Now, how was this done, again? Because the vast majority of that was impossible to do with sand.

 

Looks like someone just did it in some program and added a sand texture.

 

Yeah, the sand's too static for it to actually have been moved around.

This was done entirely in watercolours though. Some 2000 consecutively painted images, freaking insane.

Story behind this is that the guy (Colin) took an animation class, but the teacher was so bad this is the extend of what he learned.

 

He just keyframed the original video with sand.
