What's a mugen character? (Wordiness thing)

 

What are you even talking about? And what is Mugen? (sounds familiar)

 

MUGEN is a full customisable 2D Fighting Game Engine in the form of Street Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom, King of Fighters, Mortal Kombat etc for the PC.

You can download Characters, Backgrounds, Music, Menus, etc and basically customise your own unique fighting game.

 

Is it free, or would you normaly have to pay? 'Cause we don't support piracy here.

In terms of Legality, it would seem to be a judgement call.

As of now, it is techincally illegal to download MUGEN as the licensing agreement for use of the program expired.

However, that agreement has been expired since 2003 and no legal action ahs been taken upon those who still use MUGEN today or who have distributed their own alternative versions of the program.

In terms of the use of copyrighted characters, such as those from Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, King of Fighters, etc, the general consensus from the companies that produce those games is (except for Nintendo who are against emulation in all forms) that they recognise MUGEN and any subsequent characters within it as 'Fanart work' and don't care about it.

So, is it illegal? Technically yes.

Does anyone seem to care? Apparently not.

Mugen is like street fighters but u can get almost any character u want, but u have to download them from sites and stuff
