If you played Final Fantasy VII in PS1, her name was Aeris, all of a sudden, they changed her name to Aerith in Crisis Core. did she change her name when she met Cloud or something? Or was it to get away from teh Turks like in Ps1? If you remember that the Turks were after teh Cetera so she may have changed her name. Any other suggestions or options?
i don't think i have any real suggestions... but they changed her name in kh too.... mabye because....she likes it?
Aerith was her original name in the Japanese version of FF VII. For some reason they decided to change her name to be Aeris in the English version believing it would be easier to pronounce 'right' since the 'th' in Japanese is pronounced softly and to some might sound more like an 's'. However, in KH they decided to go with her original Japanese name. I actually like it better and think it was a good idea.
See at the start her name was Aerith but in Japanese her name would be Aerisu - which is the same as Aeris so her name got chnaged in the English version
Her actual name is Aerith in the Japanese version, which was translated to Aeris in the English version. Square-Enix decided to make keep it as Aerith in Kh and Crisis Core.
oh lord i once had a huge fight on youtube about this lol I was right and the other person wouldnt admit it they were like 28 and they couldnt admit they were wrong so they started to insult me and i was like "stop picking on me!" apparently I was stupid and naive to say it was a translation error.
Yes. Remember the line "It suddenly fell on top of me. It really gave me a scare." Aerith referred to Cloud with "it."XD
I like aerith better then aeris personally, but i think people just got mixed up when watching the japenese an english version, and started calling her that, or else the producers just thought it would be easier?
Well it could be that but people said that they changed it to a better name. Btw, thi thread is very old. Are you new here?
It's not that it's a "better name". Her name originally WAS "Aerith"; it was a mistranslation in the first place to call her "Aeris".
Haha, it was just mistranslation from the translators for the ps1 game of FF7, should've been Aerith, they've rectified it in all other games that mention her, I prefer Aerith so it's no hair off my back.
