Well, it's went from bad to worse. I soon figured out that I had sleep apnea, and now I believe that i might have asthma. It's harder for me to breathe lately, i feel tightness in my chest, I started wheezing lately, had more trouble sleeping with my apnea, and and I can't breathe in as much anymore...

So i went to Yahoo Health, and looked up the symptoms, some of which I had without knowing it could have to do with asthma...

So, I really want to go to the clinic, but i can't tell my mom?

and of course, someone will be like "Tell your mom, you're stupid if you don't (my usual response but i don't care xD)"

but the thing is, everytime I tell her something is wrong with me, she'll say "nothings wrong with you, it's all in your head"
but when i told her today i randomly started choking in 3rd period and asked her to come get me,, she thought it was just where i had lack of sleep and where i spent 80 minutes in a 100 degree gym.... but i don't think so, because i had a short sleeve shirt on and I wasn't really burning up with my hair up..

advice anyone? And don't just reply back "tell your mom" because that won't help anything...

Hm, well I've had asthma all my life. I've mostly outgrown it now, thankfully, but I obviously still know how it feels. Can you describe more what it feels like? For me, when my asthma was acting up, it felt like I was trying to breathe through a Caprisun straw. Also, obviously you would be wheezing A LOT, like really loudly, and coughing.

If it feels like that, then you really need to go see a doctor. Like, now. Asthma can be really serious if you don't treat it (I've even ended up in the hospital because of it).

However, it may be something else. It seems kind of strange for you to get asthma all of a sudden like that... but, it could happen. Going to the doctor is the only way you'll know for sure.

Also, okay, I know that this will sound silly, but one of the symptoms of the Swine Flu is respiratory problems... I don't want to scare you or anything, but that is the main symptom.

Bottom line: Go see the doctor asap. Seriously, don't wait around and think that this will go away. Sure, it may just go away on its own, but you can never be too careful, right?

My aunt's a nurse, I'll ask her when my mom isn't home or something lol..

when i breathe, it's like I'm breathing through a piece of cloth, or something. Hard to get oxygen in, but every hour or so, I'll breathe normally, then start wheezing again. It didn't start all of a sudden too, i've developed the wheezing possibly over 3 or 4 days...

That's still pretty sudden. Will you see your aunt tomorrow? You seriously need to be careful, especially with this new flu thing.

Hmmm that's odd that it's on and off... is it only when you're like running or something? Or is it when you're around something you're allergic to?

I will try my best to talk to my aunt, or maybe someone at the school who might know something... possibly my Biology teacher.

Well, actually, when I was cooking earlier, I breathed in the steam and i felt so much better, then after about 20 minutes, then it got a little harder to breath. I'm not allergic to anything i don't think. When i ran yesterday playing volleyball, i thought I was gonna die, because i was breathing so hard and it was very hard to breathe... i took a nap after that and when i woke up i was feeling a little better.

Okay then, if you wont tell your mom maybe you should think of saying it to someone else really close to you in your life. Maybe you could persuade your mom to take you to the clinic just to check up on you because you realise the symptoms of asthma.

Ok, this may sound REALLY ******ed, but when you start wheezing, after it calms down a little, does your chest or chin get itchy? but when you scratch it it doesn't go away? that's why mine does. If it is Asthma, then when your running, try to conserve your energy, until you can see a doctor about it.

Yes, steam helps a lot with this kind of stuff. What i like to do when i start wheezing is get a washcloth, soak it in hot water, lay down, and just set it on my face. It helps a lot for me. It might have the same effect on you.

Hope this helps. And as someone else was saying sorry didn't read name (._.) you might have the swine flu. Which is HIGHLY dangerous, especially if your healthy, because then it tears you to shreds. If this is the case, you must see a doctor immediatley.

EDIT:Fadedphantom brought up the swine flu.

Alright people, don't keep telling Cupcake she has Swine Flu o__o

    Do you smoke?

It might just be a fitness problem, I can't imagine you suddenly developing asthma out of nowhere. Or an odd chest infection.

i asked my mom about it this morning, and she said no devolops asthma, it's usually in your genetics, just waiting to come out, do your grandparents have asthma? usually stuff like that skips a generation.. if so.. lucky you.

Firstly, never, ever, inout symptoms into an online site, especially one that isn't an official health site, you will just scare yourself into thinking you have something.

Secondly, I am pretty sure you can go to the clinic without having to tell your mom, so do that.

Thirdly, you used to smoke, I don't know if you still do but it could be that.

Fourthly, ok, I am trying to think of a way to say this without hurting your feelings, and I know you are trying and working on your weight but it is possibly related to that. The heavier you are the harder it is to keep your breath and being overweight can cause breathing problems.

Basically. Stop smoking, concentrate on getting down to a healthier weight, and perhaps do some specific breathing exercises to help, like meditation (which is also good for stress).

    XD

I don't have the flu xD I feel -healthwise- fine =)

@xemnas- yeah that's exactly how i feel o_O my chest get's itchy after I run during 3rd period, but usually I'll go to the bathroom and wash my face in really hot water then get fresh air.
That's what I meant by 'developing' also xD i didn't know the word for it... I have relatives that do have asthma. My grandmother has it, both sides of my family has asthma...

@CtR- Yeah, I've lost a little weight where i've been excersising lately, but it's been bothering me the past few weeks because it's harder for me to breathe after so.

I did smoke on Saturday but before that, it was about 2-3 months since the last time. I only smoked Saturday because i needed something and i'll admit I was an idiot for not doing something else, i just wasn't thinking straight.

Even if you are tempted, don't smoke. Smoking is bad for you for several reasons, but yeah it really wont help you to breathe any better.

Now I know that I don't have asthma, but I know that I have a breathing problem. And I just wanted to say something that's on my heart...

I regularly have to take a deep breath or I get very nervous. And I stutter quite a lot. It is no asthma, the doctor told me that already, but it is quite a problem...

Yeah, then it's probably in your genetics, it just skipped your parents generation. although, it could be a collapsed lung, i remember my friend had a collapsed lung and she weezed and coughed like you. she had to use a inhalor too.. so that might be something to think about.

I know exactly what you're going through. I experience the same symptoms on a regular basics, but I don't have asthma. Instead I feel heavy pressure on my chest constantly, have shortness of breath when I do phyisical excerise or talk a lot. Mine was caused through smoke inhalation through a fire at my job with not having protection for many hours due to their fault and Post Trautmatic Stress Disorder.

For natural methods you should get some chest rub that is all natural and rub it on your chest and throat and slowly inhale. Steam also helps, but only do it for 5-10 minutes otherwise you could get dizzy and pass out. Breathing excersies help, and drinking plenty of water does wonders. Stay away from to many milk products which could create phelm. Yoga and mediatation also help along with breathing through your diaphram rather than just your lungs. Make sure your stomach extends out and in rather than your chest.

I recommend having a doctor a pulmonolgist to be more percise test you by having a methocoline test, which is simply inhaling 5 vials of methocoline with different dilutions and if this triggers a spasm in your lungs or the tissue chest wall then chances are you could have it. Another test is a breathing test called a flow meter. This measures the amount of oxygen exhale into a tube. Asthma does not come out of the blue and is usually triggered by something. You could have serious allergies and not know it and if you smoke then stop right away. This could lead to COPD which is horrible lung disorder caused from years of smoking. My advice to you is to find out as soon as possible otherwise it could get worst. The last thing you want is oxygen and I know from experience since I was on it for several months as the doctors tried to find out what I had. Another recommemdation is to see a chiropractor for maybe your spine is out of alignment which triggeres your nerves and causes your organs to react in a different surpressed manner. All in all don't ignore the problem and let your mom know for if it is asthma it can be easily treatable. Do not be afraid to let her know what is going on. It is not in your head. Your brain is telling you that is something is wrong otherwise you wouln't be feeling that way. See a doctor or a nurse at least and they will give you options. Refer to the options I set for you since I have had all of them and I'm slowly getting better. Hopefully I helped you to some degree. ^_^

Maybe you should lay off the ho-hos, do some exercise to improve your fitness levels and your breathing should get a lot better.

Edit: If you smoke, it might not be asthma at all. Dumb idea it is too smoke.

Of course smoking would be stupid. I'm asmathic and just the smell of the stuff chokes me. (I didn't read every post, just the smallest ones...)

Anyway, the best thing to do is get yourself to a clinic. Meds will help you with the syptoms. I know it might be hard to do without your mom's help, but this stuff can be fatal if it isn't taken care of. It could be something else... Try getting some avdair(I know I spelt that one .-. it's a purple disk.). I've always been on that.
