IT IS THE GREATEST STAR WARS GAME, MAYBE EVEN THE GREATEST GAME, EVER CREATED. Everyone should play it. Everyone.
As of early, I have yet to actually play this game and probably will not from the 5 minutes of it I saw at a cousin's house once. He didn't even have a generic beam sword that can be spelt as either lightsaber or lightsabre but if I spell it the way my language permits you of the Pokemon name would "correct" me with your version of my language. Besides, can't be as awesome than merganating characters to create Lando Fett, the most badass moustached Mando that should of happened *shot*
I just love the Old Republic era, honestly, everything set around the timelines of the movies just feels like a shameless rehash. Nor do I really like shooters for that matter (though iirc Battlefront II lets you play as a Jedi, but still, doesn't the main story follow a Stormtrooper?) Then your cousin clearly wasn't that far into it, because you get a lightsaber within the first couple of hours of the game, lol. Plus, it just downright makes me giggle. I do like Starkiller but they kind of butchered his story in TFU2 from what I can tell. :c
Yeah, it's an interesting era, but I would much rather a game be made about the Mandaloran Wars. **** would be epic. BFII kind of is, yeah, but it tells the story of the 501st in a sort of "diary" way. RC is amazing though, it's focused more on teamwork and a bit of strategy in terms of assigning your squadmates to tasks, plus the amount of things you can kill enemies with is wonderful. Plus it spawned the novel series, which is probably one of the best book series I've ever read. You gonna get The Old Republic?
Well technically both KotOR and KotOR II are about the Mandalorian Wars, not directly, but they are. The first game follows what happens after them. It picks up about a year after, if my dates are right. And KotOR II deals with what happened to the Jedi who went to the Wars against the Council's wishes. So it's a bit more Jedi focused, but yeah, the Mandalorians Wars have a definite presence. Plus you get Canderous in your party eventually (Mandalore the Preserver, iirc). I'm not sure, I mean part of me wants to because it is The Old Republic and because I like what I've seen of Satele (even though she's a shameless attempt to appease angry KotOR fans, like myself). Still, I dunno how I feel about the MMO aspect of it, as I've never really played one and don't really have the cash to play each month. Though I hear there is a single-player mode.
