You want to learn a language that they don't offer at your school. :| seriously that ticks me off. I only have three options at school and that's Spanish, German, and Chinese. But u really can't count Chinese cuz they make u pay to learn that language. I hate my school :|
Then don't take a second language class; that solves all of your problems. Unless you go to a school that makes a second language a requirement. If you live in the States, I would say that you should take Spanish because it's the most popular second language. I took Spanish for two years and I didn't really learn anything. :|
My high school only offered French and Spanish. I would have loved to learn German. Had to take 2 years of a foreign language to graduate. I don't remember a damned thing.
Yeah, like LF I had a choice only between French and Spanish. I've been taking Spanish for five years and I'm awful at it. If you want to learn a language, don't rely on the school to teach it to you, haha.
At my school, Freshman could choose Spanish, French, German, or Latin. Juniors and Seniors could take Russian or Chinese. I chose Latin because I really want to learn Italian.
same thing at my school. except that i haven't taken my foreign language classes because of me being in choir, which is a class with exams at my school. so i'll be taking French starting next year and hopefully until i graduate because i'm really glad that my school offers French which, to me, is an amazing language. but i do wish that other languages were offered, though. i would love to learn how to speak Greek, Italian, Irish, or German because i have ancestors from the countries who speak it (except Greece). lucky... you get to learn Italiano (Italian in Italian)...
My school only offers Spanish, and it's required. I'm not gonna go on my rant again about how it's not that useful of a language to learn since it's not spoken in any of the world's highest educated or wealthiest countries, but srsly. But I know French pretty well and Spanish too so it shouldn't be too hard for me.
I think my campus curretly offers Japanese as a language. I'm always told that I look Asian, even though I'm not. It would just be a fun way to trip people up, but actually speaking Japanese. Spanish wasn't really a language that I wanted to learn, which may explain why I didn't retain it. With Japanese, I'll want to learn it, so I may pay more attention to it.
Take German. It's the most beautiful sounding language of all time. You'd have the best language of all time if you could combine Latin grammar and German pronunciation. inb4english
