EDIT: My bad if this was meant to be in the Traditional Art Section, but, you know, considering I did this digitally... D: Move it if you desire, though HI. It's been a while since I posted here. 'k, so um. I recently got my tablet back after an entire year, so I basically am not used to it and I used it to practice a little bit. I've done these in like, the last 2 days I believe. Most of them are for a "Manga" comic I am trying to get done <.< Uh, yeah, so they are my original characters, basically, no reference used, lol. Except for the fact that they are some of my friends and I turned them into characters for it. :P There are still a looot missing and a looot yet to be done. Here they go: Andy: Me: Some indian dude: Kain & Kaito: Ok, I think those are enough for now. Take in count, I have not used a tablet in a year, so I am not used to it at all, lol. These are all WIPs (Works in Progress) meaning that they are unfinished, unpolished, non-post-processed, and probably won't be because I am lazy. They have a LOOOOT of mistakes, like the chest anatomy for example, hands and crap that I forgot to fix, I am aware of that. :P I hope these do not stretch the page or something. Comments & HARSH critique would be appreciated, though! I really need to improve. D:
Its not bad at all for not having used a tablet in so long. what brush size and settings are you using? Just remember that because you are doing it digitally, you can take advantage of layers and do things like eyes on a new layer, duplicate and flip it and then transform it appropriately to keep things proportionate. =] Edit: actually now i see youve done that with a few. ;]
lol, thanks. And yes, I actually have done that thing with some, since when I work, I do everything in different layers. :] If I am not mistaken, I am using a flat calligraphic brush at 1 pxl in normal settings. My Photoshop is in spanish, so I dunno if I said that right. xD Thanks a lot for your input! Appreciated.
Ah, i see haha spanish? Well anyway, on the drawings: The indian dudes neck seems kinda off to me. It gets thinner as it goes down. With the way you drew the trapezius muscles seems like it would cause the neck to be wider at the bottom and the sternocleidomastoids would be more defined and the muscle would become less prominent towards the front of the neck. and then in the kain and kaito drawings- the ears of the left most drawing seem too far from the head, the right ear more so than the left. and the head proportions of the lowest drawing seems off. it seems like the eyes should be a little higher up around maybe where the eyebrows are. but it all really depends on how you want the character to look since they are your original characters.
Really appreciated! I like this kind of critique, it helps a lot. <: And yes, haha. Spanish is my first language.
Well your english is excellent. :3 But anyway, I'm no art art critic, but I really like these -- notably the second one. The character design is nice because the characters look halfway normal, not with huge flying hair all over the place. it's refreshing, lol. As for criticism, I have to agree with C4E -- the neck looks very awkward. May I have permission to color some of these in if I get bored?
Thanks! And sure, you can, lol. Here comes a whole bunch of new ones, lol: More characters, used reference poses for these, because I couldn't be bothered, haha: Krystal: Jess. Mallory: I still suck at drawing girls, that's why I tried to use reference. :P
Woow! Your Very Good I love them <3 Andy is HOT 8D You just have a problem with the girls hairs They seem messy .. practice on that :] Keep up the good work The Art Section really do need some artist like you ^^ :3
Thank you a whole load! The harsher the critique is, the merrier, really. So please be my guests to point out every mistake you spot. :> Here is another one; (Yes, I must practice hair, still, lol.): Cori: The thing on her head is called a Dango.
I concur. o: They are a bit sharp. And wow, someone actually knows what a Dango is, she's gonna pass out when I tell her. xD Thank you!
Id do a little bit of playing around with how you draw girls' hands, wrists and hair. but they look much less rough than the drawings of the male characters.
Again with the Hair Dear :] Her Breasts seem Pointy But shes carrying a Dango She must be Deadly ;] No problem I can Spot on Cori Except that her Eyebrow do annoy me a bit and let me point out something good Your shadings are Perfect :] Keep up the Good Work I do Agree Your Male Drawing Skill are really quite Splendid ;] :3
Something about her left side bugs me. Her left meaning our right. Mostly her arm i think. and her left breast is smaller. way smaller lol
I hate you This is Beautiful You very good on here hair ;] But the only thing that bugs me is her left ear Its too big Makes her look like an Elf Britts smexy so far She seems Dangerous Keep it Up :3
Thank you. xD Okay, here goes Nicole: Her butt came out too big. xD And here's a random manga page just so you get to see my attempt at it. I'm new in all of this, t's just me and photoshop, and it was my second try, lol.
Nicole seems a sweet Girl and you did great on her hair But one Problems her head is too Big and the bigger the butt is the Sexier she becomes :] For the Manga Attempt I must say you are Brilliant at it xD You Colored it Perfectly on Photoshop And your New to it Your Skills Impress me I can't wait to see more of your work :3
