a decade straight of doing nothing but killing heartless and villians, it would leave someone very cold-hearted, as I said with Riku who was no longer able to show his emotions. (PS I also think that a heartless dying is a lot more gruesome than the game shows. Creatures don't just poof automatically. I think they bleed just like other creatures, and that it is kind of a sickening thing when they do.) So after so long of this, it kind of breaks a man, and I think Sora just hit his breaking point, which is why he gave in to darkness. I think Riku was able to last longer because he had already fallen to darkness once and come out of it, so he was able to understand what could happen. Sora never had, and in the end, he fell to the fact he just couldn't take it anymore. So, while It's something I don't think they would explore within the actual KH series, I view it as something that could definitly happen, as it delves into the psychosis of someone who simply put, hit their breaking point, and wanted to be able to keep on living, no matter the cost.

Author's Note: Well, I decided to give this Story of the Week thing a go ahead. Who knows how I'll do, but let's give it a shot.

This story is a songfic based around the song "Soldier Side" by System of a Down, one of my favorite bands. The song fits the mood of the story as well as enhance it in my opinion (Since I built the story around the song.) Have fun reading it to all who give it a gander. And I'll move it into the regular story section after the competition.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A tear rolled down Kairi’s cheek as she ran her hand over the rough texture of a tombstone. It was the color of granite, firm and strong. The tiny obelisk was lavishly decorated with a picture of two angels, one playing a french horn, one playing a trumpet. She ran her fingers over these pictures, then traced out the words “A Dearly Departed Friend and Sonâ€. Tears came hasrder as she drew her hand away from the final wording on the tombstone, the word’s seeming painful to touch.

    Sora
    1988-2006

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dead men lying on the bottom of their graves
    Wondering when Savior comes
    Is he gonna be saved
Maybe you’re a sinner into your alternate life
    Maybe you’re a joker
    Maybe you deserved to die.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tears fell freely from her eyes now as she curled up, her chest almost touching her knees as she knelt on the ground. She raised her fist and brought it down hard on the soft ground over Sora’s empty grave, the mud making a squishing sound as it swallowed up a bit of her hand. News of Sora’s death had reached them weeks ago, but there had never been a body recovered.

“Couldn’t even give him a decent funeral…†she sobbed quietly, not noticing the new presence as it moved up beside her.

“Kairi…come home. It’s been two days now…†Riku knelt down beside the crying girl, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. She leaned into him as she started sobbing softer, his cool resolve seeming to freeze her emotions in place. She brought her eyes up to meet the man who was dressed entirely in black, showing in his own way the feelings he couldn’t express. Half a decade of fighting had made him cold to the world, but even he felt the loss of his close friend.

“I miss him too, Kai, but weeping here at his tombstone and wasting away to nothing isn’t going to bring him back, and it certainly isn’t how he’d want you to live your life,†Kairi turned her head back to the tombstone, staring at the angels again as she nodded solemnly. Riku helped her stand up, then wrapped his arms around her and began to lead her away. She threw a glance back towards the grave, seeing a smiling sxteen year old boy waving at her, only to disappear as she blinked her eyes. She pressed her face against Riku’s chest as the two walked out of the graveyard towards Riku’s home.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They were crying when their sons left
    God is wearing black
He’s gone so far to find no hope
    He’s never coming back
They were crying when their sons left
    All young men must go
He’s come so far to find no truth
    He’s never going home.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Riku opened the door to his house, walking in with one arm draped around Kairi, the other stuffing his keys into his pocket, then pulling the door shut behind them. He lead her through the short entrance hallway and into his living room, plopping Kairi down onto his couch.

“I’m going to get us something warm to drink,†Riku said, bending over to look in Kairi’s face and smiling hopefully at her. She nodded weakly as she stared at the wall, her eyes distant and empty. Riku sighed and stood up, heading off toward his kitchen.

Kairi continued to stare out the window, her mind racing so fast she couldn’t pin any thoughts down. She felt numb, just as she always did around the silver-haired knight. He seemed to absorb her hurt into himself, and she felt as though it was possible to continue on whenever he was around. She put her forehead into her hands and tried to cry, but tears would not come. They seemed to have dried up on the walk over.

“Here you go,†Riku handed her a coffee mug filled with hot cocoa as he sat down, steam rising from the surface of the fresh drink. “I made it with milk the way you like it,†Riku said, chuckling nervously.

“Thank you…†Kairi spoke softly, her voice barely above a whisper. She sipped on the drink, the sensation of it burning refreshing her as it ran over her tongue and down her throat. She chuckled without thinking. “It’s hot.â€

“That’s the general idea behind hot cocoa,†Riku said as he sat his cup down. “Though it could probably stand to be a bit cooler.â€

“Yeah,†Kairi sat her cup down as well, next to Riku’s own mug. The two sat in silence for a moment before Riku attempted to break the silence.

“Kai…I know yo—†Riku’s sentence was cut short as Kairi placed her hand on his leg and preseed her lips against his. As she moved her face away, Riku stared at her in surprise. Afraid she had upset him, Kairi turned away and blushed, feeling foolish for what she had just done. Undaunted, Riku grabbed her chin and brought her face back to meet his own, pressing his lips against hers.

Kairi wrapped her arms around Riku’s torso and pressed into him, lying on top of him as the two began to kiss passionately. He rubbed his hands on her back as they adjusted to laying beside one another, Riku’s back facing off the couch so that Kairi wouldn’t fall off. Pulling away from the kiss, Riku stared into Kairi’s eyes.

“Is this what you want?†He looked into Kairi’s eyes as he brought a hand up to rub along the side of her face.

“I just want to forget…†Kairi said, pressing her lips to Riku’s neck. He ran his fingers through her hair, a bittersweet look on his face. He had Kairi in his arms, but he couldn’t help but feel like this should never have come to pass as the two began to kiss again, grabbing at one another in desperate longing.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Young men standing on the top of their own graves
    Wondering when Jesus comes
    Are they gonna be saved
    Cruelty to the winner,
Bishop tells the king his lies
    Maybe you’re a mourner
    Maybe you deserve to die.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kairi awoke to find herself still in Riku’s arms. His chest was bare as was hers, the two laying on the couch, having fallen asleep in one another’s arms after having decided to stop before going to far. Looking around, Kairi found her shirt lying near the couch. Turning back to Riku, she brushed some of his long hair out of the way and kissed his forehead before lifting up her arm to slip out of his grasp. Riku grunted but didn’t wake up as Kairi slid her shirt back on, looking at the silver-haired soldier once more before slipping out of Riku’s front door and into the night.

The air was frigid and biting tonight, the wind raising up over the ocean next to the small town, blowing through her clothing with ease, causing Kairi to grab at her sides as she tried to warm herself up. She had no real destination in mind even though she knew she should be heading home, but she allowed her feet to guide her as she moved through the streets. Before she realized where she was going, she found herself back in the graveyard, moving towards an empty grave.

The hurt started coming back with every step, each one seeming to shoot pain up her spine as she began to think once more of Sora and how he was never going to return.

“Even if he did,†she muttered to herself, “I couldn’t let him be my first kiss anymore.†Kairi was grateful to Riku. He had had no qualms about stopping where they did, agreeing it was in both of their interests not to go any further than they had. She had never even been kissed before, and she didn’t want to bypass everything in one night.

Looking up, she tried to find the familiar sight of Sora’s headstone. She wanted to see it gain, maybe even fall asleep out here as she had done the two nights prior. Riku would be hurt, but she truly didn’t care. Her heart and mind were being torn violently in two different directions.

As she neared the grave, she realized there was already someone there. The figure wore a dark black cloak that made him nearly invisible in the low lighting of the graveyard. He stood staring down at the gravesite, not noticing Kairi approach. She could hear the man chuckling, but it was a sad and heartbroken tone. The figure turned in surprise as Kairi’s foot crushed a twig underneath a tree, her anger and rage starting to overtake her.

Who would Laugh at this? At Sora’s death, at his grave?! This is my spot!

“Who are you?†Kairi challenged, daring the figure to speak. The visage turned away, the dark making it impossible to discern any type of features hidden underneath the hood of his cloak.

“Someone who has given in to the dark,†A familiar tone radiated from the cloack, but it seemed twisted and worn out. Kairi could still tell who it was though. She could never forget the sound of that voice.

    “Sora?!â€

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They were crying when their sons left
    God is wearing black
He’s gone so far to find no hope
    He’s never coming back
They were crying when their sons left
    All young me must go
He’s come so far to find no truth
    He’s never going home.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I’m sorry, Kai…You weren’t supposed to find me,†the boy peeled off his hood, exposing the face beneath. His long messy hair had been cut short, a large scar cutting across his left cheek as well. One of his eyes was the same penetrating blue it had always been, but the other was blood red. Both his eyes reflected a hard heartedness she had never seen in them before.

“Sora, what happened?†She approached the boy with her hand outstretched to stroke the side of his face, but he stepped away from her, looking towards the ground.

“I fell to darkness, Kai…I’m not even supposed to be here. I turned on and attacked Riku, but he defeated me. I told him to leave me and watch over you, and as a last request he swore he would. I even tried to take my own life, but I was to weak to even do that…†Sora closed his eyes and turned back to the headstone. “At least here I’m dead and remembered as I was…â€

Kairi shooke her head fiercely as Sora turned back around to her. She stared into his eyes, a light shining forth that hadn’t been present since the day she had received word of Sora’s death. Seeing it, Sora smiled.

“There’s the light. I’d forgotten where to look,†Sora snapped his fingers and a dark cloud of smoke began to appear around his body, swallowing him up and disappearing, Sora missing as well. Kairi dove at the smoke, but grasped only air as she landed with a wet thud and skidded into his gravestone.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Welcome to the Soldier Side
Where there’s no one here but me
People al grow up to die
There is no one here but me.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tears fell freely from Kairi’s eyes once again as she heaved and sobbed, ignoring the wound that was bleeding on her back from the collision with the stone. He was alive, but he no longer cared for her. She couldn’t take it. She tried to think of any way to end everything, a way to escape this wretched existence.

“If you forgot where to look why didn’t you just ask for help you ***!†Kairi screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice shrill and cracking as her rage began to take over her once more.

Atop a nearby building, Sora listened to Kairi cry, but he didn’t shed a single tear for the girl. He felt like the monster he was, because he knew worse than anything, that it wasn’t that he hated Kairi or Riku. Hate was as powerful and passionate an emotion as love. What he felt was total indifference, the true opposite of love. He didn’t care what happened to Kairi now, whether she lived or died. He was hollow, but he was alive.

“Goodbye, Kairi,†Sora snapped his fingers again and disappeared. He didn’t know his destination, all he knew was he would keep on living in this empty existence, never knowing how to care again.

Elsewhere, Riku sat alone on the couch, his head in his hands. He knew in his heart right where Kairi had gone, he didn’t need to go find her to prove that. He knew all along shecould never care for him as she had Sora, and allowing himself to believe that this wasn’t true only made the loneliness worse.

“Sora…why’d it have to turn out like this? Weren’t you the one who followed your heart? I used to want to be you…â€

    In a word: Phenomenal.

Truly a work of art, a great piece. I found myself wanting it to be even longer, as there were parts I wanted to read through your own interpretation, but such is life. This was a truly awe-inspiring and enveloping work of fan-fiction, one of the best I have ever read. Namine is such a great character to work with, and I loved your interpretation of the events that transpired throughout her "life". Great work, and keep it up.
