Earthbound. That uber-popular RPG for the SNES is now headed towards the Virtual Console. It has recieved an E rating by the ESRB. No release date has been yet announced. On a related note, Nintendo Power recently had a survey of which games readers would like to see on the VC. Earthbound was number one on the list. Mother was in fourth. Because of the Imported section on the VC, maybe we'll see Mother in the near future as well. Source: Earthbound Gets Rating ESRB Rating: http://www.esrb.org/ratings/search.jsp
I wouldn't expect anything to come of this any time soon, seeing how Super Mario RPG was rated by the ESRB for the Wii's VC back in 2006, and it has yet to see release. So, I don't see any reason to have false hope about Earthbound on the VC any time soon, the ESRB's list for rated games to hit the VC is like a hundred unreleased games, so to expect that particular one is going to happen sooner when it just got around to being rated now..I dunno, I think EB fans have had enough false hope and waiting.
I never said it was coming out soon. The implication was that Earthbound will come out for the VC. And that is what will happen. It may happen 3 years down the road or maybe in 2 months. Nobody really knows.
"Earthbound makes its Virtual Console debut" seems to imply that it's already being released on the VC, or atleast that it will be happening soon, I'm just dispelling any false hope that this means we're to expect it to be on the VC any time soon.
Woops.... I kind of got into the grandeur of it all. I'll get it fixed. Thanks for showing that to me.
We have no release date which is odd. Normally if ESRB rates soemthing it has long since been announced.
Ness is my fav Super Smash Brothers character. I hope I can get this, I especially love the music in this game!
The way the ESRB deals with Virtual Console games is different, because Nintendo sends entire masses of classic games to be rated now to be released, in some cases, a long long time from now. Plus the fact that Virtual Console games don't get release dates, Nintendo's only announcement of when a Virtual Console game is going to released, is the very day that the game releases on the Virtual Console, there is no prior notification that a game is going to be added to the VC catalog, it's simply added.
Nope. I think there's a press release on Nintendo.com every Monday about what VC games are being released, but as I stated, Monday is the very day those games are added to the VC, so the only time a VC game is announced for release, is when it's already released.
Very wierd.... On a related note, Pokemon Puzzle was released today. However, Nitendo stated that it was going to be released before today. =/ I'm starting to get confused...
