Hello everyone, First, we'd like to apologise for the short notice regarding the downtime and the longer than expected transfer period. We ran into some complications during the move that made the process take a bit longer than we anticipated. With that out of the way though, I am pleased to announce that the move to our new server was successful and that you should start noticing a number of improvements on the site from here on out. Some of these will include: - Receiving all notification emails from the site, without having to look through your spam folder. - Being able to access the site from more connections, such as mobile data and work or school connections. - Faster site navigation. - Faster search functionality. This server is also more affordable than our previous setup, so there will be more room to pay for other site improvements such as addons. Hopefully the effects of this will be visible in the near future. Hello everyone! So I'm sure many of you have been wondering exactly what it is that we've been talking about releasing over the past few days, and the time has finally come for us to reveal it! View attachment 46372 Before I go in to the specifics of this new addition to the site, I want to give a bit of background to help you all understand how this came about. Since the site was purchased by myself and various other staff members back in July of 2016, we've been discussing and working towards ways that we can raise funds to keep the site running. Like most other websites, we have been utilizing Google AdSense to earn revenue from ads placed on the site. We think that thus far we have implemented this in a fair and unintrusive way and are mostly happy with the results, but unfortunately it is likely that we won't be able to support the site in to the coming year on AdSense revenue alone. We deliberated a lot as a staff team about what would be the best way to raise extra funds in a way that would give back to our user base, and we think that this is the best way to do that. We have created a new usergroup which we are calling "Contributor". This usergroup is available to all members on the site, regardless of join date or post count, that pay a small monetary contribution towards the site. Subscriptions are offered in two payment plans, one plan for $4.99 per 6 months and one for $8.99 per year. The Contributor usergroup will function similar to Premium, but will have many more benefits, which are outlined below: Your own section to spend time in. Here, you'll be able to post ideas and suggestions about how you think our site should be run from an administrative perspective. Advertisements completely removed. Priority in community events, such as the podcast and streams. Chance to beta test new site features, including skins, one of which is available now. A special pin for becoming a contributor. The ability to upload larger avatars (1MB) and have three images in your signature. Be given a special rank on our Minecraft server (coming soon). More details will come with the release of the server. Some Premium Member perks. Many more to come. We want to make it very clear that both regular and Premium members won't be losing any features and should feel no obligation to become a Contributor if they can't or don't feel the need to. We will be working in the near future on more advancements for regular and Premium members, including a possible color change if interest persists, and we will make an effort to include you all in community events despite Contributors taking priority. Since our purchase of the site, and even back when things were out of hand, we saw an immense amount of support from you guys, and your love and dedication towards the site was made very apparent. We can't describe how much your support means to us and we wouldn't be able to run this site without you. To celebrate the launch of the Contributor user group and a new era for KH-Vids, we'll be offering a launch deal on the 1 year subscription for $7. This deal will only be available until March 13th, so make sure to get it while you can. I got a code for Gears of War 4 on PC when I bought an NVIDIA graphics card. You activate it though NVIDIA's website then they email you a code for the Windows Store. First person to PM me gets the code.
So I got 3 codes for the Shiny Xernes event thing for Pokémon X/Y/OR/AS when they came out in Ireland about 2 weeks ago. I gave one to a friend, used one myself, and have a 3rd one to giveaway. Only problem is, when I scratched off the silver scratchy thing, some of the code got ripped so its kinda hard to make out. You can see pretty much all of it except 2 or 3 letters so you'll have to try and work it out. The code works on UK and Ireland consoles definitely, and I'm pretty sure it works on other Euro consoles (Including AUS and NZ). As far as I know, it doesn't work on any other consoles (NA/SA, Japan, China, Korea, etc) but you can still have it if you want. Spoiler: code as far as I can work out, the code is E64AR?X??4FFEY7D. Pretty sure it definitely starts with E64AR as the 2 other codes I got did. First person to figure it out gets the code.
Hi all, Well, as you can see, a lot has happened since Saturday. And you're probably (understandably) wondering what exactly is going to happen now. The short answer is that the 'crisis' is over. But it's only fair to give everyone the long answer too. After internal disputes leaking from the staff into the public, and the subsequent departures of many beloved community members -- as well as the removal or resignation of nearly the entire staff team -- our (now former) owner Blaine agreed to negotiate with several users regarding the sale of the site. That sale was finalized today. The money to purchase KH-Vids was pooled through several different people, all of whom are active KH-Vids staff. Out of respect for the contributors' privacy, they will remain nameless here, as well as any other specifics regarding the transaction. The end result is, ultimately, that the site is now jointly owned by a group of long-time users. Obviously, this means some changes have taken place, some of which are self-demonstrative. The staff team has been restored and we are ready now to work on 'rebuilding,' so to speak. While we've got some work ahead of us, the team does not intend to undo everything that has happened this past month. Namely, any unbannings or account mergings that have occurred since June 15th will remain unchanged. It goes without saying, though, that the first order of business will be to deal with the aftermath of the drama that unfolded over the weekend, and we have a few requests in that regard. First, we highly discourage further public discussion regarding the matter. There are lots of strong, differing opinions on who or what was right or wrong, which is likely to lead to tension or dispute. No one is going to be punished for what may have been said or done until now, but from here on out any inflammatory remarks on the subject will be dealt with accordingly. We also ask that you please do not publicly circulate any of the many, many personal screenshots that made the rounds any further. However, we also want to acknowledge that actions on both sides were handled poorly. While things behind the scene over the last month or so may have been grim, and the situation on the site growing more negative, some of the actions taken on our part would normally never fly, and is something that we deeply regret and apologize for. Moving forward, we want to do better for our users, and is something we're committed to doing. If I may speak a little personally, the solidarity expressed by so much of this community as everything unfolded this past weekend was incredibly touching, and solidified in my mind what a unique and important place this is to so many people. Thank you to everyone who has made KH-Vids what it is, past and present. All that said, we're excited to let you know we'll be transferring KH-Vids to a new server within a few months. So for the people that already upgraded, what are your thoughts so far? I spent almost a week trying to upgrade, and after finally getting it to work, I'm pretty happy with it! Pros: The desktop switcher is amazing. I've been waiting so long for an elegant solution to multi-desktops without using 3rd party software and I'm pretty happy with this. All the Windows 8 bloat removed! No more fullscreen start menu or hot-corner BS, just a nice clean desktop experience. Seperate tablet and desktop modes. This speaks for itself. I have no idea why MS didn't just do this from the start. Wayyyy better file search. It's so much faster! Notification center. Very handy toggles. Cons: Two control panels for some reason? Different preferences seem to be split between them. Don't really get it. No more "different wallpaper on each monitor". 8.1 let you do this natively, don't get why they removed it. Can't pin items to standard start menu? I can only pin them as tiles, not as regular list items.
The hype for Kingdom Hearts III doesn't seem to be dying down any time soon, especially after the spectacular new trailer that we saw at E3 a few days ago. There are plenty of small elements in the trailer that may be overlooked, so on behalf of KH-Vids, I have created a video analysis highlighting some of the more subtle aspects that stood out to me while watching the trailer. Since I was a kid, my hairline's always been kinda...wonky. It's been kinda far back and I've had a noticeable Widow's Peak since as long as I can remember (not as noticeable now as when I was younger). Over the past three or so years I've noticed it has gone farther back than before, but I wasn't really concerned until now. It came to my attention a few days ago and I started doing some googling (never really the best thing to do in these kinds of situations, but whatever). I've come across people whose hairlines aren't even as far back as mine but are getting really worried, people telling them they're screwed and are gonna go bald etc. It's kinda been freaking me out since I wasn't expecting hair loss to be something I'd be worrying about this early, especially since it hasn't been a problem for my grandparents/uncles, whose hairlines are similar to mine but haven't experienced any significant balding or hair loss. I know it's super common for dudes to lose a decent amount of their hair by their mid 30s to early 40s, but I'm not even 18 it seems like it may be happening to me. What do you think? Is it as bad as I'm making it out to be? Is hair loss something I should be worried about or should I just relax about i? Spoiler: Pictures
